If You Won The Lottery...

Don't particularly care for large homes.

Smallish house preferably in the country with a nice view. Toyota Camry. Toyota Tundra. Toyota 86. No, I'm not obsessed with Toyota. Ford Mustang.

So I'm up to four vehicles and a house.

May as well have an occasional apartment in the city. One with a view into Busch Stadium for baseball games. And particularly close access for post game and not wanting to drive home. Also, parties.

One Cardinal Way.

And all the Lego blocks you want.
I'd buy a little house in Iceland, with a greenhouse and big cellar full of all the weight lifting equipment I ever wanted, a nice 4x4 - and use the rest of the money to live a peaceful, quiet life. I'm not big on material possessions, all I really want is a cozy peaceful little place I can call my own in a beautiful country.

Ok, I have to admit, I'd get me a Viper ACR as well. :sly:
Toyota GR Yaris.

I’d move from the UK to Canada and invest the rest to live off the interest. That’s if I got a very large sum.

If it was a more modest amount I’d just invest some in renovating the house I have now and the rest invested to live on interest. Possibly work part time to just keep busy.

I’d be shocked as I never play the lottery.

If, somehow I was to gain untold millions, I’d makes sure my own were comfortable and then set about trying to help others. Maybe I’d open an orphanage, a wild life sanctuary and invest in reducing plastic consumption and pollution levels.

If I won the lottery mega millions, I would do the following.

1. Pay off the rest of my student loan.
2. Give my parents some of my winnings.
3. Invest some more of my winnings, not everything of course.
4. Put most of my winnings into my savings account.
5. Go buy some land and have my dream house built. Which would have a big garage to store cars in. As for the house itself, it would be either a ranch house or a normal-sized 2-story house. I'm not big on mansions.
6. Buy an airfield or something so I can have a place to drive cars at.
7. Start a car collection, there's so many cars I would want to buy with my millions. Then, I would be spending a lot of my time driving them for fun.

here's an idea of cars I want to have right now, ones I can legally own anyway:

Updates from 2006 below in red.
TB
My wife and I have discussed this a few times and have always come to the same conclusion:

  • My sons would each have at least $50,000 added to their college funds.
  • A pile would be set aside for any CF complications my youngest son might run into, like, God forbid, needing a lung transplant.
  • All siblings (10 9 total) would receive $10,000 each and parents $20,000 each. We would be inclined to do more, but the youngest of all of our parents kids is 23 in jail. At that point, you should be able to care for yourself. Compounded with the complete lack of financial sense some of the have, they are doing good to receive that much.
  • The house and specials would be paid off (at present around $180,000 $300,000). We might entertain purchasing a new house/having a new one built, but our house is only 3 years old, we picked everything out (carpet, trim, cabinets, doors, hardware, etc.) and, after adding 2 kids, it is still big enough for us. Well that's just all wrong now. New house WAS purchased seven and a half years ago and now we're at the point of starting to consider downsizing when the boys are gone.
  • The Pilot would be was paid off (around $15,000). There might also be talk about a new car. Nothing fancy (at this point, with the kids an all), just a cheap work runner. We are already looking for one, but after winning the lottery, the work runner would be a bit nicer than we are currently planning. :D Wow. That comment didn't age well. 2019 Tacoma and 2020 Highlander Hybrid have been purchased in the last year. Pilot was passed down to the kid.
  • I would be forced to buying a killer camera so I could get some good pictures while we are on a Probably skip this one now.
  • Killer vacation. This would have to wait until the kids are both old enough to enjoy/remember it. Either that or it would be followed with another trip after they reach those requirements. At this particular point, this one would be nixed but not forgotten.
  • New house in Hawaii. Without a doubt.
  • Invest, invest, invest.

Oh, I thought of something. I would dream of winning even more. There is no word as "enough" in my personal dictionary.

Except for a few cars, there is actually nothing materialistic that 100% interests me, so I basically keep on living the same life, only with a few cars that I really want and a new house with a gym. Maybe, just maybe a house in Austria, a small place in Australia or New Zealand.

Could it be possible to buy a private island? Not those bare islands but an island with a lot of trees, a waterfall, a beautiful beach. Of course I need a beautiful yacht to get to the island.

Finally get my helicopter license. So basically, as I said, my life would be not much different from the life I have now because it will never come true. Maybe dreaming about it is better than actually owning it all.

That's all.

You can in the Philippines.

Depends on how much I win.

I'm not content with 1,000,000 euros. It has to be at least 10,000,000 or even better 130,000,000 euros. Even then, I'll don't think I have enough. :D

You'd be surprised at what you can buy in the Philippines - when a 4 bedroom house is just €45-50k, you could easily buy an island for €2-3m.

I forgot to mention that I really want a personal race track, a place where I can practice car control and learn to drift and a rallycross track.

Presuming I win Mega Millions:
  • sod-off Threadripper desktop for giggles
  • move somewhere reasonably out of the way
  • few cars I'd get (Sera/C5 &C8 Vette/SLS or RS6 Avant)
  • oddball one, but hear me out: open up a small-ish pro wrestling promotion. Nothing big, likely a regional thing, product would likely be kinda silly but not overly so.

I would buy an RV (nothing too crazy, just a class-B) and just drive around visiting various race tracks for a couple years before buying a nice chunk of land somewhere that doesn't have snow 6 months of the year.

Oh who am I kidding...

Forgot to say that I need a heap of different racing cars to use on my private tracks.

I just thought of a couple of other things to add:

1. Pay off the rest of my student loan.
2. Give my parents some of my winnings.

7. Start a car collection, there's so many cars I would want to buy with my millions. Then, I would be spending a lot of my time driving them for fun.
8. Buy a new computer plus some of the best gaming computer components I can get my hands on, to make a better gaming computer basically that can run the newer PC sims I want to play at 4k.
9. I would buy a bunch of sturdy book shelves and expand my video game collection. I would have a room in my dream house for this very thing.

With that said, I probably would be so excited if I won the lottery.

The funny thing is that in spite of the money I would have, I probably still wouldn't buy a PS5 or Xbox Series X right now. Hehe.

To note, the game collection would probably just be filled with more racing games that I don't have and maybe some more platformers (both 2d & 3d).
