Once upon a time, I bought a G25 but even so thought it was way too much to pay just to be able to play games. I still bought it. Then a few years later I saw the CSW was released, I read the reviews, liked the sound of it but decided that it was far too expensive to buy to play games with. Some months later I bought one anyway. The Accuforce wheel looks great but I really couldn't justify spending that much on a wheel.

Ok, cool thanks

Here is how I look at it. A CSW after the launch sale is $600 plus their best rim (918) for $400. That's a grand for a wheel that is a little less than 2/3rds the price of a wheel that is many times superior in performance and reliability. However, do I have the money to buy one? NO! If I did, would I? Yes, I think it's quite a decent price considering the "cost" of software these days is astronomical.
Just my view of it at the moment, and it could change in future.

Yeah, I always finish behind Nathan Growden. Usually he starts in front of me, and I slowly gain on him during the race. Then he usually finishes a second or less in front of me. Great guy, I talk to him very often and he races fun and clean.

I'm not talking about the good clean fast guys, I'm talking about the guys who complain non stop or always involved in something with someone. It's like sometimes you can't get away from them in races period, I had to protest the guy which is the first time I ever had even thought about it.

You'll soon find out that protesting almost does nothing.

Oh I know, it was more of the fact that it let him know people aren't going to turn a blind eye to his behavior. I had to resubmit it and got a email back that made no sense, just stated they would let the offender know the outcome. His racing is one thing, sending PM's threatening to wreck me every race is a whole different ballgame (which is what I sent them, not the racing deal because I know how that will be ruled).

I don't know, I only protested a handful of times, and every time I got a reply "the protest has reviewed and the member under protest notified of the outcome" which I think means that something was done.

Team GTaplanet needs you!! Yes, you reading this!
iRacing has announced its first official 24 Hour race for the 24 Hours of Daytona so the time has come for us to come together to show the sim racing world that GTPlanet is the strongest Sim Racing community there is! Check it out and put yourself down for a couple of stints:
GTPlanet Racing Team is now open for business!!

Good luck to everyone in that race! My friend and I will be entering together in a BMW Z4 if I'm still in Japan at the time. 2 people for 24H is going to be tough with 3 hour stints but, it will be a really good test of concentration. How exactly do resets and such work? I assume none right?

I think Road Warrior events do have 1 quick repair? I honestly don't know for sure...

So just read about that whole series and I was already thinking "looks neeeeeaaat", but then I saw Round 6:

New Chevy and Toyota Trucks

Looks like there is no towing. So, I guess that means no quick repair too. Guess just making it to the finish with minimal damage will get you in the top 5. Most people on iRacing couldn't do 2.4 hours without cracking a few times. 24... no chance. Luckily I have a lot of experience with these kinds of things that help but, it must be really difficult for others.

I think that's because no matter what pace your running at the cars in Iracing are always on the edge . You cant really drop your pace a bit and relax in Iracing, you always have to be ready for the car to step out. In some cases slowing your pace is a complete disaster because the car reacts worse at slower speeds, although it is a lot better now than it was. Iracing is a white knuckle experience no matter what your pace is.

I hope the stupid incident limit is thrown away for this race

No incident limit for the 24 Hour races!

Really? I've always felt like even when I back my pace off a half second a lap or so, I can still have complete control over the car. In fact, I'd say I'll probably be utilizing things like; Letting off the throttle 200m before braking points, slip streaming, and a slightly lower fuel setting to try and save a pit stop or two during the race. I feel like it may come in handy as the pit stop times in iRacing can be farely long.

Well that's the problem with Iracing for me, I never really feel comfortable in the cars. While the cars have improved a lot over the last couple builds there is still something not right with the grip. I will still sometimes find myself facing the wrong way with no clue as to why the car did it. Not nearly as often as a year ago, but still to often. Don't get me wrong I am no expert driver who never spins, but I know my mistake, with Iracing I don't always no what went wrong. Take the same corner the same way for 6 laps and all of a sudden lap 7 the car cant make the corner, but lap 8 and so on the car will again make the corner.

Am I the only one kind of confused on the 24 hr car lineup? I mean shouldn't the DP be included instead of the Ford GT....or am I completely wrong in that thought.

I know the group I'm racing with will be racing the BMW which I wasn't a huge fan of at first but have grown to really enjoy racing it. I'm slowly getting faster, but I'm comfortable at a 1.49-1.50 unless I'm really pushing.

This year they are only using the HPD for prototype instead of the Riley and the Ford GT being used is the GT3 version. So you have just the HPD for prototype class and the Ford GT GT3, BMW, Mclaren and Ruf track for the GT3 class.

Our GT planet team is going to use the Ford GT. It seems to be the fastest on the straights pretty easily. We are running mid 45's to low 46's for race pace with a full tank of fuel. I still think there is more time to be had depending on the weather settings for the race. Still waiting on that before hardcore practicing and setup tweaking.

It just seemed like an odd car for this race since it's not even racing in it but oh well, it is what it is. I can see why the Ford is the fastest in a straight line, the BMW is like pushing a brick but it's stable for me now (at first it seemed to want to step out alot on corner entry under hard braking).

Me and a friend are looking for another driver for the BMW for Daytona, preferably somebody who is US based as we're both UK so need somebody who could fit in and do the hours more suitable for them.

For that matter, GT3 cars aren't even used in Tudor. Same as the LMP2 spec car that we have.

Sounds like you may have a setup issue then? Maybe this is something new with the build? When I last played on the previous build, I never felt such sensations.

Looks like I have to fly off to Italy last minute and will have to miss the 24 :(

Must admit I have played the newest build at all. Wasn't aware of there being any real physics improvements.

So what's the best way to purchase iRACING as a first time member.............through Steam or directly on the iRacing.com website?

Thanks in advance for your replies..........👍

Our Roar 24 ended in the 3rd hour before I even had a chance in the car. We had a guy who was faster than another GT but GT guy kept blocking or not letting us by if we caught him on the straights. He moved up coming through the tri-oval while our driver was kind of close, took us both out.

Granted our driver should have both gave room and let him just have the position til he either wrecked or messed up enough to get by with ease.

I just love that it is a 24 hr race and it happened in hour 3... If you see a guy much faster than you what's the point of blocking it ends up slowing down both drivers, also if someone is faster you can tail them and find out what turns or key areas that they are faster in so you can adjust. Some people these days.

Anyways IRacing should have some kind of stakes to fight against this, so people are less likely to take risks. Yeah you may lose something sometimes but people would take it more serious. Just my 0.02
