When your drifting, do you go with the bumper cam or the chase view? I just want to know to see what the better drifters on the site use. :)

Always in car. Always. However I know some very good drifters that use the 3rd person view. So it's all up to your style.

wow i never knew so many people went in car...

i used chase came (outside the car) so i can see the whole track...somehow i think the in car view restricts the view of the whole track.

That's true.

I drift with a first person perspective. Third person lags a lot for me, so I tend to spin out more than I do from inside the car.

It's all preference though ;)

that is how I feel also

Dang.. I go out side.. when i got in side i drift better but i want to see how close my car is to the the edge of the turn... so i dont hit the durt or grass and spin out.. but if i do inside i can get as close as i can with the front of my car.. so i use both.... i guss.. more 3rd.. though..

first person here...i dunno why, but i cant drift in 3rd person anymore..thats how i used to drift...and i griped in first person..then i tried drifting in first person...its feels a lot better for me...and i know when to turn in and all the gauges are in the middle :dopey:

You know... 1st really isn't first... it's more like -1st... you don't drive while sitting on your fender do you? No, you sit in the cockpit... THAT would be 1st person.

Exactly.... If they had a good hood view, I might consider using the 1st person view.... With the view from the bumper it makes it harder to judge upcoming turns....

If you haven't guessed, I use 3rd person.....

;)

I use Bumper view, but in widescreen mode to make up for the lack of viewing range.

The lack of viewing range has more to do with how low the camera is..... With the camera that low, there is less perspective....

i use in car view cus you can kinda "feel" the handle more like when your losing traction. i can get close to the prime race line with first person view also, so yeah

im all for first person view...although i used to drift in third person

I might give bumper cam a bit of a try then. I normally drive chase for drift and bumper for racing but I want to try out different methods so I drift the best I can. I also find that if you use a 750 bhp skyline MONSTER on sims, you need to be VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY gentle on the throttle or you just don't stop sliding. Well thats what happens in GT2 anyways. Maybe O should go with a lower horse power car? Sure I've got a bunch on 200-300 hp cars that I drift in but still...

I use the bumper/1st person/In-car camera.

It seems to me that in rear-wheel drives there is one borderline angle in a drift where you're just losing sight of the line you're taking yet you aren't quite at the point of no return. I'm always too much of a wuss though so I prefer to lay off gas and let the car recover itself than try to stay at that angle.

Always used the 3rd person view (chase cam) you can see the track better ;)

Used to drift in third, then one day I tried 1st and loved it. Gotten better since. I used to always watch my tail to make sure I didn't pitch it out too far or that I was still on the road, but once I switched I dunno, it's like I'm more focused on my drift and not my cars's bootie/drift angle :dopey:
