If I get my oval Class D license up to 4.00 SR will I be able to race the IndyCar oval fixed series?

Yes and if you don't have any D content afaik you can fast track to C by racing in that license level

Another common problem with rookies is that they do not understand race strategy. Often if they are a 1+ laps down or about to be lapped they will still fight for positions at the same time ignoring or not understanding the meaning of the Blue Flag on the screen! LOL This is dangerous for both pilots. When I have found myself in this situation I will go on voicecomms and quickly and POLITELY explain the situation ("hey, I'm a lap ahead of you, no need for us to fight for position"). More often than not the other pilot will allow me to pass safely.

FWIW...Do you know of the F3 feature during the race? it will show you relative positions of cars around you - blue cars are lapped by you, red cars are laps ahead of you, white cars are on the same lap as you.

I am sure some other GTP/iRacing vets will be along to give you some more options!
good luck!
:)

It isn't just rookies that do not understand the rules, quite often even higher level license driver don't understand them. For example a Blue flag does NOT mean you have to move over or out of the way of a faster driver.

iRacing Rule 6.5.
Blue Flag (blue with diagonal yellow stripe) – Indicates faster cars are approaching. This flag is informational only. In all cases, it is the responsibility of the faster car to safely overtake the slower car. It is the responsibility of the slower car to maintain a consistent line. It is strongly recommended that a slower car being lapped makes every reasonable effort to facilitate a safe pass

Well another Monaco GP has come and gone. Each year I hope to get some information like someone got spied laser scanning the track in between sessions. oh well, maybe next year. this track DESERVES to be laser scanned

I do agree with you on this, this would be an amazing addition. However though, I can imagine a track like Monaco being a SR killer!

There is no room for error, and a spin up front would easily take the whole field out. Add to the fact there is no run off areas. Racers would be bouncing off the Armco racking up the contact incidents (x2).

i am so proud of myself! already my 6th win in 21 races and my SR got up to 3.45 Class D i'm coming!

Safety ratings be damned man! The real life safety rating is low at any track, but especially street circuits. Has anyone heard if they are planning any street circuits in iracing. Me thinks me heard Long Beach?...

Hello Guys, i promoted to Class D and bought the VW Jetta Content and Ford Mustang Content with the Oulton Park Track i am heading towards the Mustang because i like that car but what should i do next when classed to Class C ?

i really like the new tyre model on the mustang! With a too heavy right food you are going to be sideways out of every corner :D

What? When did this happen?

Just took it for a drive. The NTM sure has a way of being impossible to catch once you start a slide...

Read the 2FMSH (2 Foot Magic Save Hax) thread.

Basically iRacing has an exploit in which you can save pretty much any slide just by mashing the gas and brake together.

It does have limited functionality in real life racing, mostly at lower speeds though, but you can take advantage of it in iRacing and use it in pretty much any car at any speed. I've been using for a long time, it's unrealistic (I know this from my days of real life racing open wheelers in my teenage years) but it works well in iRacing.

Did a few hours in the Mustang last night. Gotta say I really enjoy it along with the V8 NTM. Both cars can be still be slid about, but needs some discipline when doing so. A little too much under/oversteer here and there will have have your front/rear tires burning up. After some more refinements and tweaks these two cars will be even better. Already find myself only driving the Mustang and V8 right now.👍

Interesting. Thanks for sharing. I'll have to try this out in the Cadi, which I spin a lot more often than I would like.

It's true, I just tested this with the Caddy at summit Point.

Hey guys, how do I earn the participation for the iRacing Credits where you can get like $10/season?
I'm currently D level with around a 2.5 SR. What races should I participate in?

How long is that promotion going on for again?

As long as you do a full official season you'll get your credits! For promotion you need to meet your MPR and get up to 4.00 SR to be automatically promoted or meet the MPR and be above 3.00 SR at the end of the season.
My advice is to run the Grand Touring Cup in the MX5 and get your SR to 4.00, that way you'll minimize your expenses and fast track it to C class!

But I have to buy stuff for the GT Cup. :D
Think I might go for that 100 for 75 deal though.
Is the GT Cup any cleaner than the iRN Challenge? Because I have yet to gain positive SR in an iRN race.

Think I might host a Firestone 550 IndyCar race at Texas Motor Speedway next weekend and advertise it with a nice looking thread on the iRacing Dallara forum. Reckon a 2 hour session would be good for a qualifier, short warm up and 228 laps?
