ooo yea....2nd week in Star Mazda, 1 second away from Suzuka World Record.

What an awesome car. No regrets in not touching the Skip ever again.

Wish me luck guys, I really want to be no.1 but its still early, maybe I should push faster next season instead. I haven't even used iSpeed but I think I will need to if I want to beat the WR time.

1 second may as well be an eternity. Also, the WR is probably set with a draft.

OMG jav that was insane. geeeezzzz what are they doing over their in that series.
It's always like that with the LMPs, you got 20 guys who have no business driving that car trying to race in them them!

Luck isn't needed if you have skill, pretty sure you told me that yourself.. ;) Good luck though 👍

I've heard plenty of guys say the Star Mazda is a bit faster than last season as well.
Good luck Swift there are lots of fast guys to get through to get to the top of the Star Mazda pile

I've been driving it a little bit in practices. It is a blast. Pretty good chance I'll start racing it next season. I thought I wanted to get more Skippy experience to be more comfortable driving open-wheel cars, but there's absolutely nothing alike.

Yeah I've done a few races this season, the SM is a fun car to drive. I'm mainly just trying to get a bit of experience in the car too, ready for a more serious attempt next season. I've had a couple of good results already so here's hoping for a good run next season.

Hey guys, does anyone use Paypal? I have been trying to link my bank account to my Paypal and after a few days of having to delete my bank account and re-add it I finally get verified. Now when I try to add money to my account it gets limited. can anyone help me?

Would somebody care to send me a setup for the V8SC at Phillip Island? I want to go tool around with the car/track combo, even if I probably won't be running in it. There doesn't seem to be any setup sharing in the V8 forum.

Eric.

This is a general thing for me. Lower tyre pressure and ARB for a more stable car, opposite induces opposite effects.

I just drove the car, I'm not sure that I would benefit from any tweaks. Really liking it though.

So the SCCA has created an iRacing league. I just ran the final Warmup race before the Runoffs. Jettas for 13 laps at Road America. First off, I have driven the Jetta twice prior to tonight. First was on the OTM, next on the NTM. And only for a few minutes. I drove it for half an hour before the race, then the half hour practice and 15 minute quali.

Really? That's awesome! Any requirements to join?

I would suggest getting away from the Skippy as fast as possible. It doesn't handle anything like real life and it teaches you absolutely nothing about upper level cars at all.

Yeah.

They're having championship seasons for each club, and I guess the overall winner will be awarded with being sent to the SCCA accredited driving school of their choice.

Yeah sure. I'll upload my current V8 Setups for Phillip Island. I have the one I made which is really stable but doesn't quite have the pace and tyre conservation, and i'll upload another one which we went a different direction with that should be highly competitive in the World Tour event.

Anyway, due to the very competitive races we have in the official series and all the hard work done by my teammates, I can't share it publicly but I can share it via PM if you wish.

A few tips to set up the car anyway.... We've found that high rake (Front to rear ride height difference) gets you better turn in but also better straight line speed. Clearly this isn't realistic aero wise... but it works.

Tyres.... Struggled a lot so far but it seems that really low cambers work better. So looking at about 1.5-3.0 on the front and about 1-2 on the back. That seems to look after tyres better believe it or not. Tyre pressures for a qualy lap are about 152-155 front and 145-148 rear (kpa).

Generally the front has been significantly stiffer than the back both in springs and shocks to give the front end good responsiveness and mid corner grip to make greater lap speed. The back is set up quite a bit softer to get the mid-exit corner traction.

FAQ - Handling issues
I have too much oversteer
You can stiffen front springs, soften rear springs, decrease rake or lower the watts linkage at the back

I have too much understeer
Opposite to above. Plus lower front roll centre.

Anyway, enough from me. PM me if you want the setups. I posted some quick setup tips incase it doesn't feel quite right for you and what you can change etc.

md94r thank you very much for the post. saddly dont own the v8 super car yet or Philip island, cant wait for bathhurst though!

Interesting. Will check it out.

Thanks Madison. I don't expect to run the race, but I might prepare for it in the event I don't secure a pit stall in our league race or I get crashed out. A little bit over my head, but I survived half of the Belgian GP with little F1 experience, too.

Jav, the 64-bit upgrade won't directly do anything for graphics. It will simply allow more complex features in the future. They said when we get the 64-bit version we probably won't see any major differences initially.

Indeed, that is a very good point, perhaps that is my 1 sec?

Now after a few seasons I have a new quote.

"There will always be idiots" ;)

Yea I know. I am taking what I have learnt in general, don't push a PB on every lap, finishing the race is a reward. In doing so, in high SOF, first mazda race and without doing much racing at all I got 6th and even +irating. So thats what I plan to do. Most importantly this season, since I am late to the show is all about getting some experience.

NOOOoooo, your going to kick my butt :(
