I switched over to the HPD this week from the Corvette and I'm pretty sure I'm staying here. It was so nice to be able to run in a field of 15+ cars instead of 4 cars and having to worry about dodging HPD backmarkers who don't know how to pass correctly for the entire race.

I'd happily race one of the GT cars in a league, but not official races, not anymore, it's just pointless. Hopefully the GT Challenge series sticks around and picks up the McLaren, then I'll go back to it.

I run the Proto/GT series. Unfortunately my schedule has only allowed me to enter one or two races per week this whole season. I was running the C6R, but as I said above I've switched to the HPD. It's so much less stressful and more fun driving the HPD in my opinion.

Proto/GT Vette driver here for the past year.

Oh, and the Lotus 49 is set to go on pre-order this week!

Yep HPD driver here as well. I just run the fixed series. Been running the HPD for a couple seasons now. It's really the only road car I race now.

Meh not a fan of the oldies. Just can't get into it.

Same here, I might buy it and run it a bit but I don't see myself getting too much into it. I'm more of a GT guy and with the McLaren coming out I can see myself going for that car if it actually handles good enough and not as twitchy and nervous as the Ford GT.

That Mclaren is VERY tempting! ;)

I couldn't care less for the Lotus 49, seems like a fun car to test out.. But that's it. Think they should focus on the BTCC and the SuperGT Honda's I'm just so tierd of the Americanized feel of iRacing already, but sitting on the fence until BTCC and SuperGT hits the sim.
So for me the lotus is.... Stop wasting my time already!! ;)

And get a DTM licence when your at it!

100% agreed! iRacing really needs to stop listening to the Oval/muscle car crowd and start getting more international cars in like the ones you mentioned as well as BMW/Ferrari/Lamborgini and even the current Lotus GT-E car!

On the GT side of thinks it's pretty even as far as tracks go. Far more American cars however at this point. That should change in the future I suppose.

Been away from iracing for a few months. Downloaded pcars the other day and it just made me want to get back into iracing, so today I did the 2 year for the price of one deal. Looks like I'm back in for awhile.

I think this time I might go oval starting out. I've wanted to give it a decent try for awhile, but I just get sucked right back into road racing every time. If I could get out of the rookie oval class I think I would enjoy it alot more.

Anyone got any tips for getting out of rookie oval as fast as possible?

Start from pits, try to drive clean and avoid the knuckleheads.

I bet that's easier said then done :)
I've raced a few in the past, but I don't think I've ever finished one. I let a friend run about an hour of practice laps one night, that hasn't played racing games since GT2 and he was in 3rd drafting 2nd and 1st the whole race. He made it until about 2 laps left and the 2nd place guy couldn't take it anymore and made a move on 1st. None of them finished the race. After that I kind of gave up, but when you actually running right with people it's way more intense then the road racing. It's just so crazy though you never know whats going to happen with a few laps left, or even the 1st lap. More often then not I don't think I made it through the first lap. I've even had a few where people crashed on the pace lap :grumpy:

Left, I saw in a different thread that you have the Bodin Load Cell? How do you like it?

Thanks!

^ Wow, sexy.

I guess I read the post wrong, but thought you said you had them. I was a bit confused as I didn't think he fully went to market yet. I'm not sure if I want to be a guinea pig on the first run of load cells, but if the timing is right and I've got the cash maybe I'll give them a shot.

Thanks!

Yikes, just some loud music and words that are not native to me. :D

There is a link saying English on the right top corner. I can't read German either man. And the load music.. You should have a volume control somewhere ;)

It's worth a look, I promise ;)

It didn't turn out as good as I wanted but I will be applying a second coat tomorrow.

Wow...So I've talked about our league seeming to make up rules and interpretations on the spot. There always seems to be issues with people passing before the stripe on restarts, and now it seems someone has tried bringing attention to such a condition on a double file start.

If you are gridded on the "outside" heading into Turn 1 (aka you were the slower of the 2 qualifiers in that row) then no, you can not put the nose of your car in front of the car next to you before the stripe.

Again, mind you that even with 4 marshals, we only usually have 1 guy dedicated to watching the starts/restarts....so we're all still on the honor system to an extent because inches here or there are going to be REALLY HARD to tell. It's the guys who are half a car length or more that are going to get the obvious penalty.

So we've basically just changed the rule to mean that on a course with a Turn 1 going to the left, the outside row cannot be going faster than the inside row at any point before the start line to gain positions on the other row. That has never been a rule anywhere ever. There's too many ways to exploit that, and you simply cannot ask a driver to be paying attention to the speed of the other row while charging up to race speed on a race start.

DTM stands for "Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters" which is "German Touringcar Masters" in English. It does exist since 2000.

From 1984 to 1995 there has been a DTM "Deutsche Tourenwagen Meisterschaft" (German Touringcar Championship) followed by the "ITC" (FIA International Touringcar Championship) in 1996 before this series died by the end of the year.

They kept the "DTM" abreviation to let folks think, it is the same Championship as in the old days. But it isn't.

For me as an "old fashioned guy", the old DTM is the one and only DTM :sly:

@Left888: In "Race '07" you can find a WTCC '87 BMW M3. This car has also been used in the "old" DTM. In the "TOCA Race Driver" series you can find cars like The Audi TT-R, which has been used in the "new" DTM. Just to give you an idea, what this series is/was about.

Nice, though I am in agreement with others here that I am not a fan of the Lotus 49. I have not decided if I will buy the Lotus49. If I do buy it will be to support iRacing as I don't see myself using it that often.
