@Tyrgaus, Felt so great when I claimed my first wins in Oval & Road. Happened back-to-back too. So congrats!!!! May you experience many, many more

@superbike, you're doing pretty good yo I noticed your stats this morning when I saw you were online

@Kamuifanboy, that is very, very awesome! Can you tell me your youtube link so I can watch your videos?

edit -nvm, I just remembered you posted some HPD vids awhile back I'll get it that way

The last one I recall watching was the Skip Barber one a long time ago when I first started. Was really cool your times matched up (in iRacing and real life) from what I recall. If you ever do make a post let me know so I can check it out too. 👍

I considered making a thread in the Motor sport forum. But just figured not many people would pay attention to it.

make your own website, if you dont have already one, and keep posting updates there, then link them here with onboard video - just as i do after every race weekend.

On this note, i also may add, that im going to be running the 24h nurburgring race in an SP7 Porsche GT3 997

Did my first NASCAR A-Class race, was much slower than EVERYONE since I was running the fixed setup, but due to the nature of pack racing, I was in 4th under green around lap 45/70. In lap 47 there was an accident I got caught up in, flipped a few times, fun stuff. 12 minutes of optional repairs after 4 minutes required repairs. Ended up finishing 16th :( I wasn't expecting to finish 4th, but the pack I was in was a good 25-30 seconds ahead of the next pack, so I could have finished top 10 easy :(

It was AWESOME though, the cars are so easy to drive, that you don't have to worry about getting loose unless you really suck badly. So you can concentrate on the pack racing. I think I'll be racing this series as often as I can too :)

Sounds you're tight if its that easy to drive. To quote "Days of Thunder"
Cole Trickle: Whoa. Her ass is all over the place.
Harry Hogge: When the rear end's loose, the car's fast. Loose is fast, and on the edge of out of control.
Try letting it loose and see if you get around any quicker. I watch a lot of Nascar and they make it look like they are planted but the truth is, they fight to keep the cars nose going forward more than most people realize.

Yeah, I'm still new to NASCAR and oval racing in general. I figured it was so easy because it was the fixed setup, I'll try to hunt down a competitive setup in the forums since I know nothing at all about setting a car up for oval racing.

Thanks for the advice!

So I have a tough choice, My parents are going to allow me to work at there shop for minimum wage (7.25$), at the end of July I will have gathered a little more then 1 thousand dollars.

What do I do with it? Do I spend it and make a great iracing computer?
I have an hp slimline right now with a 5450, I still get 80fps on medium settings and I have no plans on running triple screens.

Or I can buy gizmos and do-dads
Such as:
DSD seq shifter-150$
Csp v2-250$
Button box- 100$
Some iracing tracks/cars- 200$
Grant gt steering wheel-100$

Save the other 200$ for a new phone when my contract ends in october!

Gizmos. Computers are nice. But unless your looking at triple screens 2. I would pass for gizmos. Or possible just a bigger monitor if I've got a small old one. Feel always comes first to pretty ness

I don't have face book anyways. I would love for someone to print the solder picture

Yes this. But I would change that and buy a 1080p projector like a used BenQ W6000, that way you can have a huge screen that completely fills your field of vision, but doesnt tax your graphics card as hard as tripple screens do. Plus, when you are not racing you can have a girl come over to your "private theatre" ;)

Save or invest the money, do you better in the long term ;)

Do better in the long term? Do you care to quantify the value of hundreds of hours of virtual racing for people who daydream of racing all day long? Also, you'd do better in the long term if you didn't spend any time posting on forums and worked instead. ;)

That is awesome that you will be running the N24. One of my dreams is to race there. Good Luck!

If you look at my signature you will find my website link, but I don't update it like I do the other 3 social media platforms. I wish I could add more onboard video, but I was strictly given directions not to give out the ones from my practice sessions at fuji and the series doesn't allow us to have them during race weekends. So I can't really help you guys out there. Sorry :[

That thousand dollars can go two places
1. Buying a laptop before college
2.Sim racing!

I have 3 months to do nothing, might as well work for 5 or 6 hours a day. I'll obviously save a lot of the money I earn,

So, I think the iRacing Schedule listed the Classic Boot variant of Watkins Glenfor the new GT Challenge series. Glad I entered a practice rather than a quali or race, because I blew right through the bus stop at 160mph the first time. Its really just "The Boot". That complicates things...exiting the bus stop is rough in the Ford GT.

Anyone have some setup tips to help it handle the right and left immediately after the bus stop? I'm about a second and a half off where I'd like to be and those two turns feel like its wanting to push badly. Gonna try a little less wing angle and maybe rake the car more.

I wish I could give you setup advice, but I just use the fixed setup normally. I tried a shared setup in the first GT race and it was a disaster since I was so accustomed to the fixed. Even after running almost 100 laps between test, practice, and the race, I still ran a faster time 1:21's, with the fixed.

For me, that section isn't too bad, but I can understand if the car was setup a little looser than fixed it could get very hairy. All I can recommend is to be very delicate with how you come on and off the throttle as to not upset the weight balance.

Split it. $500 for a decent laptop (or a really good netbook) and $500 for sim racing gear.

Don't yell at me but I'm probably going to get a mac. I hate macs but damn they are so easy to use and a lot more sleeker then any other pc laptop I've owned.

Well, there goes your $1000. Haha!

I've got no problems with Macbooks. Also you will fit in very well in college, where it seems everyone runs Macs.

What is the bus stop? the chicane?

Also, far down the road, I'm thinking about getting a new driving equipment and new wheel to start with. Is the T500RS really worth the $600 (I shop Retail most of the time)? ultimately I have been looking at the DSD website lately (and it really makes me want one of those shifters) and the majority of what I see supports the T500RS the most among others. I've heard brief complaints every now and then about something going wrong with the pedals. any thoughts and how well it works with iracing?

Well, I'll put it this way, if I had a set budget and wanted to get everything at once, I would go "lower-end" and get a full setup.

So instead of $600 for the T500RS I would do something like this:

$199 - Fanatec CSR Wheel
$150 - Fanatec CSR-Elite Pedals
$80 - Derek Speare Econo-Sport Sequential Shifter
$150 - Thrustmaster TH8RS shifter

Now of course you would only be able to use all of these things at the same time in PC games, but you could still use the wheel and pedals on PS3.

The T500RS does have more powerful force feedback, and a better wheel rim (IMO at least) but then you are left with standard pedals (no load cell).

Of course the stuff I mentioned isn't the only way to do it, there are many combinations you could do for about $600.

Sorry to interrupt.... but talk of NTM coming to V8 mid season!

"Just ran the @iRacing @v8supercars on the NTM and it's sick. Thanks @shanevg9 and excited for your final feedback so we can release it"

"Also want to thank @smclaughlin93 for his help with @shanevg9 on developing the NTM on the @iRacing V8. Goal is to release before S3"

Tweeted by Steve Myers

Can't wait, been a long time coming and sounds like it won't disappoint from what i've heard from Scott McLaughlin. 👍

Just saw that, but I don't know if they mean mid-season.

I don't recall them ever putting the NTM on a car in the middle of a season, but anything's possible.

I was just expecting week 13 as they normally do.

Great news either way though!

Well talking to SVG and Scotty they both are reckon the iRacing staff are saying 1-2 weeks and it'll be updated. So maybe exaggerate that a bit and it'd be 3-6 weeks with a few problems etc that they encounter. I really hope it's within the next 2 weeks or so, i'd love for that to be the case. Only issue apparently is that the tyres don't degrade as much as they do on the OTM (common issue with NTM though).
