Hopefully I should get my hands on a 360 soon anyway so if this actually comes out in pal territories i'll probably get it.

I read through this for like 5 times, but I really have no clue what your question is, sorry. Please elaborate.

I don't have the means to produce pics or especially videos. There area lot of trailer and pics on the web though.

General update of my impression :

Ok I played about 20% through the single player mode.

I now have
- my start car ( Nissan Silvia S15, some little mods, ~270 hp )
- Custom car : ROLLING GUY No.1 (Toyota AE86, 261 hp )
- 2006 Subaru Impreza WRX STi with ~ 480 hp

This game seriously rocks ! It is absolutly addictive and imo the best game of the series. Of course Shutokou Battle 01 / Tokyo Xtreme Racer 3 had a lot more content ( three cities and more cars incl. foreign brands like MB ), but this time

- the gameplay is strongly improved... the handling is just fine, if you drive in
another car, wall etc it is entirly your fault, which I couldn't say in previous installments. And it's gameplay that counts, right ?

- grafics are the best of the series...ok they are not Xbox360 high class ( although the game is ALWAYS running at 60fps, I had not a single slowdown so far, even not against 3 rivals and traffic in a narrow part of the track ). The point is, that the increased view distance and the acuracy of the sourrunding in general make you really feel : this is Tokyo, not just a dark asian city. It is hard to explain, but having been in Tokyo for several times, Shutokou Battle 10 is the first satifying version of Genki racers concerning this aspect.
Of course there are some drawbacks... There are very few but 1 or 2 rather prominent pop ups in the game, which are not really annoying, but you'll notice them ( = especially 1... a whole skyscraper... it pops in rather late, not in front of you, but noticeable...about every 2nd time you pass... shouldn't go through quality control, but whatever ). If you focus, stop at certain places and postion your car in order to get a view on the little side streets and cornes or the sourrounding you'll find places where they simply stopped rebuilding the city... so you'll find simply nothing where streets and buildings should be. You won't notice that while racing though, I found out since I wanted to and have some knowledge of the real city. A little dissapointing, but it doesn't affect the game for the average joe.
The overall grafics-experience is very good though. The cars look stunning imo and the landscape/city can look as good as in PGR sometimes, not always and it strongly depends on the time you race ( night looks best > midnight > morning ). But the effects are nice, the reflections are all realtime, so are the light effects of your headlight, 60 fps, very fast, soem animated neon ads or the fary wheel in Odaiba...very nice.

- game structure.... as always very addicting with over 400 rivals. Money is rare though... or maybe I'd better say, the mods have insane prices... The final engine tune up costs as much as three Sklyine GT-R R34. Note however, that you are not able to install it from the beginning. You have to unlock the upgrade levels. If you want to to do that, oyu are forced to install let's say lv 2 and lv. 5 engine upgrades first. Level 5 costs as much as a Skyine, but if you want lv 6 you don't have to pay the 20% difference from lv5, no you have to pay for the whole upgrade, just as if you'd buy the level 6 upgrade for the stock engine.... And thisis only the engine. This goes for everything from clutch over brakes to muffler upgrades. A fully tuned car is maybe imo far over 100 mio credits, which makes it imo hard to get more than maybe 3 fully tuned cars at the end of the game ( although the 2nd, 3rd etc cars are "cheaper" since you are then able to start with max level upgrades right from the stock car ). So why is that hard ? If you race an enemy you'll get a lot of money, but only once ! The 2nd etc races against the same enemy are paid much much less ( maybe 10-20 % of the original prize money )... And there are speed cams at certain places... so sometimes you also have to pay a speeding ticket... Last time I payed 50k credits for 25 km/h over the allowed speed..

Ok gotta go to university now, I'll update sometime later this day or within the next two days. All I can say is, that this game is freaking awesome, I absolutly love it, and I didn't even touch the online mode yet ( ok one race, just to check if it works ). If you like the series, don't be afraid of the small amount of cars, there is now way you won't like this game...really not...

