If You Could Remake GT2...

What would you add, change, or remove?
I would add the drag racing mode, add more modern cars, and fix the freaking tuning interface.

Geez, where do I begin here? :)

1. You'd be able to watch the front end of your car during replays like you can in GT1 (you can do this DURING a race in GT2, but only for a few seconds, of course it's risky),

2. The cars would get 'dirty' like they do in GT1. I've got some GT1 cars that I've never washed, I just love that dull look they get.

3. Turbo boost set up would be similar to GT1. Also, the gearing chart would be more scientific...you can see where your power curve lies as you set gears in GT1.

4. I'm probably gonna get fried for this, but I'd sacrifice some of the used cars...the endless Silvias, Skylines, Accords, etc. (not all of them, just some of them) just to have an old beetle, some more Mustangs (and not just the Shelbys...I'd include the original '66 hardtop, maybe the 302 Boss, a '67 Fastback..), an Alpine-Renault rally car...etc. Don't get me wrong, I'm not dissatisfied with the GT2 car selection, it would be cool to see MORE~!!

5. More cars would have the bore/stoke displacement increase option, although I think this depends on if the manufacturer offers the service in real life.

6. Reverse tracks in simulation mode would be cool, and not just during the manufacturers' races.

7. Arcade single player games would have tire wear for all cars , not that bogus handling crap (which only affects YOUR car, not the AI, by the way).

8. More enduros. I'm a huge fan of enduros.

Well, that's enuff for now. I'm sure I'll think of more stuff later. :)`

^word to that.

I'd let you modify cars properly. that is, if you want to spend a bzillion credits, you should be able to have a 3000hp skyline. not stuck with a measley 700hp no matter what you want to do.

I would make the Race Generator much Harder, And I would add atleast Two more levels to it for some really hard to beat AI cars!!! :dopey:

I'm with you on this one! There should be a difficulty switch (kind of like they had on the old Atari 2600) which makes the game more difficult all around- like when the race says there's a 591 hp limit, it really MEANS 591 hp will be required!

First, of course, music. Graphics at Tahiti Road, and maybe all graphics should be like High Res of GT1, tough it must be imposible for our little Playstation. More accuracy about power limits and type of car (that rivals don't be so much under the limit and that you can't enter japanese regional with a german, or roadsters with a non-roadster).

Yeah it would be impossible to make hi-res grafix in GT2, unless you split the game up into 4 discs or something.

I agree entirely with you on these points but I would also make the gameplay more like the original. So you have qualifying sessions and earn money for placing 1st. More series of races instead of 1 off races etc etc.

If I could remake GT2, here's what I would change:

1. the physics (cars don't bounce like ping pong balls, more responsive brakes)
2. graphics (I'll be typing all day about this one. ;) )
3. improved AI (read description of #2)
4. i'd get rid of some of the repeat Japanese cars and replace them w/ muscle cars ('71 Chevelle, '69 Camaro SS, '67 Pontiac GTO, and more :) )
5. improved sound ( sound doesn't drop out in the middle of a race series, better music variety, cars sound like they're supposed to ;) )

some of the cars just aren't there..appearance wise!! like the shelby 350 & 500 stang'
the rooflines are poor - the rear end on both cars are about a foot too long, maybe more !!
the cars just don't look like the real ones did. too bad, because the Japanese cars are just about
right on !!

MORE PET PEEVES I'D CHANGE IN GT2 - tire wear for ALL cars in ANY RACE OVER 10 LAPS!
CAR DAMAGE to affect ALL CARS..when switched on!! maybe they could have saved some memory with a little less wheel options..so many of the look alike, anyway! AND, more i can't think of right now !! OOOOOOoooo brain fart!!!!

Yeah, I missed that one! qualifying laps...some of those things are so intense...I'd literally have to go wash my hands afterwards, my palms would be sweaty after just one lap!

Man... I think this is my debut to the GT2 Forums. And when I seen this topic, I was thinking, "I discussed this elsewhere." No, don't get upset. I did a topic in the GT4 main forums about what GT4 will need to learn from to be better. And in so, here are some of my comments in detail:

https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showpost.php?p=1053314&postcount=1

Well, I wanted to quote, but I don't think I can condense it for this argument. You see, this is an old thread I created when I actually greeted people at the start of my topics, then come up with a pretty long introduction, or as one person [hopefully] ranted on me about "40 page introductions." But to make a long story short, GT2 lacked execution and left out way too much. I've been thinking about it in my earlier months on GTPlanet, and so it gets to be that GT4 had a lot for it, but needed more execution. For one thing, I'd bring back SSR11, have actual car sounds (instead of the generic sounds for when you're racing against competition), and I'd sure as hell (not to knock anyone, but...) get licensing for the Mercedes-Benz CLK-GTR to be in the game. I heard you can get it courtesy of a cheat, but I don't rely on cheating. I would also change some of the music in the game. I enjoyed most of the menu music like in Gran Turismo 1. Darin and I talked about it, and we kind of agreed that the TVR theme is the best in the game. I'm not saying that the music for the cities North, East, West, and South were horrible, just that I'd kind of want a jazzy/techno mix. I think some people call it "Acid Jazz," but I'm not sure. I'd create a rallycross championship rather than "beat the xxxx!" You know? Most of the game music I didn't really like. I'm not really big on rock music, even in racing. Electronica is my pick-me-up in racing. Soccer games have it because it exudes emotion. So, I'd have a lot to do if I wanted to make GT2 better.

To end, I don't know if you'd call this a minus, but in some races, I heard the engine sounds kind of glitch during a long race. It sounds like when you race around and your engine is humming about, at some points, you kind of hear bits of silence. Anyhow, yeah. Next?

Buyable body kits, engine transplants and tranny transplants (4WD V8 Mini, anyone?) :D
Well since they didn't ad those wonderful features I changed them myself! :dopey:

Custom Body Mods

Changed Engine to the Suzuki Cultus Dual Engines, I really did it for the sound!

The Yellow Mini has a Mazda RX7 LM Engine.

Changed both Trannys to the Pleo 7Speed!!!

More muscle cars, more racing mods, more cars, more tracks, more used cars with all the manufactures participating, better graphics, much better handling and better sounds.
