After doing my first Multi-class race on Spa, mixed feelings. Finished 3rd in the Ruf but didn't find it a fun experience to be honest :indiff:. Spent more time looking in my mirror for the faster cars and making sure i didn't cause a crash with them, which was successful at least ha

multi class is tough, but works as long as all drivers respect each other. I have ran the Global Challenge a few times in Kia and i have seen some real messes!

The faster cars need to wait for a safe place to pass, plus the slower car needs to give room. This only get messy when you are fighting for position.

But this is the fun part of it isn't it?

I agree Mac , there seems to be less "feel" through the wheel. I've only driven the Z4 and Aston on the new tyre , temps are down around ten degrees C on the Z4 which is great. It was difficult keeping them from overheating on that car so this is a welcome improvement. I've also increased my cold pressures 1 click with no negative side effects. Once I adjust my setups , I'm guessing laptimes to be around the same as the previous tyre , maybe slightly faster. I haven't checked for wear rates on long runs but our league have a 32 lap Monza GP race tonight. I guess I'll have a better idea soon !

Okay so I'm not crazy. I've taken a little more time to get used to the new tires, etc and I'm starting to like it the more I drive it. It takes some getting used to, and some cars I find still lack a bit of overall feel, but it all feels like a step in the right direction. I'm Still interested in hearing some more opinions from you guys though..

Yea, i think that was the problem tbh. Not knowing if the driver was going to wait at the corner or divebomb me ha

Karts and rallycross would be hilarious in iRacing. Neither would be very clean, especially with lower-skill drivers.

I think a bit was a joke of that survey. everyone jokes about wanting dirt!
My thoughts are that they are think about AI and Karting (both of which i am not interested in) but you were able to put your requests in for next track and vehicles.
I know the iracing guys read the iracing forum a lot (dont see Kaz doing that!...well, not replying to people!) so they should have a good idea of what people want.

I think we will see more mixed class racing (for the road side) from iracing....maybe oval dirt is in the back ground too??

That is the beauty of Mixed Class Racing. You have 2 or 3 other races going on at the same time as the one that you are in for class. It goes from being the fastest car winning, to the smartest and quickest car through traffic or with faster cars. To me, it ads an extra dynamic. And I've been able to use my many years of mixed class racing experience in iRacing this year in Super Trofeo when overtaking some of the gentleman Am drivers in the series.

I just did a survey that iRacing sent me, some interesting questions about adding karts and off road/dirt racing

Really nice survey to be honest. I liked a lot of the questions that are being asked. And I think they will have a better idea of what needs to be added to the sim and what doesn't need to be added to the sim. I've of course asked them to add any Hybrid LMP1 that they can, as well as a badge, or some difference in the licence/name for real life drivers like myself. This way you know we are verified pro's as well as I would think it would make other members happy to know that they have beat or had a good race with a real life pro :)

I completed the survey last night, I must admit I was a little concerned to see questions about drag racing, dirt, and AI etc, for me that sounds like features that make me think they want to be a Gran Turismo style of game :nervous: I understand the need to appeal to a wider audience to bring in more new members, but for me I think iRacing should remain focused on being the ultimate online road/oval racing simulation, that is what attracted me to iRacing in the first place, and I guess thats why all of us here love iRacing too.
For me, I voted/commented on the need to keep improving physics and tire models, adding track evolution and marbles etc. Day/night (and weather) transitions, because well now we can do 24hr races etc it seems a bit...odd having to do them in complete daylight conditions. I know they are already probably working on these things, but for me these are the features that are going to make iRacing the complete racing simulation.
I've expressed my opinion in here before on adding new cars and tracks, and I voted/commented in the survey about adding too many cars, I think any new cars added should be purely added to existing classes, because a new car and a new series for it tends to dilute participation in other series. Therefore adding new tracks is the priority for me.

In terms of the specific cars and tracks I asked to be added, I'm with @Kamuifanboy and stated a new LMP1 car (for me the Toyota would be nice :)), and maybe something like a GP2 openwheeler. Tracks I asked for were the Istanbul/Turkish GP track, and for a laugh I also asked for my local track...Pukekohe, it's a little track but so fast and bumpy and so much fun to drive.

I don't think there is a need to worry about those. I feel they are more gauging interest for a new product using the iRacing platform.(except for AI)
AI won't be a bad thing either, only if it remains a remote server(offline) feature only. We know from leaked posts of the past that there is indeed AI available or some form of it on iRacing, I don't think it's something that will afect the community in a negative way if it ever becomes available to the general public.

I 100% agree.

I guess that makes a whole lot more sense introducing those features in a new product.
AI only worried me because no matter how good their AI is, it's still not going to be anywhere near as good as racing or practicing against real life players. I guess I was worried because if someone spends all their time practicing against AI then jumps into a official race thinking they are all that because they beat AI...well I can see it ending in tears everytime.

100% agree, AI to me would make sense if I'd like to do some laps at a track that's not been used in the official series when I feel like using it...

I don't know if the steam thing had anything to do with it but lately the grand touring has been real messy. I race the Jetta and my last two races have had silly stuff happen on the parade lap and lap 1. Lime rock doesn't help though with the Jettas being as fast as the Mustangs. I had to pass quite a few to keep fellow Jettas behind .

Even still I have had two massive wrecks that took out half the field, 2nd one I got turned avoiding it :ouch:.

Its the beginning of a new season and all those X rookies are trying out a new series with their new cars. :nervous:

It's just a case of free car and track at a new season start. It also doesn't help that the weather is fairly unkind to the mustangs. We can't get the tyre pressures low enough to stop them being like beach balls at the end of the race.

For the survey i voted for the dynamic track model (mainly for oval racing) i also asked for an overhaul of the IMSA series with two new GTE cars, new DP and new P2 car as i think that's the most outdated flagship series currently.

I asked for these in the survey:

knockhill,%20circuitmap.jpg

Haha when it said about any new tracks we'd like I went for Knockhill too, just for a laugh :p.

Well, seeing as they've got every other current BTCC circuit signed up already, it was the only one missing!

Its also one of the most challenging circuits imo, and I'd like to see more shorter club circuits added not just the huge international circuits that we are currently getting.

Knockhill would work nice for most road schedules below B class. I wish Oulton and Brands Hatch got used more. I was close to asking for a BTCC car but I don't know which I want beyond the BMW or the Honda - any and all would be good. I went for the GT3 Viper just because V10 and I want it.

ohhh.....Fuji! great....why didnt i think of that???

but i also asked for more touring cars (BTCC or WTCC or what ever)

I suggested something along the lines of a GT4/GS/GTS style car. (Aston Martin Vantage, BMW M3, Mustang Boss, etc). I like the idea of a touring car too.. I'm not really in favour of yet another GT3 car.

Here's what I suggested:

Honda NSX GT500 2015
Sorry to dampen your hopes but Hondas iRacing licences has resulted in nothing being made which was the older GT500 car and the BTCC Civic, Honda don't want to share the data which iRacing need to build the cars, odd because the Honda BTCC team actually openly documented the whole build of the car.

Sorry to tell you, but Fuji won't happen until there is a management change. When I asked the management there if they ever got approached by iRacing. He said yes, and said that he didn't like the idea. And finished with I won't sign a contract with them.

I'm guessing the team's philosophy isn't shared by the corporate office.

I finally did the survey, my suggestions were;

and
2012-Ridge-Web.jpg

Then in the comments I asked for more historic cars and tracks like a historic GT car like the Shelby Daytona Coupe.

I hope they get it right the first time around, not the exagerated effect found on the tire degradation from a season ago or the exagerated effects of rFactor 2...
