I'm kinda stuck with GT4... Please read on..

I have finished al the European, American, Japanese and beginner events...

Most of the Pro events are also done already, but I'm at the last cup now : The GT World Championship.

At first, I tried to win it with a stock Mercedes CLK-GTR (the one I won from the DTM championship...).

I didn't work out for me.

Spent 90.000 on a stage 4 turbo, leaving me with +1050 BHP

Entered again, able to win a couple races but still not good enough to take the Championship.

I wouldn't mind if not that it kinda 'blocks' the game : I can't go on with the Extreme events.

What would you guys suggest to me? Thanks for all help/advice in advance

Cheers, Timothy

PS : please don't mind spelling-mistakes. I'm Belgian and English is not my first language...

I'm 3 races in with the minolta toyota, I think I can win the championship with it (tuned to 1200hp) but it's hard, got 6th on the hong kong race:( , the trick is to use hard tires, so u don't have to pit for ne of the races, but everyone else will, at least for me. oh, forget b-spec for this one guys, the ai is too stupid to even think of winning these races.

p.s. your english is fine, don't sweat it. good luck!!

The CLK is not a good car to win this championship UNLESS you are looking to prove that you are an AMAZING driver.

My advice: get something crazy fast like an audi R8 with stage 4 turbo and all types of racing tires... comes out to like 4.75 million credits (US $).

Hefty price to pay, but this makes it quite simple to complete. Just run racing medium in front/racing hard in back and youll be fine, even with pitting once... you can even runn soft/medium for one half and medium/hard for the other.

I always start with medium/hard and wait until the tires get pretty spent. Usually they last long enough so that you can run softer tires because you can run 2/3 of the race before pitting.

Good luck! and sorry i dont have a less expensive solution... however lots of cars should work... any LMP car should work pretty well, so if youve won one, just use that. Otherwise, pony up, or use endurance races to get one.

i won the F1 car and won the championship very easy. only missed gold on 2 of the races, but i bspec'd it and had to watch most of the races.

i was wondering if anyone has used the toyota 7 to win it?

i was contemplating it but i think that car is too beautiful to add mileage and ruin it. :dopey: .

I used the minolta with the stage 4 turbo.

use use racing mediums in the fronts and super hards in the back. youll never have to pit, and it handles like a dream.

if you want an assured victory, qualify for the pole position, not hard to do if you nos it out, then activly manage the race at x3 b-spec. I finished the series with 100 points.

So .. what is a good car to do this one with, and to maximise a-spec points?

Pescarolo Courage C60 '03. Super-fast, good tire mileage. Get R2 and R4 tires and the Stage 4 turbo. Great with stock suspension. Test in each individual event for tire combos and gear ratios, make note of them, and apply to each race when you start the championship.

Very important: Run the full practice lap before each race and it puts you on the pole on the starting grid.

B-Spec the individual races you're having trouble with. You can also enter and bail out of the championship until you get a field of competitors that aren't too tough. The Sauber C9, Toyota 88C-V, and Nissan R92 are the fastest. Keep re-entering the championship until you get a field without them, and it'll be easier.

oh, forget b-spec for this one guys, the ai is too stupid to even think of winning these races.

My B-Spec guy walked this. Driving the Chapparal 2J, and pretty much cleaned up. The advantage in the low speed corners really helps.

I beat the GT Championship with a stock 88-CV (just an oil change). Hong Kong was difficult, but other than that, I was able to win with good pit strategy and driving. My field included both Nissans (RC92 anx 89), the R8, a BMW LMP, and a Camaro LM Race car (poor Camaro). I plan to try it again with some of the other prototype cars (787b, Toyota GT-One, etc) in stock form. Using the CLK GTR is difficult at best. I tried and finished 4 points behind the AI in the final points standing.

win an audi r8 (errr i forget which enduro race) then use the r8 to win a nissan r92cp (fuji 1000)

then u can win the GT world champ (use rh tyres)

I'm using a Toyota 88C-V Minolta, and I use my Action Replay MAX to disable the AI. It's a cakewalk!

I suck at this game but even I won easily in a minolta without cheats.

I tried it with CLK GTR and I won 3 or 4 races, I gave up after because my other positions was 4th or 6th and finally I was losing the champ (yeah I know, I'm a bad loser), I've won the Minolta, I will try with it

I did it with the (stock) Nissan R89C wich i win with the last mission race!
You should make it easely than!
Only 1 tip! buy yourself some hard sport tires in stead of the medium.

Disable AI? but...but how can you tell the difference?!?!?!

I'm currently 4 races into the championship using my Jaguar XJR9. It's tuned to max hp.

It actually is proving to be pretty tricky. I owned Tokyo by a mile, I was using Mediums at the front and hards at the back, and pitted around lap6. When I pitted I was 25 seconds ahead.
Super Speedway was B-Spec'd, actually ended up coming in 3rd, which wasn't too bad at all. He would have won if it wasn't for the sharped corner on one lap, he seemed to skid a bit and end up hitting the outside wall, and grind along it for a few seconds. I would have come 4th if the R29C hadn't pitted at the start of the last lap...
Hong Kong was fun. Probably because I spun out on the first corner on the first lap after a little mix-up with the Mclaren. The entire race was playing catch-up. I got 1st a few laps before the end, made my second stop along with the R29C, but the Sauber stayed out and won, so I settled for 2nd.
Not much to say about Seoul. Well okay, there is. I won by about 40 seconds and lapped everyone up to 2nd place.

