I love the Daytona Prototype, it's fast and fairly easy to handle, but can still be a handful at times.

The Daytona Prototype is by far my favorite car, I can drive that like no other. With the NTM it doesn't slide like the OTM but it has a bit better grip now. Can't wait to move to C class.

Thanks guys for adding detail about ispeed. The more we get, the more data we have to sample.

Can we import .rpy files into this too? Doesn't seem necessary tho due to all the laps to compare against

It's no secret that I have been peeved at Brands Hatch. Taking my frustration out on LRP for next weeks race. I think I am doing well so far after 24 laps.

Going to kill this race next week to make up for me -200 or -300 irating this week.

I feel with a few more days I can nail 57.xxx. I can do this pretty constantly too. Such an easy track.

Btw that looks like a very excellent time I wonder what time I can hit there. I'll go try later today

Thanks for the feedback on iSpeed guys, it sounds like a sweet program. Since it hooks up to iPads I think I'll take that approach.

Alright I'm taking the plunge, I'm going to give it a try for a month and see how I like it and I'll go from there. I have a few questions for you guys though if you wouldn't mind answering them.. :)

1. If I wish to purchase more cars/tracks, what do I have to do and how much is it?

2. Can you make custom liveries in Photoshop?

3. What would you guys recommend for a first timer like me?

1. If I wish to purchase more cars/tracks, what do I have to do and how much is it?

If you're signing up for a month trial, try to avoid purchasing more content. I know it's a temptation and we've all been there. But with the free trial, you'll receive some cars and tracks that you can use in Rookie series, either oval or road course. Stick with it. The smart thing to do, if you decide to continue, would be to select a 'series' you want to run, and purchase the car or cars and tracks for that series. The more content you buy, the larger the discount. So it makes sense to buy it in bulk. But to address your question. iRacing is run through your web browser. Everything you do in iRacing is done through the web porthole. Once you actually select to drive a car or enter a race, the game software will load in the background. So if you decide to purchase more cars and tracks, it's like making an online purchase anywhere else on your PC.

2. Can you make custom liveries in Photoshop?
Yes. :)

3. What would you guys recommend for a first timer like me?
The obvious choice to is to run the Mazda Cup series with the Cup Car. The tracks will be Lime Rock or Okayama (both of which are included with the base content. Keep in mind, it's a rookie series and as a rookie, you'll be racing against other rookies. But it will give you a good taste of what's out there.

Also if you do buy do it in groups of 3, which is 10% off, 6 is 20% off. Find one of the promo codes which you like. The MX-5 Cup car is a good way to start as jjaisli mentioned.

I am not sure how many of these codes still work but see which ones you like. You can only use one.

Nice Times there Swift...
I will give a bit of warning though, there is usually a big turn out at LRP in the Skip, alot of people try it out for the first time. This can mean some very, well, varied races to put it politely
Good luck everyone for the coming week 👍

wow superbike, all your years on the track haasn't taught you much about anger management ;) I will read your post a bit later when I am at home.

Ahh...thanks for the warning...dam that is quite annoying, was looking forward to it, I think my strat will to pole first and avoid crashes.

Anger management? Who is angry? You basically called me a liar (by questioning if I was making this all up), so I wrote a very well thought out and very clear post, because apparently my other posts didn't convey the message well enough for you to understand.

What you construe as anger was simply a very very thorough explanation. I wasn't angry, maybe a bit annoyed, but not angry, not even a little bit.

What do years on the track have to do with anger anyways? Your hero Mr. Senna had some fairly significant outbursts of anger as well in his time.

You can presume whatever you want. Just calm down. Anyone here who reads your posts can tell your a bit peeved. Not worth getting worked up over this superbike. I am happy to man up and drop it. Apologies if any harm was caused. Lets move on.

Well, I guess that's the problem with the internet, you see it as me being angry or "peeved" but I'm sitting here at my laptop responding to you as calmly as humanly possible, I'm enjoying my extended weekend, no anger here whatsoever. My responses to you weren't made in anger, they were made with the genuine intent to help someone who has only been an iRacing member for less than a month and is still learning about things, there is a lot more involved in this simple game that you have yet to experience.

