Does nobody like racing Grand-Am on Mid-Ohio? I tried to join a race today and it was unofficial, practice sessions are usually not very full and most races don't seem to get a lot of people.. Shame its such a great track.

Its weird thats the one series i was sure there would be tons of people on, but it just isnt. I really hope as i progress in this game the attendance goes up on these type races. What are some good upper level series that are always packed?

It looks like you really need to race on the weekends, usually mid-day US time for full Grand Am fields.

I tried twice to enter a race, first one we had 6 and the second one we had 5, we went a head anyways and I won. :) Sure hope we get at least 1 official race this week. Last season the Grand AM was solid, don't know what happened this season?

Did you make a SLI profile to iRacing64.exe ?
I could be wrong but isn't that just for nVidia 3D?

I made a profile and it didn't help any, so I went in and turned everything to minimum graphics and it ran much, much smoother. Still not perfect but alot better. I started turning things up and it stayed pretty decent. I just don't understand how i can be getting over 300 FPS and still get stuttering without any FPS drop at all. I don't run it that high because of tearing with no Vsync, but that's what it was running on bristol without it. I was getting around 180 on Limerock in the skippy with no Vsync, and still stuttering with or without Vsync turned on.

It's weird how this game ran perfect when I first started playing it. I could run it with out running Vsync and everything maxed out even high detail in mirrors and I wouldn't get a bit of tearing.

Bevo, do have any FPS limit set? Possible that you aren't seeing real stutters but changes from 300+fps suddenly dropping to a dreadful 100 something?

If I use any kind of FPS set I have tearing really bad. I was just running no limit to see how well the cards were working. Then I would try vsync and the tearing will stop but the stutters stay. Even if I just set a limit at 60 I get tearing. I've tried 60, 84, 120 and everything in between. I pretty much have to run Vsync unless it's just to benchmark for reference later on.

I'm tempted to sell my 570s and get one 4gb 670. I would like to wait though until the next generation of cards come out. i haven't heard anything at all about the next line. I'm wondering if it will be like just about every other year and we will see the 700s at the end of this year? If that's the case I will just wait, but if it will be in the next few months I would like to wait on the newer cards.

Nope, it's to make the second card a bit more than a placeholder and a spot to put the cable to the third monitor ;)

Doesn't help much on iRacing for me, but I saw some improvment for sure.

Of course if you want to run it in 3D you would need the extra power two cards get from working together. So your in some way right about it, but you don't have to run it in 3D to actually use both cards ;)

A lot of people don't like mid-ohio. It's one of the least raced tracks on schedules I think (don't quote me there). It's just another one of those tracks that are tough to tame but once you do it's not bad, so a lot of people just don't bother with that track..... I was one of those people and used to be that way with it.

I actually think it's on a lot of schedules. More than most tracks. And rightfully so, it is a blast to drive.

I don't know how much longer I can wait for the Mclaren. That might get be back into iRacing because it sounds like I may be running a GT3 spec car in real life next year. I'd love to get the practice. Hurry Up iRacing!

The 20th this month is thetarget date, no pre-orders though! <==== I mean December...

Look at my ninjaedit**!
Crossing my fingers for you dude!! You have to promiseto keep us updated!!

People seem to bescared of quick elevation ganges in iRacing...

Proto/GT is the one! if you manage to survive the stupid HPD drivers...

What I meant was participation wise, I've very rarely gotten big fields there, and there was some chart in the forum about participation at all the tracks awhile ago, I have no idea where it is now but mid ohio is always just about mid season and it always dies off right about mid season so not many people show for it but Watkins glen would always have a big spike

That's because you do NOT want to have a framerate cap set on a multiple to your monitor's refresh rate.

I agree on this, but the general thinking of this isn't necessarily true either. I seen posts over at iRacing saying less than 90FPS is unplayable. Witch is a totally lie, if I put mine to 90 witch it easily can handle I get stutters and it becomes unplayable. I lowered mine to 63 where I found it stuttered minimum and the tearing is something I can live with.

