T-minus 1 hour until the McLaren is released. Already go the OK from my mother to get 3 items for the discount (I think it still exists). I was definitely going to get Zolder. So that leaves me with 1 item left to purchase. I have narrowed it down to these items because I have everything else on the road course side of things. Still not really interested in Oval on iRacing yet.

Out of those I'd get either Brands Hatch or Oran Park. I like Brands better but since Oran is newer it will likely be used more often.

The McLaren is everything I hoped for and more. It's challenging for me but not so challenging that it's frustrating for someone with mediocre sim racing skills like me.

First thoughts:

- Sounds great! Sounds even better when you add in Massimiliano Biekar's sound plugin.
- It's by far the most beautiful car in iRacing. Going side by side with someone I found myself staring at their car instead of at the road.
- Never driven the real thing but seems to handle very realistically and predictably.
- I'm about 3.5 seconds off the fast pace as usual, but I'm hoping with some more practice (since I'll be dedicating myself more to this car in S1 2013) I can close that gap down to 2.5 seconds or so.

iRacing has assured that they will have me as a member for at least a couple more years. I absolutely love this car. It's not the "new car smell" thing either, I genuinely love just about everything about this car. I might even start learning to do setups for once.

10 Lap @ Daytona in the McLaren. I'm 3 seconds slower that the leaders, but wow. Went back in the CR6 for a few laps.
Needless to say I won't be driving that much longer

I said I was not buying new content until they fixed the tire physics, but couldnt resist sense they said it has a new steering and tire model. If this is what we can expect all the cars in the service to be like Ill be around for a loooooong while still. The car actually has lateral grip. Im hoping alot of cars recieve this in the next update.

Any ideas or suggestions? I was thinking of getting one of those wireless internet Usb thingies. Does anyone know if they are any cheap or have any suggestions for a temporary solution?

Well so far it seems like really good racing in the fun series. Of course we weed out about 1/2 of a 40+ car field in the first lap and a half, but after that it's pretty smooth sailing. Myself and a guy named Bernd were within 1.5 seconds of each other constantly making tiny mistakes and trading positions for 15 of the 20 laps. I made the last mistake, so he got me, but it was a great race.

Oh, and I *LOVE* the McLaren.

Jav: I wouldn't mess with the wireless modems, not unless you are just going to be doing test sessions. It's only a week away, I think you can hold out But once you do get back online, you are in for a real treat with the McLaren, it's wonderful.

It really adds so much to the immersion even though it's very simple. He is working to add more features to it and should be releasing a new version soon. It makes the McLaren sound even better!

That sucks pretty bad, that's pretty much what happened to me in august and I just went to the library to get stuff done (obviously not to race) but I've never used one of those USB adapters, goodluck

Do you have a smart phone or iPad or something that you could setup as a wifi hotspot? I tested my wife's iPad on our 3G network(we don't even have 4g here) and he was able to play games online on his 360 over 3G using the iPad as the hotspot.

Well I have my iPhone, but I've never used it as a wifi source... Problem is that reception in the house is horrible so I have to use the signal booster Sprint provided, bigger problem is that thing is internet dependent.
So, how's the McLaren stacking up against the Ford in lap times?

Jav, they have a new section in the forum, you might want to check that out, GT gridding (in order) goes vette, GT, 12C, and it looks like the GT participation will start to dwindle down

The 12C has better acceleration out of the corner, so they get you there but the GT's are probably 20 mph faster on Daytona's straights. it'll be difficult to balance the times with weight because so much depends on driver ability and how much is gained/lost on straights vs turns

Anybody running Legends @ Lime Rock this week, I have only seen 1 person beat my lap time (1:00.419) so far in 2 practice sessions, but something tells me that that's going to change on friday, this may be the one time I do a road race with no clutch aids, The legend is real easy to manage the clutch compared to the mustang.

Edit 2, ran a 59.7, then another guy ran a 58.5 and blew us all out of the water

Just be prepared to have to drive through a field of McLarens if you run the GT Challenge. I have a feeling it's going to be a very popular car in the series, especially for these last four weeks of the season.
