I'm so jealous of you guys. I finally have a wheel long after I had iRacing

Anyone know of any offers for returning members? I'd be interested in coming back if that's possible.

Offers are normally only for new members. They do offer once or twice a year the one year renewal for $49.

Right now they have a credits deal where if you purchase $20 you get $25 and if you purchase $75 you get $100. That ends April 19th (I think).

Hey guys,

Not sure if this is the place to ask so forgive me if I'm mistaken,

1. As a rookie, I only get 4 tracks to race on? If I want to race on more tracks I need to purchase them with new cars as well?

2. Can I join leagues and tournaments? Do they affect the iR and SR as well?

Thank you all!

Is there a way to record with Fraps and avoid all the lag I keep getting? I'm trying different FPS settings and all the footage is way to laggy...

Yeah , FRAPS is really bad for that. I have stopped using it for that reason. I now use MSI Afterburner (which has other issues but at least when it works , doesn't ruin fps during capture)

Licence rating doesn't stop you from buying content , but can limit the use of it in competition. You could buy the Williams F1 but you won't be able to race in official events until you obtain an A licence.
IR and SR are not affected in league or tournament racing , but you could race the Williams F1 in these races for example.

I have Afterburner installed on my SDD since I have a MSI card. Is their capturing program better than FRAPS? I currently use FRAPS and it doesn't seem too bad for me but, if Afterburner is better, then I'll have to make the switch.

I decided to give it a go and I can't seem to get it to record iRacing. It just records the desktop when I click the record hotkey. I have set the detection level of iRacing to "none"

I have only been able to use Afterburner in 32 bit mode. When I have it at 64 bit mode I cannot record anything. I'm not sure if you can or not but I have not looked to see if you can.

That might explain things. Any way to change iRacing down to 32 bit?

I'm not at home so I can't see anything but on the home page, there should be an icon that looks a wrench (I guess) It is blue near the forums tab. Click on it and you should see 64 bit mode and turn it off. I think there is a save button (or autosave) but if there is not try changing some settings in there and it should save. I'm going off of memory, I hope that helps you.

Correct there. Even though it's in 32 bit mode, Afterburner still seems to not detect it when I record. I get the sound but, just a black screen.

Is it possibly because I have a really small computer screen? I have a less than 1280x720 screen. It's like 1242x6** screen.

Do you guys have audio problems using Afterburner? The video capture is great, but for whatever reason the sound in the captured footage is really quiet and I can barely hear it..

I actually just got mine working. Seems like my sound is ok.

We're almost at week 12. I have to do one more race both at the Grand Am and the GT Challenge series to get the bonus credits, that's basically the only reason I'm still running these series.

I like the McLaren but I'm tired of MC racing, it caused me enough trouble this season. If it gets its own series I might return to it otherwise I'll stick to formula cars on S2.

What can you do exactly with the credits you get? Is it like real money to purchase cars, tracks, renew subscription and so on?

Correct.

I like afterburner. It automatically makes the video 16:9 720P. Gives me the amount of time I have been recording and current file size. And no lag. Really good program so far. Hopefully it works on my other PC games.

What settings do you have the sound on? I've played around with it a bit and I'm getting nowhere fast..

Video Format: MJPG Compression
95% Quality
16:9 720P
Framerate 30 FPS
Framrate Limit Disabled
Multithreaded Optimization: Auto
Enable Gamma Correction Checked
Audio Source # 1: Autoselect
Downmix Multichannel Audio to Stereo Checked
Stereo Rip

Those are the settings I'm using. Need to play with it a bit though. The video quality is not amazing at the moment. About the same as FRAPS.

Just a heads up for anyone that uses it. The new JJ spotter pack came out yesterday, dwarehouse.com. Just saw it on the iracing forums will be updating later when I get on my gaming pc.

I have had the same sound problems with Afterburner (no sound at all despite default settings working fine) but it only happened once and appeared to be a completely random occurence. I have had it working fine in 64 bit mode too. At the moment it just wont capture at all.
There was an update a while ago so I installed it and the fresh install worked perfectly....for a while. After much head scratching and no apparent cause found , I reinstalled and again it worked fine.....once.
That's where I'm currently at. Unsure of what the problem is. A great program when its works though :)

Even with Kamui's settings I'm still getting nowhere.. Like I said the video footage looks fine I just have very quiet sound..

Have you checked your iRacing in game sound settings? If you have them set to 0.0Db it shouldn't be a problem. That's about the only thing that my limited tech knowledge can think of at the moment.

I *think* I remember reading that Afterburner only works with certain video cards. I'm probably wrong but I think it was in a discussion of FRAPS vs alternatives.

Roger. Thank you

Anybody here running the McLaren at Road Atlanta this week? Just did some testing and can't really seem to find any Quali speed but, my race pace seems really quick (I'm sure it's probably average ;] ). 1:20.5's right now with 109 Liters of Fuel.

I'm horrible around Road Atlanta, 1:22.8 is the best I can manage :nervous:

Mac: On your audio capture settings (in the screen capture tab) try selecting WASAPI playback device. This will bring up another button below with a drop down menu. Select the source that corresponds with the one in your iRacing sound settings. See if that makes a difference ? Other than that , I'm stumped. It certainly can be a glitchy program when it's not in the mood to play.

(Yes , Afterburner is working for me again , its a mystery !)

Might have a bash later. Need to get my road safety rating up before the season ends otherwise I'll be relegated to D. Absolutely killed it last year.

I'm pretty much a tard when it comes to this stuff. I must have deleted my sound package. Can't find it anywhere in my IRacing folders. I looked on the forum, but could not find any info about how to download it. I get the standard spotter pack, and have downloaded the JJ cuss pack, but can't install it.