I can get it stutter free, but then the screen tear like crazy. And I can get it tearing free, but then the stutter comes back. So the thing is to tweak it until the guy behind the screen are happy. And don't expect it to be perfect with tripple screen out of the box. If it's perfect at first try, go play the lottery! because you're a lucky guy!

But this is a question about monitors, and some use tv's, I think TV with full HD is better because of the progressive way of changing pictures (1080p) makes it smoother. But I haven't tested TV vs Monitors like that so I'm not sure.

But I don't think the thing we talk about is bevo's problem, as tweaking graphics settings can only do so much.

So my question to bevo would be: Should you try to let iRacing try to reconfigure your hardware?

If you changed something on your computer this always is a good way to go, but remember your settings.. I made a screenshot of my settings as bezel correction isn't fun to do more than once if your happy with the correction already done ;)

Those weren't the only ones i tried. I tried all kinds of different ones. I have no idea what the problem could be. It seems like i hear more about Nvidia cards having the stutter issue, but maybe that's because I have Nvidia so I just pay more attention to it. Maybe it's just SLI, but I never had these problems before I got back into iracing. I took a break from about march until a month ago. Before stuttering wasn't an issue at all. When I first started iracing tearing wasn't an issue but one of the updates to iracing starting causing that so I started using Vsync. Tearing is the one thing i can't stand. I would rather have a little stutter then any tearing. That's what made me stop playing GT5. I couldn't get over how bad the screen tearing was in that game.

Anyway I guess I'll just find a graphics setting I can deal with that limits the stutters but still looks decent. I'll keep going back and trying different drivers some too, but that gets old pretty quick, and some of the older drivers are just weird with triple screen. I remember the 260s worked really well but they suck with triples for anything but iracing.

Mid-Ohio is one of my favourite tracks on the Grand Am Schedule, it reminds me a little of Barber with a lot of crests, uphill braking zones and downhill braking zones. It will catch you out if you lose concentration for the slightest second, and also you have to be clever with your throttle control in the crests otherwise you'll be spinning and in the wall before you know it.

Also I run some race setup test laps 4 days ago just before the week started and I felt very confident around the track, the other day I was on with Erik and I was trying to see how fast I could enter certain corners and how early I could power out of them, lets just say, quite often it didn't end well :)

I use SLI with two GTX260s, single 1920x1200 monitor (2nd monitor not using in iRacing). Pretty much max settings, framerate cap at like 150fps I think. Stays there most of the time.

Hmmm... Surprised it hasn't been posted yet!

Yeah I just had my first race there tonight and I have to say its pretty fun. I actually found it easy to get into a rhythm over a race distance, once you've got the main areas to watch out for its relatively easy to roll the car into the corners and balance it (at least with the Star Mazda anyway).
Its just making sure not to brake too late or too hard or jump on the throttle.

Its difficult to overtake though, you have to get really really good runs onto the straights after turn 1 and turn 2 to even have a chance. Otherwise you're just waiting for a mistake from the other guy.

Zolder last week was awesome fun too.

Awesome. Thanks for posting this.

I recently watched some videos of Rfactor 2's beta at some tracks that iRacing has. I initial impression was that iRacing's had much better atmosphere thanks to the real track surroundings being replicated. The pavement alos had a more realistic look to it because it varied in colour much more, and they can actually see changes in colour in their scans so I imagine the colour changes for new sections of pavement and whatnot are in the correct spot.

Long story short, iRacing does a great job on their tracks.

I'm not excited for Interlagos. I can already tell the first sector is going to take out half the field. One person crashes or makes a mistake, and there's nowhere to go thanks to the walls being so close.

I remember racing there years ago on some F1 game and it was always a nightmare honestly if you were in any traffic.

Hi guys, I just bought the Indycar today, and it's a blast! I can't wait until next week to race at Texas!

I have a question though; How does it compare to the HPD? Is it kinda alike with how you drive it? Of course it will be different, but are they somewhat comparable?

You're going to love Bathurst then ;) The mountain on the first lap is going to be fun

Bathurst is like the Nordschleife to me. Great track to drive, great track to race on in real life. When it comes to sim racing, there's always those guys who don't understand "what not to do," and ruins things for everyone.