..woww great explanations .. hmm why they diddnt produce on ps2 arghhhh

..woww great explanations .. hmm why they diddnt produce on ps2 arghhhh

'Cause producing a cross-generation game would have strained Genki's limited resources even further, handicapped the graphics engine's capabilities to a PS2-compatible level, and produced a quite useless TXR with a neutered car selection and wonky, laggy (if even available) online play that couldn't possibly compare to XBOX Live.

Small update... After my day in university I was quite tired, so i only got some gamerscore points by running time trials. I used my 480 hp Impreza with lv 1 soft tires and a lv3 suspension. This car is capable of gaining all gamerscore points in time trial, but depending on your skills and route it is a very very close race. You might want to add some mods, especially on the Shinjuku route, I need to find another 6 seconds before I get that one, but I probably just need to practice the track a bit.

Here are the requirements to get you an idea of how "big" the tracks actually are ( especially for those who don't know the previous games ). With that 500 hp car, driven at the limit with good knowledge of the track and without traffic you need :

3 min 30 sec for the Shibuya route ( C1-Sibuya-C1 ) 40 points
5 min for C1 ( both directions ) 40 points each
6 min for C1- Shinjuku - C1 40 points
6 min for C1- Odaiba/Haneda circle ( both directions ) 40 points each
16 min 30 sec for Odaiba - C1 - Shibuya - C1 - Shinjuku - C1 - Odaiba ( both directions ) 40 points each

Have you heard anything about new downloadable content?
Nope and I must add that what I know from my second LIVE account ( Japanese ) developers in Japan use the marketplace very very little. There are hardly demos ( apart from the ones you also get in the rest of the world ) and even less stuff like pics or themes videos etc...
There might have been a little update though, since my 360 was updated as I first played the game...

EDIT : UPDATE... ok, so I am about 40 % through the quest mode, I simply can't stop playing anymore... it is really really addictive. I wanted to play this game slowly in order to have a bigger funperiod with it, but this game soaks you in and
when you are driving in your car through the neon lights of Tokyo you always say to yourself : ok, just one enemy more... after that you think, oh well, Let's challenge the whole team and after that you see either a wanderer or another new team in front of you... and the multiplicator sheme pushes you to drive against as many enemies in a row as possible... after 10 or 15 races you get twice the amount of money for a win - well just if you win every race of course...
And money is indeed a problem. As I thought. I've beaten all regular enemies in night and midnight, there are maybe 30 regular and a ton of wanderes and bosses left. And wanderes and bosses bring more money, for sure, but you have to realize that I really save as much money as I can and all I have atm is 20 mio credits. And I'll have to invest a good part of it into my car now if I want to beat more enemies. My 473 hp Impreza is hardly competitve anymore.
I am just guessing now, but I think, apart from my main car, I have well 20 mio credits in my hands and spent about 5 mio total for my S15 Silvia an 2 mio for my Trueno. So that would be about 30 mio...my Impreza, well maybe like 20 mio perhaps... so let' say 50 mio. But fully tuning the Impreza costs me up to another 100 mio credits I think. As explained in one of my last posts, other fully tuned cars will be a little cheaper, maybe 20-25 % cheaper, but still... Three fully tuned cars could be all you can get...maybe 4 if you get huge amounts for the bosses and wanders... But wanderers are another point. If you want to beat all of them you will have to invest some money...for example buying a RX7, because a certain wanderer only races against RX7's... which you have to tune of course... oh well, we'll see.

Still, this game rocks, I have to say it again...

