In car view?

Does anyone know if there will be a proper in-car view in GT4? It'd be cool if it actually looked as though you were sitting in the car rather than lying on the bonnet.

I'd very much doubt they'd be a proper dash view if thats what you mean. It'd triple the work(+) to make cars with dashes too (even though it'd be ace) although they could do it like Race Driver where theres like 5 cockpits with interchangable manufacturer logos.

A proper dash view would be sweet. Have you ever seen the inside of a TVR Tuscan? I'd be happy just being able to see the bonnet and the edges of the windscreen.

Ah well, even if they just have the same views as in GT3 it'll still kick arse.

PSM vaguely "confirmed" a view where you can see the hood but that is still not an in-car view. I remember games for PS1 with in-car views. Why can't we get one in GT4?

We probably wont see detailed interiors in GT4, since if PD is including 500+ cars in exquisite detail, the game disc is going to be very crowded. And knowing PD's perfectionist attitude towards developing games, they would need to get the interiors PERFECT. And a detailed interior of 500+ cars would take up an insane amount of space. Something like that might be possible for a PC game since everything installs to an HD, but not for a PS2 game since everything is read off a DVD, which although has a large capacity, it can only hold so much info..

It would be nice if they at least replicated the actual speedometer and tachometer (assuming the car has one), similar to what has been done in some of the Need for Speed games. That couldn't take up too much space I would think, even taking into consideration the number of cars.

i think a bonnet view would do me...

i am playing wrc2 in "in-car view" and its hard to judge distances ect... bonnet is better

an in car view would just take up space, come on who uses a dash view when there trying to win...the hole thing blocks your view

what was that all about in the SEMA car show buick thread with the in-car view talking about how it even had fire extinguishers visable? - or was that just a model of the car?

That was about the car not GT4, nothing about an incar or bonnet view has been confirmed by PD.

We know that the convertibles have at least decently modeled interiors... I cite the video of the 350Z cabrio with its top down. The driver shifts gears... it's awesome.

I agree. It would be very cool....and it's not like there aren't other games out there that do it already!

As for it taking extra time - they're already taking a long, long time on the game. That doesn't mean I'm not going to get it - I've been hooked since GT first came out :) ...but the longer they wait, the more I expect.

Geez, an in car view would take years for ALL of the 600+ cars, not to mention the extra disc they'd have to make just for them. Then the PS2 would have to render all of that on the inside of every car before every race making the game take even longer to load on top of the updated graphics for the exterior of the car and the terrain. Right now, if you want to see GT4 on the shelves within the next decade, I think you should be happy with whatever comes out, as most people will be. But yeah, it would be cool.

np

Sure an incar view is very pretty and lovely but come of it have you ever used the dash view in NFS or TOCA when your trying to actually race to your best and beat some one? if the answer to that is yes, you are wierd :)

Yeah that was what I was thinking.

Just have the standard 'bumper' cam but replace the tach and speedo with the same tacho and speedo from the real car!

How awsomely realistic would it be....

You're sitting behind that official GT4 steering wheel with 900 degrees of rotation with a gearstick at your side....
Seeing the revs of your dream car go up those dials along with the car's speedometer along with the engine singing

I would much prefer a bonnet cam than an incar cam, in Toca I never used the incar views, and especially when I'm using a wheel and you see another wheel on the screen. Alo a bonnet cam would just be adding another camera view, no extra rendering or anthing that would slow the game or the loading times down.

I wonder where all those disk space claims come from?

Did you people ever bother to decompress the GT3 volume? Each car has around 500kbyte. Even if it was ten times that much at around 5MB. Take a DVD9 and you could still fit 1000 cars on there.

The videos fill up the GT3 DVD. Without them you can comfortably fit GT3 within ~1GByte of space.

Sheeeesh.

It would be really nice if PD made in car dashes for each car. From my experience, in Battle Gear 3, playing in this in car view is awesome, it really adds that extra feel of being inside an RX7, Skyline, Integra, etc... because each car has its own dash resembling its real life features.

Yeah, with a wheel it's kinda disorientating having a second wheel on the screen at the same time. A bonnet cam would do me fine.

With the 350Z roadster you can only race against 1 other 350Z roadster. So i'm assuming it takes too much out of the PS2 to have more than two cars on track with that amount of modeling.
