Funny thing is this Star Mazda is a tough car. Must be built out of the same material they put in tanks. My car had all kinds of damage that last race. That dude tried to dive bomb me and slammed right into the tail section. Then my car was a little off balance and I slammed into a wall a little later. Had it towed and after I left the pits it drove like brand new. I hope they never mess with this car's damage model cause its just plain awesome.

Maybe all my races in the super brittle HPD has helped me to keep these other cars on the road. Only race I've had to quit so far was when I blew my engine.

Looking forward to new cars, I am quite over the damage prone open wheelers to be honest.

You should drive the mustang mate. Bigger cars, can take damage a lot more and generally you can have good racing in them. I did a race the other day at Summit Point that had 20 odd cars (AUS night time).

Or you can drive the V8 Supercar on Sunday or Monday nights, those cars are like tanks. :D

Hey Swifty I just watched your Skip Barber race at Laguna! Man you can drive! I thought you were going to win when you took the lead but then you lost control. Darn Skippy is a wild bull!

For someone who claimed to suck at Seca you sure learned quick! Good luck!

Yea I want to but they are both OTM. I will 100% drive the Mustang if it gets NTM. Also the participation hopefully will pick up for it.

Just came 3rd. was 2nd until final corner and lapped car blocked me :( He slowed down at last few corners as I am sure he was letting me pass but at the final corner for some reason he decided just to push on and I was like argh...spun out to avoid a crash. Oh wells, I am still ok with it, was fun :)

Are there any deals out there right now? My 1 month is coming up in a few days, but I don't want to spend $99 for a year. I remember there was one a few weeks ago, is it still valid?

I was going to create a new account but a bunch of old friends whom I haven't raced with in a long time, found me. I was going to do the Nascar+ talladega+ daytona for a year for $75, I just can't seem to make up my mind. My goal is to get Mustang and at least 2 tracks in it's series

no deals right now Roush. Sorry.

3rd Race, was 3rd, a lapped car took out 2nd and me. Fought back to 7th. It was quite funny. lapped car slipped, 2nd slammed into him, both cars had blocked my entry into the cork screw, now you can imagine in my head I was going, ok what can I do? If I run off the track to avoid, I would slide down cork screw and pretty much wreck my car....so I braked hard, and head first....its like TITANIC haha...

I am pretty much done with Laguna. Overall, the week could of gone a lot worse to be honest, I had close shaves all over the place and to come out with the best at 3rd place is good enough for me, overall lost -40 irating this week, could of been easily -300 as all 3 races I should have lost...

REALLY looking forward to Suzuka, favourite track and I had the pleasure of going there a few years back.

On the subject of speed differences, its quite funny at Silverstone driving the HPD, through Copse, Maggots and Becketts you can scream up to a GT, soon as you hit Hangar Straight, no way past, the HPD has not got the legs.

Looks like I got a pretty decent fan base, quite a few people watch me now haha :sly:

LOL, don't feel too flattered there superstar, the majority of the people who post regularly in this thread are either friends or studied. I had surgery last week and can't tolerate racing myself most of the time, although I'm still trying.

Mostly though my 18 month old son loves cars and racing, so he likes sitting with me and watching races on the laptop.

So technically he makes two fans. :)

After a week of being subscribed to iracing i have made it to D class. I need some opinions on some things. First, should i buy the mustang/skip barber or continue racing the rookie series? Second, if i do buy one, which should i buy? Which one is more popular?

It's hard to say which one you *should* buy because it's difficult to know what you enjoy.

If you don't absolutely hate the MX-5, try one of the multiclass series that it's a part of. If you feel you want more power, more speed, and a little more sliding around, get the Mustang. Although, be aware, it's very possible that the tire model on the Mustang will be getting updated in a few weeks which will completely alter the the way the car handles. It's one of only a few cars left that hasn't been migrated over to the new tire model (NTM, a term you will see a lot in iRacing).

The Skip Barber is a great little car, and it's seeing a current popularity surge due to the fact that it's got a "Premiere" series where you can race for prizes. It can difficult to step into from the MX5, as it handles very differently and is easier to lose control of, but once you get the hang of it, you might like it a lot.

Or, if neither the Mustang or the Skip Barber really seem appealing to you, you can always skip over D-class cars altogether by running in the D-class MX-5 multiclass series which can get you to C-Class without having to buy another car.

Wierd. Iracing was tracking my participation last week but now it isn't and says nothing yet I have done the 8 races.

Don't worry about that, people have been talking about it on the forum, the website is having a few problems right now. Also some people are missing iRacing credits from their account. The staff knows about and is working on it.

As far as the mustang participation goes Ive been racing the mustang for a about a month and every race has been offical. I race between 11am eastern till sometimes midnite. I dont think Ive ever seen one not be offical. As for it being on the otm, Im still having a blast learning the car and when it gets the new tire model everyone will be learning a new car so should make for a good first season. Besides the mustang is super fun to race and the races are pretty clean. Also that car is tuff as nails but kinda tricky to get fast in. I finally got into the 1:21s on summit. My problem now is bouncing between the splits. Not fast enough to stay in the top spilt very long. No need to tune it to be competitive either. I have spent a small fortune buying the tracks for it though. :)

One option, that hasn't been mentioned, is to race in the IRN Challenge for a season. I just got my D class and began racing in the IRN this week. Unfortunately I chose the week that was on LRP Chicane (that's a whole other topic). I'm going to race with the MX5 for the rest of this year then perhaps give the SRF a try next season. I've heard that the SRF is a good training tool for open wheelers and that the Solstice is good for learning front engines handling. A real plus is it uses all free content so nothing to buy.

I have a question: If I buy a 1 year membership, i'll have to pay 100 dollars all in one payment or I can pay 8.25 dollars a month?

100 dollars up front, if you are new, remember to check the bonus codes thread that is on here!