Ok I'm 80% through the story mode, short update :

- The game gets better and better, it is awesome. It is very challenging and my 475 hp Impreza is still able to beat the enemies, although it is a hard piece of work sometimes. But that is the strategy you should use. Tune as little as possible, in order to save money. I still don't know if it is easily possible to get ,more than 2 fully tuned cars. I have about 100 mio credits and I still have to invest about 50 in my Impreza to get Level S everywhere ( not all Level S are availible so far ). A fully tuned car costs about 70 mio I think. But I only have a few bosses left ( about 5 I think, they bring 4 mio each ) and many( 40 maybe?) wanderers that bring about 0,5 mio each. Some can be combined ( and therefor bring like 10% more ), but you also have to buy cars for some of them ! So I think you can probably buy only 2 fully tuned cars, unless there is a huge prize money at the end of the game at 100% completion or so...

Graphics : well the popup issue is a little more serious than I though. Especially at morning time ( which is almost daylight ) there are quite a lot of them. Sometimes ( rarely though ) even the track in front of you disappears and you fly :D...well I think that Import Tuner Challenge won't have these popups anymore... It is not really a fun killer, 99% of the pop ups are buildings at very specific parts of the track and in a a rather far away distance. the handling is great, the game is fun and running smooth. It also looks great most of the time, so the pop ups are ok...

Strategy : Race as many opponents ina row as possible. You get the multiplication factor of 2 at maximum, which means : double prize money in a game which doesn't really give money away easily. I raced up to 40 enemies in a row. It is not that easy in the beginning, but as soon as you have like me a 475 hp car with some little mods on tires, suspension ( nothing big, maybe lv 1 or 2) you can beat most enemies.

Just make sure to race the enemies in curvy parts of the track. The handling of the cars is absolutly great, so you can drive fast there, whereas the CPU opponents strugle in the corner parts and drive by far too slow. Which is great for us ;). If you race an tuned Skyline on the Odaiba straight part, you have no chance with an inferior car. Race it on C1 and you'll win. Also try to block the opponents at the start, sometimes it works.

Stay tuned for more updates in the near future...

Any questions ?

How many guages can you get/Install?Can you buy a motec dash like in C1GP?

Possible interior mods : Install up to 4 gauges at 5 different places of your choice : 3 spots above the middle console and two spots at the A-ehm--- A... I don't know the word in English, however I hope that you understand it anyway :
Let's say between the front window and the first right window . If you install a cage, then these two spots are in the same area, but on the cage.
There are 4 different brands availible, HKS for example.
You can have a different wheel, although you don't see it while racing.... 4 in total...
You can have different seats, again 4 models from Recaro and Bride. You can choose the color of the seats (black, red, blue etc ). You can also change the interior color to for example red green blue etc. Certain parts of the middle console and the speedo are then, well colored.
Last but not least you can also put a little gimmick on your middle rear view mirror... oh well... ;)
That is all you can do.

The light effects are very nice in the interior. The streets lights reflect in everything and when you race, the car behind you makes the interior shine very bright ... until you smoke him ;)

I am 90 % through the game now, I need to beat the final boss ( find him first though ;) ) and about 40 wanderers. I can now confirm that - if you save your money and don't waste it - owning 3 fully tuned cars will be possible. Depending on the reward for the final boss, maybe even 4, but only if the reward is very high....

My Impreza is now on level S in every category, which means : 715 hp on 1100 kg ... It is damn fast, although nothing beats the Skyline R34. I tuned it for fun ( didn't save though, although I will probably buy one ) and it had way over 800 hp and ~ 1300 kg... This thing goes 400 km/h on the straight part of the Haneda/Odaiba route !!!!
The Rx7 doesn't get over 550 hp, although it is rather lightweight. Can't compete on level S I'm afraid. The Supra is damn fast on Level S, and according to the network timeattack ranking there is another car, which is at least a cornering machine : the Datsun.... I can't buy it yet, but it is the final boss.

Nice preview, well so far there seem to be no additions to the japanese version, which would be great, since you couldn't race against Asian players otherwise...

Well I played some online, although racing against Asian players is not that easy if it is 4 am in Japan :D
Single player mode is at 92 %, with teh Wanderers and the final boss left. Sadly there is no complete wanderer list on the internet, so I might have a hard time beating all enemies and well the last boss, since apparently you can only race against him after having beaten all wanderers, at least I think so...

