Just finished my third paint scheme. I want you guys to tell me which one of the three you like the best and I'll submit it for the contest. Still unsure if I should just ask here or create a separate thread included with poll.

Just sent you the email.

I. Want. iRacing. :drool::drool::drool:

And no offence hampus_dh, but your repeated double posting is quite irratating. Then again, I am weird...

You have to take into consideration that you drive in the Rookie class.
You cannot compare the driving in let´s say a beginners cart series to V8 supercar series, Star Mazda series or even the F1 series IRL.

Rookie class is not representative of how the racing is in iRacing at all.
Your job is to put down the time, one full day will guaranteed get you out of R class, one race per day will only exaggerate the anger you feel after someone punted you off the track instead of doing another one right after.

Trust me, the grass is greener on the other side ;) And in general it gets greener until you come to F1, seems like some people are rookies in that class based on what spectated.

That's not necessarily true. It's not just your safety rating that determines one's skill level on track as you'd know.

It's a mix a irating *and* SR that gives you the best picture of someone's racecraft potential.

This is what iRating is:
As a Rookie you will not be able to see either rating, but it is still being calculated. Your iRating groups (groups are referred to as "splits) you into races with similarly skilled drivers. Usually, if you finish in the top half of the field you will gain iRating and if you finish in the bottom half you will lose iRating. All Rookies begin with a 1600 iRating and ttRating. iRating is all zero-sum. To gain iRating someone must lose the same amount of iRating. The average of all iRacers will always be 1600.

And what you said about the Rookie series, that it's meant to just get out of, isn't the only way to get good racing. It comes down to how much practice and carefulness a person's willing to dedicate each week.

You can race all season long in the Rookie class, if you like it, and have super-clean racing.
Just like in Rookie there's gonna be low-split and high-split races in any class. People should know that the higher they get their iRating the better quality of races they can expect, not just SR. Anyone can get their SR up easily by just driving like a grandma but it takes a lot of work to get that iRating up to snuff.

I'm gonna host a session tomorrow afternoon for MX5 Roadsters @ Okayama, and other tracks, for any GTP member (I'll post the name and password here).

When?

Yes i already know that, but to get your iRating up to that level means you have to drive in the lower splits from the beginning. Thus enhancing the chance of being wrecked or caught up in a wreck.

You don´t start with 2000-2500 in iRating so everytime you get punted off and crash you lose alot of iRating.

In my opinion it´s to get out as quickly as possible, do some series where the chance of not running with beginners is alot bigger, work up the iRating and THEN do the Rookie class again if you like.

Yes you can do rookie class all season but you won´t progress anywhere, you will stay in the same place no matter how good you run if you have D class or higher. So you can´t get to A class for only running in the R class.
You can however lose all your SR in R class.
So it´s better to run the Gran Touring Cup instead where you actually can progress to the next level. they also run Mazdas.

That's what I'm saying. Some people (like myself) don't see iRacing as a career to complete. I just want it for clean racing that's easy to jump into. So I guess we can agree that there's two routes to take. Yours, which involves getting into higher class right away in order to raise your iRating more consistently. Or mine, which can be just as effective if you just learn to race around the Rookie drivers that are accidents waiting to happen and get your iRating up doing your best.

You can however lose all your SR in R class.
I can post lots of stories of people losing tons of SR in B or Aclass. Idiocy isn't exclusive to the lower levels.

Around 3pm EDT (22:00 GMT). I'll post it up here when it's ready. It'll be a casual session with a few quick races.

I've played for two days and I'm still in the rookie class. I tried 5 races yesterday and couldn't complete one because of someone else's wrong doing, once being crashed out on the parade lap. My very first oval race, legends at S. Boston, I stomped the competition, including going from 6th to first in a few laps. I've come across 2 guys with B licenses that were clearly, meaning 0.5-1.0 seconds per lap, faster than me in the MX5 cup races, and I've come across none faster in the legends race, obviously skill isn't a problem! But both my ratings are just below 2.5. I mean, really, dudes crashing on the parade lap?! It has been very fun, no regrets at all, but I should be racing faster people than I am stuck with now. I guess I should've bought my way out of the rookie class. :ouch:

That's the one thing that kinda sucks about iRacing. Even if you come in with a lot of talent from other sims, you are forced to start from the bottom of the ladder in order to get your rating up. This is the main reason I haven't worked on getting my rating up at all, but with my imminent retirement from Gran Turismo right around the corner, this will be good incentive for me to start working on my career in iRacing :dopey:

Btw, what cars do you have atm? We oughta get together for some racing over the weekend possibly 👍

I am down for some racing with some old GT buddies! My cars are: C6R, Impala Class A, both MX5's, legends, spec ford, solstice and street stock. Tracks are: Summit Point WV(I grew up near this track!:)), Charlotte, Daytona, Lanier, Lime Rock Laguna Seca, Kagayama, Oxford, SoBo and Thompson. I was going to buy some others but I didn't want to spend money on something I won't use for a long time, but that doesn't mean I'm not down to buy a couple more cars or tracks. I got another $50 burning a hole in my paypal pocket. :D

I've gone up to C licence and back to D trying to get used to the V8 and crashing, then trying to get back up in week 13, which sadly ends up making it worse with wreckers on the races (my fault for not qualifying sometimes) But this time I think I'm gonna get to C and hopefully finally go up to B. Right now I'm at 3.41 D

Thanks ;) There are some fantastic skinners out there.

I just downloaded a Vodafone skin vor the V8SC and put it in the car's paint folder but when I start up the game it doesn't work. I had done the skin thing before for the F1 but now I don't remember exactly what I have to do and what I did wrong

Did you remember to rename it with your customer ID?

I saw a guy doing a Tequila skin for a mustang so i quickly PM:d him asking him if he could do it, he charged $20 for the Mustang skin but since he had all the lines down now he only took $15 for it. More pictures and the name of the skinner here,

Just check the showroom thread from time to time and when you see a quality skin you basically know the quality of his work and can then just send him a PM.
Never make a thread and ask, they will attract all kinds of "pros" :P

Just make sure it was ok to do so, many people with skins including me do not want anyone to use it but if you took it at tradingpaints check for any disclaimer saying that he doesn´t want anyone to use it.
If not, then congrats ;) I have a RBR skin myself that was free.

I have also a nice Mustang skin.

Damn!! I'm so frustrated with this thing!! How can you progress when the field is full of morons out to take you down!
Just got taken out of 2nd place, taken to the grass on the main straight twice by 2 different morons and ultimately taken out of the race being used as a guard rail by one of the morons who pushed me to the grass on the straight!!

The worst part is that I am the one who suffers from it by getting points taken from me thank's to this loonies!!!

That tends to happen on rookie series. A good idea is to qualify and drive defensively. If the guy wants to pass you by hitting you, let him pass, he will probably crash not much time later. Is the MX-5 Race still up for later?

Before I start a session I'd like to know how many of you are down to join it right now.

Let me know in the next few minutes.
