Great race, finally not a last place. My goal was not to be last. But i had the feeling i could do better today.

My start was perfect. But i got bumped in the first corner. I did a nice donut, and started the race again from behind. However my pace was decent, and compared to other races i was very concentrated, made no mistakes at all. I gradually crawled behind YingYang, Andre and Joey. All pitted early, I was confident whit the tyres and still holding the pace, so i decided to switch to a 1-stop strategy. Now running in 4th place a yellow car overtaked me and i lost my focus becaus of it. A crash in the fast chicane was my punishment. Still whit this mistake things looked good. My tyres started to drop of a cliff. had to brake early and lost seconds each lap. But everything still looked fine. But now i made my biggest mistake, i stayed out 1 lap to much. Made a crash again at the highspeed chicane, my tyres were gone. I had to crawl to the pits. I lost all my time, and after my stop i got behind YingYang and andre again.

I knew nothing was lost. I had the better tyres, and catched-up easy. Andre pitted when i came near him and YingYang decided to park hes car in the wall, to bad, i looked forward to battle whit him. Kyaw was behind me becaus of a pitstop and started to attack me. I knew he was faster + he had better tyres. But i was counting on the slipstream. I got Bumped a few times, i think he did't now i had to brake quite early. After some laps the battle ended in a disaster, on the (start/finish)straight, i choose to outbrake him on the right side, but he was waving to the right side, i had nowhere to go so i hit the grass while braking. Lucky my gap whit YingYang and Andre was big enough.

I was maybe the slowest, but i had the feeling if i had a better start i could end up in the midfield...

The phone rang and I looked down to see who it was and that was when I went straight into the wall lol. What's even worse was I got a txt saying "called you by accident, sorry". Wth!! Lol!

did someone else did a 1 stop-strategy?

Tried!

Pitted lap 18 with very slightly under half tank, put 5 litres in, lap 32 had to pit and lose my place to joey for 10 litres of fuel!

I would have thought mpg would have been better in second half as the car would be lighter?

Makes me hate my phone. Ringer off face down during races for me from now on. Used to do this. Got away from as I got to know the tracks. Had a few incidents recently that was phone related. So back to the no phone during race regimen.

In GT5, does fuel weight really matter? :scared:

awch, anyways i think i could easly overtake you, my tyres where new and you had to pit?, anyways whats your phone number, it can become handy some time:sly:

Quiet happy with the result. The qualifying when much more better than i thought, reached 1.41.6xx a 10' from arkano's pole.
The start was heavy, got rammed 1ste and second chicane, lucky i saw it coming and braked earlier to correct the impact.
After few laps arkano and me had a little gap with the rest. Helping each other out with the massive slipstream and the "to dangerous to attack' avoid corners, the gap got bigger.
Then i shifted 1 gear down too much, blocking the front wheels and going off the track. Arkano was gone and i got back in 5th pos.
Pitted lap 18. After piiting pushed the car every lap, to try to close the gap with the front. Netherdragon and Arkano were 5-6 secs in front, battling it out. After 5-6 laps i caught up. We did few change of positions three of us. Arkano waited the right moment, were his car was the fastest on track, to step on the accelerator. I got stuck with Netherdragon (fun). Dough his tires were finished, impossible to get away with the slipstream. Waited few laps more and passed on the right moment. Arkano was gone and won with a 16 secs, deserved. Monza wasn't my track, Tokyo will be better.

Thanks for race!

greetz,
Gp

I don't like Tokyo, it's going to make me miss part of the Le Mans race. :(

don't like it either, but we can make the best of it.

Anyways i just saw the replay, it was a great race. I noticed It was EricAndre who hitted me at the first corner, he is evil ;)

I also noticed that Arkano, Phil, GP-Cian cutted corners almost every lap. I was wondering how it was possible to drive 1:41.XXX. Specially the first corner, it is so obvious. the cuts are very big, your cars are almost near the white blocks on the left side of the corner. I also did shortcuts every now & then by mistake. I assume everybody did it at some point. But YingYang, EricAndre, Me, Joey and Kyaw did there best to take the corner on the right way. 👍
I don't want to make it a big deal, just reconsider the rules in the future races:tup:

I reckon you'll win Tokyo, I'm just gunna keep hitting the barriers

Oh yeah, I forgot about Le Mans :O Ah well, it's a 24 hour race :p

Whilst I'm pretty guilty of getting cheeky with corners in the race, my qualy lap was legit. I drove my 1.41.4xx with at least 2 wheels on the track each time. Most of my 'cuts' on the second chicane were literally due to my braking too late with poor tyres and when I did cut the chicane, I usually lifted the trottle because the curb would make my NSX spin. I am guilty of cutting the last chicane, but in my defense, it was because I saw everyone else do it too :(

Also, the only time I did a 1.41.xxx in the race, was at the start when I had slipstream. IIRC the vast majority of my lap times were 1.42's and 1.43's. :p

I don't think it would have changed mine or GP's position, we were pretty much driving the same line.