Thanks DC keep us updated.Awsome job.

Thanks :).

Well, yesterday I raced against a few wanderers and did some online. Those who are familiar with the TXR series know that racing against the wanderers is not really a fluid thing, since they require very specific situations ( your car has to have a spoiler, a vinyl sticker, no spoiler, has to be a Mazda, a Custom car, a sedan, neon, no neon, meters installed...or you have to enter three times from acertain point of the track, daytime, direction, only appears on mondays etc etc ), so you can maybe race 1 or 2 in a row, back to menu, save, change conditions and go back... and of course you have to look it all up on the internet, since I don't speak Japanese. But in the gameguide I have, the wanderers are sorted by their number, so in order to identify them you have to go to the rival list in your game and find it. Then you have to identify their appearance. Which means reading Japanese characters... because there is a difference between entering A road from a parking lot or starting on the road, then next question : which direction ?

Oh and so far it is running very stable, 90% of the races ( no matter if I am the host or not ) are totally lag free, soem have little lag and one or two times the connection was lost. It really is a lot of fun, since you can of course use your own cars, but although the standart untuned cars and all custom cars you have unlocked ( no need to buy them for online racing )... so if you want, you can arrange very fair races, although so far I only raced with my cars.

So after abouut 3 or 4 runs you get tired and well go back to the quite enjoyable online mode.
It is very satisfying to race with a fully tuned Skyline R34. I win most of the races, although I raced against the numer 3 in worldwide statistics 3 times and lost 3 times. But, and I have to say this, after two days of racing and only 35 races I am already on place number 166 in worldwide statistics. And I would be even better, if I could race at Asian friendly times. Atm I can only play in the evening, which is 2 am to 6 am in Asia. Hopefully I can race a lot on Sunday morning....

Edit :WTF I just typed in a lot and it all disappeared. Well then I say it again.

The online mode runs very smooth, 90% so far have been totally lag free, no mather if I am the host or not.
You can choose normal cars and all custom cars you unlocked ( no need to buy them for the online mode ) and of course your own cars.

This may have been covered already, but does your car still overheat if you stay out for too long and push it too hard? Also TXR 3 had an option where you could press select and raise the boost on the fly to give your car an extra kick (though at the cost of overheating faster). Is that still in the game?

Ehm there is a heat meter, and it gets hotter, but imo not as fast as last time, a little more realistic so to say.
Well, then there is the nitro boost, a very useful tool.

wowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

:D oh well, yes indeed ...

Yesterday I battled a few wanderers and played a lot of online.
First of all, I am now at 95% in the quest mode, but my only internet source for wanderers doesn't have a lot more to offer, leaving me with at least 15 wanderers... Well, I hope that several people of the online mode - some of them are already in my friends list - can help me to get the info of the last ones. I even found an Italien player, who has beaten 100% of the game, I saw him in the online ranking.

Which brings us to the online mode. It is really addicting and very rewarding imo.
There are two modes : Network Time Attack and Network Battle.

Network time attack lets you chose between your cars, custom cars and stock cars on several ways through Tokyo. Some times are insanely good, considering the fact that I drive the same car ( for example a full powered Skyline GT-R (R34) ).... It is a matter of setup... while I do have a lot of experience from many racing games, I didn't play around a lot with the setup so far, maybe I should do. You can do a lot, not as much as in GT4, but almost.
Yesterday I drove two tracks, each only one time, and I ranked in the low 30's of the worldwide ranking... I guess it is ok for one try, although the top 5 are over 20 seconds faster - talking about a 4.30-5 min track.... So there are still a lot of improvements to do. One way, is watching the replays. I pressed the A button of the fastest player and a replay of that particular run loaded. You can even see the intensity of steering and braking/accelerating, just like in GT4. I think that this is possible for every race in the network time attack, but I didn't confirm this yet.

