Fly bomber upside down...........nope can't see that working either LOL
As for the time of day and weather effects theres a lot of combinations to chose from some of which really make you change the way you aproach a match, try capture the runway at dover at dusk.........you really need to get down low to even see the runways and a bit of map knowledge helps alot. as for the rain and low cloud cover, well hiding in the cloud bank or aproaching enemys from the cloudbank is a good tactic.
I have been playing with the control responces as well, personal preferance is setting ailerons and elivator to half, but thats with the flight stick, might be worth turning them down a bit for the pad as well, as the default setting is FULL! Certainly smoothes things out especialy controling the recoil from the guns. Talking of recoil very short bursts of fire tends to keep it controlable as well.
I'm glad that everyone who's bought this game seems to like it, if you haven't try the demo, make sure though you give it a good go and try it on the realistic and simulation settings rather than just arcade.

Quick update, was just on the IL2 official forums and there really listening to "issues" over there, plenty of input from the devs as well, aparently there working already on a patch for some issues I hadn't come across, also theres a number of differences between the PS3 and 360 version. from what I can gather the devs are not enamered to MS and like to use the PS3 as a less restrictive platform as examples alot? Seems the 360 has a few quirks online which don't apear on the PS3 either. but thats all being sorted in the patch.
This seems quite odd to me as 1C (development team) are stalwart PC developers and the 360 should have been the easier system for them. This dosn't seem to have been the case though from some of the devs "snide" coments LOL

That was me trying the upside bomber flying and i can tell you it does not work hit the earth very hard and have not woke since. LOL

I really hope when they give us a patch that we can keep the lobbies open cuz its a right pain making a room all the time and sending invite's.

Yeah recon 20 min lobbys instead of 10 min would be better too, especialy for strike and airfield, 10 min seems to fly by, scuse the pun LOL

Yes a 20min game or 30min if the room get full on sim mode would be better.

I finished the campain mode last night and if you have not been to berlin yet you are in for a treat as i think its the best mission's i have done in the game yet. So i have done every mission on relistice and the battle of britain on sim so will go and do it on sim know.

I should be on after the football tonight if anyone wants to go online?

Anybody else got tips for 'Nuts', I don't physically know what I'm supposed to be destroying, the P-51 is a dog aswell.

You just got to keep with the escort and not go chasing the fighter's every were m8 cuz they will get shot down if you are not there.

Anyone else had an isue with the " thrustmaster t-flight hotas x " on the mission with the IL2 the very first misison where you had to take out the ground artilary , and the joystick suddenly didt work ?? , i had to restart the mission cus of that = (

Also how in HELL can you use " gun view" with the thrustmaster t-flight hotas x, like i cant use the flaps controll to steer it with thats just stupid ?

glac

I have the Tmaster, the rear gunner is a pain BUT if you fire then move while fireing it works fine, try it you'll see what I mean.
The Flaps control question I didn't understand mate? can you re phrase it for us? If you mean setting the trim, you can easily do it for elivator, rudder and aelirons with the T'master, if you ment rudder control, you can either rotate the joystiq or use the rocker switch on the face of the throtle. Also flaps only kick in fully on sim, and I think realistic but not arcade.

Hi thanks for reply .
Sry my badly formulated question.,
I ment i palyed the game last night with the DUAL STICK, i realized that the gunner aim had to be controled with the RIGHT analog stick .
But what happends when you play it with the Joystick, will it be the main joystick for that ? or do i have to use the " side ruder controller, like twisting then joystick sideways, or pressing the two pads on the back of the left thrust contorller.
to aim.
This is what i had to do in Blazing angles 2, and ihad to switch to my Dualshock everytime i was using a gunner.

