That is excellent advice but for the last 2 races though I did make sure to qualify which put me at a starting position of 4 & 5. One time the 3rd place dude spun out on me at the chicane and I tried to dodge him and hit the wall. Lesson learned tho. Next time I'm taking them down with me. They should learn to lock up their breaks so they dont spin across the field. That I believe was a lot of bad luck perhaps. I think that could've been avoidable. I have much better control of the car now

I still have slow times at Brands Hatch but I learned to handle the car a lot better

I started practicing at Brands last night thinking it would bore the 🤬 out of me, but to my surprise I fully loved it ! :)
Still not completely happy with my settings but got down to a 1'40.5 with a optimal of 1'40.1. The guys I was practicing with last night were getting 1'39.8's .
I think the WR will be smashed by the end of the week (just not by me ).
I think it will be a good weeks racing :)

@sandboxgod - I'll check you rpy file to see if there's any tips I can give you.

About Brands Hatch, I'm liking it. First time running this configuration of the track, much better than the Indy one.

My PB is 1:40.4xx and my optimal is 1:40.0xx I think. Managed to get two 2nd places today but the guy who won those races is way faster. He did a 1:39.0xx during qualify. It's a portuguese dude I always see on skip races but in other tracks he was just a bit faster than me, I even managed to overtake him and hold my position in a race at Lime Rock once, but this time he's really fast.

I didn't save any replays so far but I'll try to make a video with a fast lap.

I still think your probably following the guys too closely. Thats just my 2 cents.

live and noshog, they are really super times, you guys in the really high splits? those times are like 1 second away from WR pace...I do quite well on lower splits and my time so far is 1.43

edit// never mind, livemusic's irating is like double mine haha...

I was in 6th place at the time battling for 5th before the 11th place dude jumps in there and causes a multi-car wreck. My skippy flew into the air and caught a lil air time. This guy just casually drives away gangsta style.

Trying to upload to youtube but they're dragging their feet atm

Sandbox, do post here pls when you finished uploading, I am interested with skippy vids.
👍

I hadn't done much testing in the F1 before Spa, but now that I have a decent number of laps with a proper setup al I can say is that the NTM is absolutely amazing!!!!! The car somehow managed to get better! It just feel right on spa! don't know if it is the setup or what but my God it feels better than ever!!

Wow! Got my first win (above rookie class), and probably my only win, last night at Brand's Hatch in the Skip Barber series!

The SKB at Brands Hatch was a low populated, low SOF, late race so that helped this slow, but consistent pilot take the win! There were 3 of us pilots who were in competition for the win. The other two were a bit faster than me, but they looked to be 'on the edge' and not very clean and they eventually crashed out.

And it was my first run with S30Zenzow's awesome "Alitalia" paint!
:)

livemusic it will be great if you get time to load up the rpy file. But if not I'll be getting a vid uploaded shortly

If you watch that rpy I uploaded I was giving the guys lots of room but wasn't able to tell where the guy was going to spin (my guess is he made no attempt to lock his brakes).

Computer crashed uploading the video to youtube. I'll get to it in a few days- it looks like it will be a crazy week already....

Was hoping I could get some practice in the HPD at mid ohio but that hasnt happened yet either

Yeah I watched your replays. There's not much you could've done about the crash, he spun right in front of you. I probably wouldn't be able to avoid it either.

About the other replay, one thing I noticed is that you were downshifting only at the exit of some corners. You should downshift before entering a corner, or while entering a corner, so you probably lost some time there. Also, it seemed you were a bit slow in some corners, like at parabolica. You should try to push the car's limits more.

Edit:

Don't know if you watched this video I did the other week. It might help illustrate better what I'm trying to say:

Yeah I watched it before but its almost as if I have a learning block in my mind when I watch vids :indiff:

I need to remember to give iSpeed a try when I go on my next weekend warrior binge.

Thanks a lot for your tips that helps a lot. I need to learn to trust myself a lot more in these corners.

Yeah the F1 is soooooo much fun to drive at SPA. I ran into another GTP member there during practice, laperrie (Etienne), who is bloody fast. I think he was hitting something like 1.46.265 in this session and set the top time. Turns out I've raced with him before in the HPD. Of course, I think I got hit during that race so we never bumped into each other. He gave me a set that I just plan to practice with.