I'll hopefully finish the championship tonight.

I have the "Black Beauties" and i thought "good i can win easily with these amazing vehicles" well since they all have over 20,000 miles already on them they arent as good as the brand new ones....sooooo i tried with the GT Championship with the GT-One and it sucked. The AI is horrible in this game. I think ill play some enduros until i get a better car.

I won this series easily with the Black GT- One. You just have to be on pole and use harder tires than the AI. Its not very hard as long as you control the race. If you let the AI near you, they will beat your car off the track. The AI in this game blow's.

thanks for the tips, i'm stuck on this also. i have the black 787b, but i think it has too many miles to keep up with the non black lmp's. i shall overcome!

most simple way to do it (i think anyway)
1. do 24h race to earn formula gran turismo
2. its worth it cos after this championship ull need it in extreme events
3. start championship and ALWAYS qualify because the headstart gives u a little lead over the minolta which u have to have
4. start race and do it in a-spec then get a decent head start (its easy with the f1 car cos u can out corner ALL other cars) then when u need to pit change to b-spec and let ure driver take over set to 1/takeover on then ffw 3x and ull get through the races with more ease then

I didnt think the this championship was that hard.

I beat every race on my first try.

I even went back and did it again in the CLK GTR and ended up winning the championship... by 6 points... but i still won. (lol I DON"T recommend trying to win it in this car).

Just use any LMP car... and its simple.

3.5 million for a Mazada 787b, slap R3 on the front and R2's on the back. Stage 4 turbo if you're feeling insecure, stage 3 if your pretty damn good and stock if your god like.

I just finished it in my XJR9. Started from the back on every race.

Tokyo - 1st
Super Speedway - 3rd (B-Spec)
Hong Kong - 2nd
Seoul - 1st
El Capitan - 1st
New York - 1st
Suzuka - 1st
Paris Reverse - 2nd
Grand Valley Speedway Reverse - 1st
La Sarthe - 1st

Not sure if they were in the right order, but that's how I did. Picked up my GT, and I can't wait to get started on the Extreme hall.

I finally finished it.

I was looking for a solution, when I realised I almost had 50%

Raced some other cups, getting me 50%, then won the nice Jag for it.

Maxed it out, bought some super hard tires for the back en hard ones for the front, qualified in every race in pole, and just drove at 95% of my abilities, allowing me to make no mistake's and get 100/100

Won a nice Ford GT Race Car.

THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP GUYS !!

The CLK is not a good car to win this championship UNLESS you are looking to prove that you are an AMAZING driver.

Thanks for the compliment, won the Championship immediately the first time with the CLK-GTR, offcourse tuned to the max. I must say it was extremely difficult, underway thinking of giving up, but I continued and won ! :)
Front tyres were medium, rear tyres always hard. First I had hard tires in front as well but they wear so slow that I used mediums to improve the balance.

I had 75 points in total, here's my score in the 10 races:

Tokyo - 1st
Easy one, because I know the circuit very well from GT3.
1 Pitstop (Lap 5).

Motegi - 2nd
I lost some time in the beginning, solved that by only making 1 pitstop (lap 11).

Hong-Kong - 2nd
Pitstop in lap 9, which made that and the last lap extremely difficult because the tyres were quite gone. It paid off for me, the 3rd was only 0.2s behind on the finish, but with 1 stop more I wouldn't have been 2nd.

Seoul - 1st
I didn't raced this one reverse ever before, so I first took some practice. Due to the very good straight line speed I won very easily.
1 Pitstop (lap 10).

El Capitan - 4th
Not my favourite circuit I made many mistakes (about 5) but still got a good result by pushing hard near the end of the race.
1 Pitstop (lap 6).

New York - 1st
Good straight line speed made it easy for me.
1 Pitstop (lap 8).

Opera - 3rd
I took the lead, but waited too long for fresh tyres cause I wanted to do it one stop. That didn't worked out, so I stopped in lap 8 and 14, this last stop I took 4 medium tyres to push and take places, which worked out for me.

Suzuka - 2nd
Made some mistakes in the beginning of the race, but I came back and passed the 2nd car just 1km before the finish :)
1 Pitstop (Lap 6).

Grand Valley - 1st
Good race, took the lead and never gave it away.
1 Pitstop (Lap 6).

Le Mans - 1st
Easy race, pitstop in lap 3, had much more speed on the straight line as the other cars. Championship runner-up came last this time (weird).

Is it just me thinking that it might have been better if Gran Turismo 4 would have focussed more on stock cars and semi-racing cars instead of putting in these ultra fast machines? To me all these R8's and the likes drive like fast remote control cars. Forget about drifting, just cornering, speeding, cornering again etc... :P and it's too fast, haha.

I'm having a pretty tough time winning with the stock 88 Minolta. I've been B-specing, don't really feel like spending 2-3 hours racing all the races! I get gold on at least 5 of the races, then tank on New York and Hong Kong, coming in 4th almost every time....

I guess I'm going to have to take the time to actually race in A-spec to actually win.
