Would somebody care to send me a setup for the V8SC at Phillip Island? I want to go tool around with the car/track combo, even if I probably won't be running in it. There doesn't seem to be any setup sharing in the V8 forum.
Yeah sure. I'll upload my current V8 Setups for Phillip Island. I have the one I made which is really stable but doesn't quite have the pace and tyre conservation, and i'll upload another one which we went a different direction with that should be highly competitive in the World Tour event.
Anyway, due to the very competitive races we have in the official series and all the hard work done by my teammates, I can't share it publicly but I can share it via PM if you wish.
A few tips to set up the car anyway.... We've found that high rake (Front to rear ride height difference) gets you better turn in but also better straight line speed. Clearly this isn't realistic aero wise... but it works.
Tyres.... Struggled a lot so far but it seems that really low cambers work better. So looking at about 1.5-3.0 on the front and about 1-2 on the back. That seems to look after tyres better believe it or not. Tyre pressures for a qualy lap are about 152-155 front and 145-148 rear (kpa).
Generally the front has been significantly stiffer than the back both in springs and shocks to give the front end good responsiveness and mid corner grip to make greater lap speed. The back is set up quite a bit softer to get the mid-exit corner traction.
FAQ - Handling issues
I have too much oversteer
You can stiffen front springs, soften rear springs, decrease rake or lower the watts linkage at the back
I have too much understeer
Opposite to above. Plus lower front roll centre.
Anyway, enough from me. PM me if you want the setups. I posted some quick setup tips incase it doesn't feel quite right for you and what you can change etc.
