Yet another day, yet another guy who doesnt know what the hell he is doing...
You know that moment when you are rounding the hill on lime rock in a tighish formation and you see tire smoke on top? That moment when your heart skips because you know its all blind? Yeah, that happened:

Yes, he really should have slammed on the brakes and stayed still. In that situation, if I had been you, I would have lifted a little on seeing the smoke to work out what was going on.

I won't quote all that but thank you.

They almost make it seem like the league thing wasn't quite what the regular one is which is why they have it cheaper.

Only thing holding me back is the eventual cost of all this and if I'll r really have enough time to justify that.

Aye, time and money are the rub.

For myself the sim is well worth it for clean pickup racing. I do not have much time to devote to a regular schedule of a league in any game at this time.
imho, ymmv, of course.

Struggling in Class C at the moment. Seems every race I do in the Mazdas someone spins behind me and I get caught up in it one way or another. SR dropped from 2.21 to 1.50...

Quit racing the MX5 rookie series and go into Grand Touring or the Star Mazda series!

Its the Star Mazdas I'm talking about! :nervous:

Ohh wow! Last season was great for me, helped me mantain the SR up. Just whatever you do don't drop out of the race, finish it that way any negative SR will be cancelled by the positive you'll make.

Yeah it sounds like a great deal of fun, I'm starting up tonight. Lots of test drives and practice laps tonight.

Im definately on the back foot in SR at the moment. Got a lot of work to do to claw it back. Got +16 in the last race I did despite a stupid spin on the 2nd last corner of Road America.

Same. Down to 1.62 (was at 1.52 before this race) due to some daft errors on my part and being taken out of the race by cars spinning and joining the track into me. :indiff:
The long grind ahead!
Ah well, just got another win in the MX-5. Started last, managed to avoid the carnage and then took the lead on lap 17 with a ropey move in the last corner. I was stuck behind this guy for about 7 laps though. I was faster everywhere but he was good enough not to make room for me on the tight track. Great fun and sweating a lot though! I hate warm nights haha!
👍

I just bought that "GAME BOOSTER" one of the forum members talked about. I'll try it out this weekend and let you know if it helped any.

$10 for the premium one, worth a try

One more nooby question and seriously thanks for all those taking the time to answer mine.

If I get my D license down the road and I buy the car needed but not all the tracks for a particular series, is it possible to participate in that series and advance licenses (provided I meet the 4 race minimum)?

You can participate in the series on the tracks that you own, though obviously you will have to wait for those tracks to cycle in.

Okay that's how I understood it. Thanks. Off work in a bit and home to try all this out.

Any tips for limerock, my best time managed was a 1:00.4xx. Really want to get under a minute.
I'm only breaking for the first two corners and the corner after the hill, the rest I lift off and the last corner I try to do full throttle. Don't know where to chase this time.

Last three right handers is most likely where your time is lost. I just figured them out a few nights ago. Running consistent mid 59's. Best lap of a 59.4xx. If I can smooth out an entire lap I know I can rip off a 59.1xx or 59.2xx.

Speeds to shoot for:

Right hander before hill - 92-94 mph
Right hander after hill - around 90 mph
Last turn - 102 mph

Most importantly be smooth with the steering through these corners. Any jerking on the wheel will scrub off speed.

Found this out after watching some faster guys and taking note of corner speeds and brake/turn in points. Definitely helps sometimes to just spectate and watch what other people are doing.

Also, for the 2nd corner take a wide line to set yourself up for turn 3. The correct line through 2 can really rocket you through 3 and gives you a great run to 4.

Thanks for the advice guys, really appreciated, one more question, how can I save a replay of my race and watch the faster guys?? Only had the game for a week or two

When viewing the replay, there should be a thing that looks like a spanner or something to the right of all the play/pause buttons. Click that then there should be a button with scissors on it. Click that then select the whole race. Then view it later by going to "Events" on the main page, then click "Replays".
I think you should be able to view all other drivers with different views and stuff.
Hope this helps. 👍

I would say time is probably lost in the entrance to the third corner too. I had the end of the track nailed but it took me a long time to work out third corner. You need to exit second well, enter third wide and brake early. Basically you point the car into third with rotation under brakes. Once you are out of the third corner you are essentially on the back straight. From mid-3/4 the way through the third corner you want to be on the throttle and not letting off, afterall, its a straight.

I am pretty sure I watched this video a few months ago. I dont enter the third corner like that because it doesnt work once the tires are worn but the rest of it is pretty spot on.

You should not really watch other guys on your replay. The information is wrong.
Better to watch a youtube video of the fast guy or get his .rpy file of his lap.

Ok, so I reported the guy from the video I posted the other day and I got this response last night:

Good Day!

Too bad I don't know what action they took.

I don't think I'll receive another email. I received an automatic one when I sent my protest and last night this one. According to it, there was an outcome already, but they only notify the member under protest about it.

You know that moment when you are rounding the hill on lime rock in a tighish formation and you see tire smoke on top? That moment when your heart skips because you know its all blind? Yeah, that happened:

I was running 7th, the guy in 6th has been one of my favourite competitors since I joined iRacing. He escapes the carnage (insane luck) to second place whereas all of the rest of us at the back of the pack are involved in the crash. This crash was really advantageous for me (not SR wise) because I was the first one out of the scene and into the pits. I also know that there is a refuel screen on the blackbox for the car which can reduce your pit time by about 30 seconds. If you don't refuel you are out of there within 20 (everyone refueled) which is what I did.

So in the end, I ended up taking 3rd place and the guy infront of me who escaped took first.

Sorry champ but you could have done so much more to avoid that. As you crest the hill you can see the smoke. You should have slowed down but instead you kept the throttle in. Being a good racer is knowing when to push and when to back off. Especially in a series such as the rookie class where you get drivers with such unpredictability, better to save your car then crash and destroy not only your race but lose points as well.

From most of your videos of iracing, you say that there are some idiots, but you don't half put yourself in these situations. Use a bit of spatial awareness and you'll find you'll do better in the long run. Of my 4 race wins in iracing, 2 have come from just being smart. My oval win came from staying out of trouble and backing off when I saw trouble ahead. The other was a road race where I simply just kept the pressure on until the guy made a mistake. When he did so I was there to take advantage. There is nothing more unnerving then having a car up your trumpet for laps on end. Especially at Lime Rock and Okayama where you have several corners that require precise braking, that pressure can cause drivers to crack.

I doubt that it would have mattered. If he had slowed down or stopped to avoid it he most likely would have been hit himself by one of the cars coming up the turn behind him. And even if he had slowed down more, the two cars in the initial incident didn't seem to want to wait for people to pass by before getting turned around. He most likely would have been collected either way.

Its a narrow track with no where to go.
