Do any of you guys have an suggestion on a really good monitor (~ 24") for pc/sim racing? Right now I just use a 42" Vizio LCD, but I do think there is a good deal of input lag with this TV, which is bit more noticeable when driving the quicker cars in iRacing.

Anyway, do any of you have any suggestions for something in the $250-$350 price range?

Gotten down to 1:08.7's

How much does a BENQ XL2410T cost where you live? Just from going from SEK to USD it should fit the price point.

I have three of them and they are 120Hz screens, once you go 120Hz you will never look back.

If it´s to expensive then try and find a 120Hz screen, you won´t regret it.

24inch is enough imo, i use it and it works perfectly. But you always want to go bigger but it´s definitely a very good size. As the months pass you can always buy 2 more to get the full experience.

shhiny48: Basic HDF sucks big time :P

I tried it, felt "ok" then got some other setups and it changed the car completely.

Give me a minute and i´ll bunch them together, i even got Jacob Nielsen´s who did a 07.750 today so there is speed in them,
They all feel slightly different and do some part better then the others so pick one that gives you the most confidence.

P.S. Jacob Nielsen´s was given to me only so don´t give it out to anyone, i´ll share it with you guys because you seem like an awsome bunch of dudes. :P

Yea the track is crazy, in one session i could do solid 8´s then in the next one i struggled to get below 10´s...

The car demands so much concentration, but i love it because i get so much back from it when i get it just right ;)

Hey guys,

had a race at Okayama today and it turned out to be super intense and crazy. I uploaded the highlights of the race + commentary

Well that is the reason why you should get out of Rookie class as fast as possible :)

the one where you understeered and hit one guy, you would have hit him even if he would have taken the corner properly due to the understeer.

But i agree, lots of idiots there, wtf was that guy thinking in the end doing a u-turn in the worst possible place on the track? ;)

Btw, are you the guy who reported from some exhibition before GT5 was released? Thought i recognised your voice but could be mistaken,

yea i know, im currently at Class D 2.37. Was up at 2.97 but dropped to idiots crashing everywhere...

Ya i know, that incident was inevitable.

I think youre talking about this Andreas Nie, who did the exhibition interview for inside simracing.

By the way, how can you replay a race without the user interface? I've seen videos without the HUD but cant seem to figure out how to turn it off

Anyone know of a link to any site that lists the best PC requirements to run this game?

I'm looking for the best set up 2. The Info I got so far is 3x 120Hz screens, i just need the best PC gear now, graphic card i hear is probably the most important as most new pc's have all you need in processor power. I not up with all the latest computer terms, so simply put what i need to take to a sales person whould be handy. On Iracing, starting from scratch, how long whould it take a reasonable skilled driver to get to C class so I can race the v8 supercar series. Thanks in advance hope to race ya soon on what looks to be the best online racing game with a bright future in Iracing 2.0

I don't have a PC yet. Looking for recommendations pretty much.
Ok, here's the one I got. Was recomended by one of the guys running iRacing here:

So here's a different re-certified rig from Newegg (which you should really look to instead): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16883147680

It's a quad core with 64 bit Windows 7 Premium and everything else is up to par, spec wise, except for the non-existent video card. It only doesn't come with a monitor but you should be able to hook up your current GT5 monitor to it if you buy a good video card.

So if you get that system all you'll be missing is a good video card which is a must for running a good frame rate with any game or sim.

So this is the one I super highly recommend since it's not that expensive, has wide support, the best outputs (HDMI, two DVIs, and a DP) and is easily upgradable:

Basic Setup. ;)

How are you typing here then? :odd:

Prob at work like me working hard as usual. My home pc 10 years old and looking at up grade, may as well get the best i can like i did 10 years ago, it lasted ok so far but haven't been gaming on it.

👍

Yeah, only computer at home is a netbook.

Im using my 3 year old Acer 5920G with a blasted 4 GB ram and an external 24inch Full HD monitor

Runs smooth at 50fps

I plan on using my TV for the monitor, so that is covered. Only plan on purchasing the tower spec'd out to whatever it needs to be. I don't have any experience building PC's, so if I can buy one with reasonable specs and a reasonable price to go along with it, that would be great.

I thought there was a problem with lag between computer and TV, which is a problem with response times when trying to control your Iracing cars especially the faster ones?

I don't sense any lag at all.

What I'm gonna post here is probably the cheapest and best route to go for someone that already has a monitor to get up and running quickly. It's a basic Lenovo computer with everything you need to run iRacing well and be solid. Best part is that it comes with a copy of 64-bit windows installed so I challenge anyone to make a cheaper build with the same specs:

The review that gives you the best and cheapest recommendation for a quick upgrade to get you up to speed.

I am thrilled with my new machine. The price is unbelievable. I'm pessimistic by nature so I keep waiting for something to break. Here are the parts that I ordered with this PC. 1) Higher wattage power supply. I bought a 400 Watt. The power supply with it is only 280 watts. This is barely enough to power the stock components, let alone any upgrades. 2) GEforce gt220 1GB DDR3 ram. This is a $60 GPU and makes all of the difference in the world vs the integrated card that comes stock. 3) 2GB DDR3 DIMM ram. Windows 7 uses a lot of ram. The machine comes with 2GB and 1 open slot. I bought the ram for like $25. I have been playing Mass Effect 3, Dragon Age, Oblivion, and other graphic intensive games with no problem at all. If you need a cheap, good machine get this Lenovo + GPU + Power supply + 2GB Ram Stick. I spent a total of around $450 for it all.

The drawback with the Lenovo is that it has a small 280 watt power supply. And those 280 watts are only enough to run the basic computer components that came with the computer stock. You'll need to buy a bigger power supply (at least 400 watts) to give you more "room" to install a better video card and other components. It's all super easy to install. You'll just need a little screwdriver and if you need any help at all with installation I can make it even easier by taking you through it step by step.

I use a 40 inch Samsung LED tv and with the input set to "PC mode" I get perfect response.

Thanks for the suggestion 👍 I did a bit of researching myself and it does seem like the BenQ is an excellent gaming monitor. Fortunately my local Fry's has a couple in stock for $399, so I might try and head down there tonight to pick one up :)

Thanks Wardez, i heard some where TV caused lag but may be the TV. I got 50" Panasonic plasma not sure if it has PC input though, but sound like worth checking it out.

I'm on the same boat man! Putting my first(just got it on monday) pc together dedicated to iRacing and rFactor. I'm learning as I go, plus Wardez has been very helpful in the process so I got to thank him once more!

But i agree, lots of idiots there, wtf was that guy thinking in the end doing a u-turn in the worst possible place on the track? ;)

It's obvious that he was in a low-split race.

Rookie class races aren't just filled with Rookies. I've been running in the Rookie series non-stop since I've joined and find it super fun. I also run in the Skippy and had a fling with some C-class series as well.

But, like I was saying, the Rookie class high-split races have lots of high license level, even a lot of pros, racing.

The other day I was in a hosted session with Bryan "CudaMan" Heitkotter (GT Academy finals winner) and Richard Towler (iRacing Nascar inaugural champion and runner up to Greger Huttu in the first Road championship). And we ran MX-5's at Sebring's Club configuration "all night" :)
They were dipping into the 1:15s and I could barely make a low 1:17.

A very humbling experience. But to make the point that everyone loves running the lower spec cars.

Thanks Wardez, I'll look into that when I get back from tossing GT-R's around. ;)

Dude hopefully you win and can't iRace until you have time to use it as a track learning tool as a real driver 👍