And why cant i see the controller layout for the flightstick, and wich is the best layout 1, or 2

cheers

Right got ya, ok you use the "top hat" control on the flightstick for the rear gunner. the top hat is the small thumb stick you use to look around, it's ontop and to the right of the joystick. But it's not great UNLESS you start shooting before you move it then it works a treat in rear gun mode.
OK next up the pictures of the T Master flightstick do not apear in the button layout section on both the demo AND the full game, this is being addressed with a patch (I think) however the buttons on the flightstick are all marked up with the correct PS3 insignia, including R3, L3 ect ect just use settings one and they corospond to those found in the book and also on pad settings one.

woot i have to use that tiny stick xD its so unstable though , like using it for the orders and stuff, it never hits the right place xD
Oh well,
IM glad to hear they are adressing this issue its nice to know.
I went to the official forum and got 2 pictures of the 2 layouts so i undestand how they work now =D

tanks again for quick reply apprecited =D

yeah i keep pausing then look at the back of the controlle to see there are some NEW buttons i didt even Realized i had lol xD i do LOVE the game thoughm, realism ftw ;D

Yeah it's one of those that you can sit there for hours on single player and set the level to allways be challenging, or just have a quick half hour blast on single missions. online you can go from a mad arcade shooter dogfighting round the cliffs of dover to epic team battles lasting all night. absaloutly genious, I still have a crack on the PC version after many years, I can see me doing the same on the PS3 version, as for the flight stick at £24.99 it's cheaper than a PS3 pad and adds alot to the feel of the game. Heres hoping for a steady stream of DLC from 1C

Well, that thing of the team dogfights lasting all night long, makes want this game even more...
And one more thing, in sim mode the plane is so unstable, i can hardly believe that in reality the plane reacts like that.

In arcade mode, the chalenge is more to shot down the enemies, while in the sim mode, the big chalenge it's to control the plane, and then try to shot down the enemies...
but the game sonds fun to me, can't wait to try online.

Yes I play with the T Master as well, makes the controls smoother, set them at 50% on both then adjust from ther to what feels good.

How do you do the mission Nuts!, It's driving me up the wall.

EDIT: Figured out how to, just slam yourself into the ground by the little german motorcycles to kill them, would have been better if you had missiles or bombs though :(.

Erm you have plus your guns and cannons.......but kamakazi is an option I supose LOL

I struggle as it is to shoot anything in the air thats not the size of a bomber and even taking out ground targets with bombs and rockets I find difficult so trying to hit a little man on his 25cc bike is just asking too much lol.

Plus im using the pad so you know, I don't have the precision that you guys with the stick have.

Well, the kamikaze option, great but to do it well its another thing, and in precision, depens in what are you talking about, i'm more precise with the pad in taking down planes but if you have to use the rudder, it's diffrent, but, overall, yes the stick's better than the pad

I'm playing with a pad and managed it, so it is possiable.

The main thing with a pad is to try and keep all your movements as smooth as you can and plan your attack run from a distance.

With bombing runs don't run full throttle if you can, a slower approach gives you a massive increase in accuracy.

yeah as scaff says, stick flaps on combat, throtle back to 40% zoom in on target nd just shoot in small bursts to compensate for the recoil of the guns. If you miss take a longer runup to give you more time.

I just got my copy last night. I really like the game.

However trying to complete the Simulator tutorial is driving me nuts.

I can simple not find the other planes I am suposed to shot down. I have tryed to restart it 3 times now. Once I managed to get to a point where I was supposed to bomb 2 vechiles near a farm, but I was never able to find those two eather.

So i just restarted after a while. I get to the point where I am supposed to shoot down the bomber, and then if I lose it off sight, i can never find it again.

I use the map to try and locate it, but even if i am near the yeallow dot wich is suposed to be the bomber, I can not find it.

I gues i just have to play this game on realistic.

Hmm, odd, hang on try the hud view rather than the cockpit view on simulation, especialy if your looking for somthing. the map should get you in the right area and pointing in the right direction then just take your time and look around, also the waypoint markers on that tutorial are hight related as well, so if your on level with the marker you should be at the right altitude to spot the enemy. Perservere it's worth it as playing on sim is where the game really has the most to offer in regards challenge. Just don't expect to be able to jump straight in and be able to do it.

Yes I will have to give it another go. I am kinda guy I cant just let it go lol.

Also I dident realise there was waypoint markers. I dident complete all the other tutorials maybe i should. I kinda just completed the first 3, and then jumped straight to complete realistic. and now stuck on the simulator one.
