How do you drive that thing!??

So mant cars, so many choises.
Lets see, I think I would take the following . . .

Race Car: FORD GT LM Edition Spec-II '04.
- It took some time to set the suspension, but now it hugs the corners
on all types of tracks. It's an amazing car!!👍 👍

Road Car:I'm torn here. (2K4 GTO, Skyline V-spec Nur, Lotus Esprit V8 SE 1998, Ford GT) It would depend on what the field looks like and what the build restrictions are.

 Look foward to meeting all u guys here at GTP in the future online on GT! Well anyways:

My tuned up Skylines: R32, R33, R34
My EVO!
Mustang
Audi R8

Man... with all these different choices we're giving out, many of us are probably wanting to get it on right now with our cars of choice! If that's true, then we'll be reluctant to hit it off in GT4 Online.

Fd3s easily. hands down for me its the best car in the game. and i own one here in cali which i love to drift :)

I would like to go against someone in my Skyline GT-R R34 Time attack car. 52 Sec on tsukuba with sports tires is a tough one to beat with a similar car.

as for the cars i'll be packing my favored AW11 MR2 or my Evo 8 MR

Watch it buddy, cumbersome and clumsy, does the Z06, S7 and Solstice sound familiar. The Z06 can out handle any japanese made car, and tear it a new one in straightline grunt.

I like japanese cars too, but I don't diss american cars because the majority are huge.

allow me to correct myself, majority. also im voicing my opinion, not discriminating against any american car lovers. so you watch it. also, its true the z06 can out perform MOST japanese car but compare them pricewise. you cant compare an S7 or a Z06 to any nissan, mitsu, or honda without considering the pricing. both the Z06 and S7 were made to perform where as the japanese cars ur trying to compare with are mainly road going cars affordable to even the average joe. if u want a fair comparison, bring out the mustang or an afforable american car and compare it with its japanese competition. also, its a fact that american cars have massive gas-drinking motor with its massive V8 engine that pulls a tiny 210 HP compare that to impreza or the lan-evo and their 4 cylinder 2.0 liter engine pulling almost 300 HP. their pricing is fairly close to each other but the japanese cars offer an AWD system while the mustang has to suffer with the RWD. you obviously have no idea what ur talking about.

Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 8 MR: ~$31K USD
Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution FQ-400: £46999 ~$57K USD
Corvette Z06: ~$65K USD
Saleen S7: ~$375K USD

Note: the FQ-400 is proven by top gear to be quicker than a Lamborghini Murcielago.

any questions?

Depends on the HP... if around 700 or so, my BMW M3, modified and upgraded to the max.

*drool* I wish I could actually own that car... *chuckle*

Lets bring my 348hp Integra Type-R '01 to the mix
And my 339hp (for now) Integra Type-R '03 too

If there's a FWD contest that will be good.

I think what Johm means is that we'll all be logging in, and the server list for GTP will look like this:

* Speed 12s only: 1 player, waiting
* Speed 12s NO TCS: 1 player, waiting
* Evo VIIIs only: 1 player, waiting
* RX7s FCs only: 1 player, waiting

Actually, I have some comments...

FaLLeNAn9eL
its true the z06 can out perform MOST japanese car but compare them pricewise. you cant compare an S7 or a Z06 to any nissan, mitsu, or honda without considering the pricing. both the Z06 and S7 were made to perform where as the japanese cars ur trying to compare with are mainly road going cars affordable to even the average joe. if u want a fair comparison, bring out the mustang or an afforable american car and compare it with its japanese competition.

Z06 outperforming most Japanese cars? Try all Japanese cars, at least production ones (tuners are a whole other breed, and the Corvette has its fair share of insanely fast tuner versions). The Z06 offers 500hp and supercar performance for a mere $70k.

The R34 GT-R offered "280hp" (closer to 350-ish), performance that is on par with a $50,000 BMW M3, and would have cost $90k+ if it were sold here (that's how much it sold for in Britain, and Nissan is looking at $70k-80k for the next-gen, usa-bound GT-R).

The Honda NSX, which has always been overpriced, also offers 280hp, corners very well but can't keep up with the GT-R or M3 at the drag strip, and costs $90k like the GT-R.

Japan's performance sedans and such, like the WRX and STi, are affordable, yes. But most of their sportscars are overpriced (notable exceptions to this include the S2000 and 350Z).

FaLLeNAn9eL
also, its a fact that american cars have massive gas-drinking motor with its massive V8 engine that pulls a tiny 210 HP compare that to impreza or the lan-evo and their 4 cylinder 2.0 liter engine pulling almost 300 HP. their pricing is fairly close to each other but the japanese cars offer an AWD system while the mustang has to suffer with the RWD. you obviously have no idea what ur talking about.

You're right about american cars having giant engines that produce little power or torque (though Detroit has been quickly improving on this, lately). However, comparing a naturally-aspirated V8 to a turbocharged 4-cylinder is just daft. Comparing any naturally-aspirated engine to any turbocharged one and expecting them to perform the same is just daft.

