Happens to me on any page in the forum. Especially slow on pages with a lot of thumbnails or other images. One time IE gave me a message that scripts on the page were causing delays, would I like to keep running them? and I of course said no, after which things were better.
The behavior is basically as follows: Click a link to a thread, you see the top of the thread's page. Try to scroll down, and IE hangs for 10 to 30 seconds. Try to scroll further, another hang. Try to get all the way to the bottom in one step, it might take 2 minutes. Then it will hang as you go back up. Eventually, you will be able to scroll all the way up or down the page, but then you go to another page and start all over.
I use the forum from 3 or 4 different PCs, and it's much worse on the slow-boat I have at home than on the multi-gigaHz monster at the office. I've never thought until just now to watch CPU% while I'm in the site, but I'll take a look at that.
Edit: Here's what I got watching CPU utilization on a 1.6-GHZ P4, Win XP Pro, 1-GB RAM. There was no reading or scrolling, just navigating as quickly as I could.
Another follow-up: Just found the La-a-a-a-a-a-a-g thread
https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=76093 and followed advice to turn off green text links and pop-ups in my MyGTPlanet Options, and all is well. Instant response again. I suspect it's the text links doing it.