The championship is getting closer and closer between different people right now!

Now let's just hope I keep that #1 position :p

EDIT:

Seriously unlucky for GP getting held up behind Netherdragon, could have had some great racing between us otherwise :(

I would be willing to join, it's Saturday at 4pm for me, so I should be fine.
I'll need a "teammate" I guess, and I'll have to go give some cars a whirl, and be back.

Don't worry about teammates, since we haven't had a consistent amount of people at each race (usually it's 9 or 10 depending on who turns up and who doesn't) I've pretty much left the teams system out for this season.

EDIT:

From watching the replay, it's quite clear Kyaw pushed Maxi off the track on lap 32 into turn 1 :|

It weren't because I wasn't trying, I am having to play on DS3 and it just won't make lock to lock quick enough!

You don't have a wheel? :o

Also Phil, try putting in more fuel next time lol :P

Oh, and guess who's wipers were on the entire race? Mmmhmmmm.

Ah well, i didn't mean to just push you off the track. I was just really frustrated at the time and made a bad judgement.. i'm really sorry about this Maxi, as you could easily came in front of Netherdragon if not for the spin.

Got DFGT but brake is always slightly on, plus I haven't got anything stable and comfy enough to put it on!

BTW Do you guys do engine and body refreshes before every race?

Did em last race, only changed oil this race and am down to 505bhp from 518 and I don't use it any other time!?

I only do an oil change about ~15 minutes before qualy starts each weekend. I haven't done a body or engine refresh at all, and I've had my NSX since before the first pre-season race at Suzuka.

I did find it felt better when I did it, but that's a lot of credits every race!

Well it's taken me months to go from 9mil to 10mil just by doing these championship races & practices lol.

Ha, I get excited when I got 1million!

My most expensive purchase was 3.6 mill Ford GTtest car, took me ages and ended up selling half my garage to get it!

I hate grinding!

I think Erik owns 50% of it too, remote racing!

Cheers Erik!

The cars line up on the grid, my wipers are on already

Mostly clean through the first corner, save for Phil dive bombing down the inside!

T0GgWh.jpg

Phil jumps in front of everyone at the start of the second lap.

vcQnwh.jpg

Kyaw forgets what tarmac looks like at the exit of the second Lesmo corner.

yKabeh.jpg

Me and GP running side-by-side through the entire Ascari chicane, I end up lifting to let him through on the exit.

GP going for a drift around the Parabolica! Bon Voyage.

0U7kvh.jpg

I come in for my one and only pitstop, god bless one-stop strategies.

Yslquh.jpg

GP comes in for his one and only pistop too, I continue ahead again.

w2oWwh.jpg

I've already gotten past Netherdragon at this point, but GP ends up stuck behind him for a long time.

Holy balls! Look at that track design, awesome job PD. Whilst Joey arrives in the background.

YEHi7h.jpg

Kyaw & Maxitsu both going at it, lets see how this turns out.

Oops..

3Q4snh.jpg

Phil has to pit a third time for fuel and loses out on what would have been third place to Joey!

Victory shot! Huzzah!

I did't notice that you ended up before Netherdragon :ouch: I was't mad but now it feels really painfull :indiff:

Mistakes happen, maybe i had to be smart and stayed behind you and take the lead at the next straight. Usual when i am behind someone i say to myself "easy, easy, easy". but i never listen...:yuck:

That's usually how i **** up as well...

You just have to get used to driving around people. Knowing when to defend and when to attack. It also depends on who it is you're driving against in a particular battle.

For example if you watch whenever me & GP get into a battle on track, it's usually always clean and fair.

Race 4 video is up, watch in HD and don't forget to like the video. :)

Nice vid Joey, will watch later (after work).

Regarding hitting people from behind I find that it's usually a combination of getting excited because I'm finally catching up to the guy in front of me and forgetting that my higher speeds moves the brake point.

We have this rule/tip in our league:

"When you are following another car, be it a driver you’re battling for position with, or a slower car you’re attempting to lap, always be weary of when they will brake for corners. If you are behind a car, you should be prepared to brake around 50 meters before where you would normally slow down for that turn. If you are following multiple cars, you should be slowing down even earlier. You shouldn’t be waiting for their red brake lights to come on."

When I'm behind someone I try to break on the inside of them, whether I want to overtake or not. Firstly you shouldn't run into their backside; but you will also lose the slipstream, helping you slow down. Obviously this doesn't work on lap 1 since everyone is side by side but it should help later on in races.
Knowing me this advice will cause multiple accidents in the next race so I am prepared to edit this post and deny ever writing it