Then you applaud the STI and Evo's AWD systems, commenting that the Mustang "has to suffer with the RWD." Would you say Formula-One cars, Grand Touring racecars, Le Mans prototypes, and Top-Fuel Dragsters are "suffering" too...?

As you so eloquently put it -- "you obviously have no idea what ur talking about."

You're kidding right? What V8 american car do you know only has 210hp? That has got to be the most ridiculous thing I've heard in a while. Gas drinking motors, what's the mileage on a Lancer Evolution and a Subaru Impreza? They are no better, they are just smaller gas guzzling engines, what's your point? What? AWD is that something so great, aside from it helping when you drive on slick surfaces and off-road. Hmmm hope you also note that AWD and full time systems like that use more gas than conventional drivetrain vehicles.

That's awesome that the Mitsu FQ-400 is quicker than a Murcielago, but can it out race one? probably not.

It's great to have an opinion, but make it clear when you have one, don't just spout things with generalized comments.

No harm done, keep it clean.

u say mere $70K like its very affordable. please, with the money u spend on the Z06 think about the endless possibilites of options u have with the money u have left over.

The Z06 does a damned good job keeping up with cars like the Enzo, Carrera GT, S7, McMerc SLR, and Zonda, yet it costs much, much, much less. It's also cheaper than its domestic competition, the SRT-10 Viper and Ford GT.

FaLLeNAn9eL
FYI: the skyline and nsx are classified as supercars not sportcars. Corvette Z06, Saleen S7, Skyline, Nsx, etc. are all classified as supercars.

This is a matter of semantics. Definitions for the word "supercar" vary widely. To me, the GT-R, NSX, and Z06 are sportscars. The S7 is a supercar.

FaLLeNAn9eL
Honda S2000 r cylinder 2.2 liters 240 HP. ~$34K USD

How come you didn't quote the earlier, 2.0L version of the S2000, which still yielded 240hp for a grand total of 120hp/L? Anyway, I said that it is daft to expect a naturally-aspirated engine to produce the same specific output as a turbocharged one. Not that it is impossible for a naturally-aspirated engine to do so.

Go find more cars with 120hp/L and prove to me that such an output is the norm, rather than the exception.

FaLLeNAn9eL
F-1, GT, Leman, as well as top-fuel cars make up for the drivetrain through weight reduction and application of downforce.

What does that say about the heavy, RWD BMW E60 M5, which recorded a faster lap at the 'Ring than any Japanese car that has ever been there, AWD or otherwise, without downforce?

Yes, but for quite a while, the Ford Modular V8s produced a mere 225hp and 290lb.ft from a full 4.6 Liters. So you were close.

Not only is that video is several years old, it's also with the Z51 Corvette, not the better-performing Z06. The new C6 Z06 is a lot faster than the C5 Z06.

most people have.. but the restriction of using only arcade mode cars and limited(if you can call that limited) tuning whatsoever plus the lag of online play i don't think it a lot of will be using it for serious races

Eh, All Corvettes have always performed poorly on tracks. Face it American cars CAN'T turn. Even with the Z06 it would still be in last. So what of the front and rear axixs are closer together for better turning, it still doesn't match the Skyline, Evo, NSX, or even the Modena. It would be left behind because there slow around corners fast on straights. Lets just keep the American cars on the drag strip so they can get owned byy Supras :D

and the ending line up is correct. And so was yours. But you were comparing the Vette, against japanese cars. So i did japanese cars>Vette, because you were compairing the vette, and jpn cars...

-----

As for the side discussion on Yanks vs. Japanese in the game... no, there is no Japanese production road car as fast as the Viper or the Vette in the game. And yes, in real life, the 500+ (some dyno results suggest 550) Z06 Vette is damn fast whether in a straight line or on a circuit. The only complaint I've heard of it is the lack of communication in steering that makes it kind of hard to drive on the circuit.

It's kind of hard making these comparisons, when the cars we're all talking about come from different eras and are built for different markets. The Skyline was fast for its time... which just happened to end almost seven years ago. The Corvette Z06 is fast for its time now.

The FQ400 may be factory sold, but it's technically a tuner car. Didn't know that one about the turbo lag, but I guess all non-MIVEC Evos had that problem... actually, that's the only way you could get an Evo to work and back on a full tank... stay out of the boost.

And none of this all matters in the game, where simply: Supercars > Vette/Viper > TVRs (except 12) & Esprit > Japanese sports cars. The only killer Japan-apps are the concept and tuner cars. Really something for such a biased Japanese game, eh? (not ribbing anyone here, but it's a common misconception)

And of course, as soon as we throw all the possible mods in, all bets are out the window and it all depends on who has better car control. It's probably in these instances that the Skyline redeems itself.

Actually, I imagine the C5 Z06 would have fared much better in that Best Motoring race. After all, it matched the race-winning 996 Turbo's 'Ring time. It would still have a disadvantage on the Japanese track's tight corners and short straightaways, though, simply because of the V8 and RWD (after all, the 360 Modena didn't do so well). :indiff:

I don't know about other people, but I only make the claim that the tuning is biased to Japanese makes. :)