There's just something very beautiful bout f1 cars cruising down spa. This car was great on the OTM but so much better now with the NTM!

That's a pretty good time arround Spa! Fastest I've seen is a 45.9 by Marcus something, he's an absolute ALIEN so Lapierre's time is pretty damn good! Best I've managed on the setup I have is a 47.5 with optimum beign a 46.0 wich I'm pretty sure I won't reach on this setup!

sandbox, I watched your vid. Just one question, have you watched the iracing driving school videos? Your downshift like livemusic mentioned earlier, is not correct. If you have watched iracing's videos, I would watch them again. They are great resources.

I didn't downshift on purpose in some corners cause it didn't improve my times. Then again that lap was from a race. I was really turtling it cause I don't trust myself in the corners *

response to willy btw. I watched those vids a long time ago when I joined. I tried watching them over and over a few times but alas I've given up on becoming an alien anytime soon

Man guys like that are just too fast... Honestly I've been thinking more and more bout retiring form sim racing for a bit cause I just dont see myself getting fast like these guys ever lol

don't quit. if your bad your irating will go down and you will be put in the best split for your skill level. I actually suck at the skip, I seem good only because of my low splits.

Just ran the Mustang at Watkins Glen. Hit a 2'07.8 or so in qualifying and got pole. Only two others in the race had even qualified. I have a hard time staying consistently fast at Glen, and even though I kept up a lot of 2'08s I couldn't hold off #2, who didn't qualify. Anyhow, was pleasantly surprised with getting promoted to Class C afterwards.

Eric, I watched that race and you looked good out there, I had no idea that your were the same Eric that posted here. Small world. lol. Actually I was ghost racing you and Nick V in spectator mode. I had a good split at the 8:15 race and got great points for the week so decided not to race to preserve my iRating bump. That car and track combo is super fun.

See you out there soon!

I'm just going to say this: if your only goal is to be the fastest you might as well quit now. There's always someone faster.

People should race because they enjoy it. The speed comes with practise, and the practise is fun if you enjoy racing. Send some friend requests to people around your speed and challenge yourself to beat them.

We can't all be Ayrton Senna. Just have fun.

Thanks! I dunno why but I haven't quite clicked with this combo. Had a lot of fun all three weeks prior (first season with the Mustang), But I just can't chase anyone down at The Glen for some reason.

Loving racing at Zandvoort in the MX5 for the GT Cup this week though.

And, since PSRTV can't handle it, GlacierTV is going to be covering the Daytona 500 races this week, which is going to interfere with our Continental Endurance Series league race. Its been put to vote whether to move it to Sunday or push it back one week.

Crap. GT Cup race didn't go official. Guess I'll run one Mazda Cup and go to bed.

I'm seeing very low participation at brands hatch in the skippy. I wonder why. It's a great track.
I guess it's because this track isn't used very often so some people probably don't have it. I only bought it because it was used in a championship I've participated last year.

Cheers left.

Well, I hate brands hatch so much but I don't think I have learnt so much advance techniques in such a short period of time. I have really advanced my knowledge of the Skip on this track like no other yet I am no where that fast or as close to WR as any other track. Odd. I think I have a lot to learn about the Skip over the next few weeks, I am going to take the techniques I have learnt and practise them some more.

Overall, not happy about my progress. PB 1.42 but I have no confidence of producing this in race mode or over 15 laps without a spin out. Sad.

Looks like I ain't the only one who hates Brands Hatch. The level of participation compared to normal races is astonishing... 50% difference?

For everyone's information, the fastest lap at SPA in the F1 is supposedly 1'44.3 by Samuel Libeert but the fastest I've seen is 1'44.6 by Max Dell'Orco. Personnally, I have improved to low 1'45s and a YouTube video will be posted tomorrow, if not today. Unfortunately, I had one little (x1) incident on that 1'45.282 but still it's a cool lap to watch!

I am enjoying Brands Hatch. Even Turn 1 which scares the life out of me in a good way at every lap! :)

I bought the track immediately because I am a road racing fan. I think I have run twice on the track; once with the Grand Touring Cup and second time now with the Skippy.