Network Battle, well, it is a lot of fun, although it is not as crowded as you'd like it. Asian time zones, as I said before. This should be a lot better after it got released in Europe/ USA, well, if it is the same game....

I am currently ranked 95 in worldwide competition ( out of a few thousand ), well and I don't intend to stop my way up the ladder :D.

So far I have a win/loose ratio of about 3:1, which is rather good compared to the rest of the pack...One reason might be, that I didn't play online before my two cars were Level S (maximum ) in all categories... I won several races against top 10 and even the third player in statistics and I can't wait to race again. It is a lot of fun, very stable ( well sometimes there is lag, but it is ok and still playable ) and so far I only met fair racers. There is no " ramming me into croners" or whatsoever. I like that.

In general it works like this : you can start a new game. Then you are the host. Decide which track and how many races ( 1,2 or 3... 3 races can mean up to 4 or 5 races in total ). It works like this: Everybody starts his online career with 2500 points and a win - first depending on the amount of races (1,2,3) in total, second on the amount of those total races you could win and third on the ranking of your enemy -will get you a certain amount of points, ranging from 0 ( you lost ) over 200 ( you lost overall, but could win one race ) to way over 1200 points ( probably even more ).
I don't have the impression, that loosing a battle takes points away from you, which is great, since you can also battle difficult enemies or, if you are a pro, you can battle weak members without having to fear to loose an enormous amount of points.
Of course you see the loose/win ratio and the average amount of points you got in all battles. So you can still identify pro players...

This was the ranked battle, of course there is also a friendly battle... here you can invite a friend, which is not possible in ranked matches...

Any questions ? feel free to ask....

When do i get myn lol:D
Probably October ;)

Ok... Wohooo finally through the quest mode, I could beat every wanderer and the final boss. Why ? I found a way to find better wanderer lists... in Japanese. I copied a few japanese signs ( which say : Shutokou Battle X ) and googled them in combination with the term "wanderer" and well... I simply translated the pages with google into English and I got the info :) Well... I needed two lists, since the translation was very strange sometimes, but hey whatever :D

Ok I go to bed now, so just a few things I have to add:

I now have 150.000.000 credits left, which means : another 2 fully tuned cars, or 4 in total. That is all you can get for the online mode, but I think that is enough...
Ehm I have 900 gamerscore points atm, I get the last 100 after I've beaten another 25 people online, which only takes a few hours ( only one hour if a lot of players were online ... the time zone problem I mentioned several times.)

Ok, final conclusion : the game rocks, absolutly rocks... Maybe I'll find time to make a proper review in the next view days...

See you on the Shutokou anytime soon... :)

Was it worth all the money?

For me it certainly was.For me it is the best racing game for 360, by far, and I will enjoy it in future... I also found out that I can start the game again without loosing my current money and cars, which would allow to get anonther 4 fully tuned vehicles !!! And then the online mode, really great.

But of course you have to consider many things... like that I can buy brand new games for a final 33 EUR... 33 EUR incl. shipping and anything ... a new game in Germany costs at least 50 EUR incl shipping. That is a solid 15 EUR difference per game. So I can save a lot of money and therefor pay the 2nd console from that money ....
And I like Japanese games a lot, there might be several games in future , like for example Kengo : Zero ( although nthe famitsu rating is not that great ), which are not availbe at all in western markets or just as in this case months later...
And some other more personal stuff like exams/tests in university : I have time now, the autumn is not that free for me... Loosing half a year in university now mean loosing half a year income of a medical doctor, which is a lot if you know what I mean. So it is worth the money for me, maybe not for others. I didn't regret it for a second so far. Also note, that i could easily sell the jp 360 for the same money I bought it, but I see no reason why I should tbh... Now that the PS3 is delayed ( again very good for my university career ;) ) I need even less money than I thought this year, so...
But I need new front brakes for my Impreza... tell you what... 1500 USD just for new brakes in front of my car...1500....WTF....Brembo premium prices I guess

I'm gonna buy that game because of you. Any disapointment will be your faulth.