I understand that you are new to iRacing and haven't had enough time to experience these kinds of things within the game, but there is a lot more going on beneath the surface than you know. Some people take this GAME very very seriously and will do whatever it takes to win. You jumped into this thing head first and are getting too wound up over stuff, much like this thread you posted (you should update them, tell them you learned what you were doing wrong and are enjoying the Skip Barber car now) http://members.iracing.com/jforum/posts/list/1843960.page . You have to relax more with this game, just as the experienced members in that thread told you to, you are jumping to conclusions and not really getting accustomed to things. Moving the Skip Barber car to Class C? Really? It's super slow, it doesn't need to be up there with much faster cars, despite it being difficult to master.

Superbike is right sandbagging is and should not be tolerated. I used to see it in local motocross races. People would win some races then lose just to make sure they didn't move up classes. It is cheating, plain and simple.

Mac K
I like it, its going to take some getting used to, but It's fun.

Mac, join a series and stay focused in it. When I joined just like you I bounced around and had fun, but once you learn the points structure and really analyze the iRating and points stats it becomes a whole new ball game.

Also, yes, it takes a lot to get used to, I still find it hard to jump from car to car. When I first started all I drove was the MX-5, fairly successfully, this season I'm only focusing on the Mustang for the Division 2 Championship and to make a long story short I hopped in the MX-5 last night for some fun practice laps and could barely keep the thing on the road. It took a substantial amount of time to get re-acclimated to the car.

Welcome aboard!

Stephane Sarrazin will be running in a HPD in the LMP2 class for WEC.
Kyle Busch used to beat up on Truck series and still races Nationwide series.

How is that for overtalented drivers running in Lower strength field.??
point it its irrelevant argument.
Be happy...

Its not about a fast driver racing against slower drivers it is about a driver who manipulates his irating to do so.

Thanks for the feedback on iSpeed guys, it sounds like a sweet program. Since it hooks up to iPads I think I'll take that approach.

Btw, the program is totally free on the PC. but if you run on an iPhone or iPad I think you'll need to donate the $15 or whatever. Otherwise you'll get timed out (because external devices must connect to the iSpeed web server on your computer). But anyway the Lap Analyzer is the super valuable part which does not need any sort of other display or fee

I was using my iPhone to connect since I dont have another extra monitor laying abouts atm

Exactly. Some of the greatest drivers of all time have raced across multiple series (think 1950's and 1960's F1 drivers who participated in F1 and F2). But people who purposely do poorly at the end of the season to avoid competing against better drivers is asinine.

Thinking about once I get back to the US going with an Eyefinity 5x1 setup with 5x 24" monitors. I think my new Asus 7970 should be able to handle it quite well with most things set to high. The two outside edge monitors would be great for side by side racing.

Thanks again for the tip. I was going to donate the $15 anyway because I have a high regard for entrepreneur's and appreciate how they contribute to all societies. I'll be running the iPad for sure, today I made a little stand for it on my table so it will sit right in front of my tv.

I'm going to go and get it set up now since my son just went to bed. Sim time baby!

I ran iSpeed across a network and it was a real pain to get the second PC going then run it through a browser. It is much better running on the same PC as iRacing.

I now have three 55" Sony HDTV's and iSpeed on a 7" monitor. That's over 13 feet of monitors, totally awesome.

So you know the problem with the internet that it is hard to tell the tone of the other persons conversation yet it was ok to say in your posts that I called you a liar yet I never did?:dunce:

*sigh* Thought you were going to "man up and drop it?"

You asked me if I was "sure if this ever really happened," as if I was making it up for some reason. So you were questioning if I was telling the truth, no?

I was man enough to drop it yet you just keep going? Look at the post at the top of the thread where I said I am happy to drop it + even apologised and look at your response? You go on about how I presumed wrong that you were peeved yet it was ok for you to presume that I indicated that you were a liar? And you ramble on about I have only been a member for one month and therefore I fail to understanding irating?

Move on superbike, no one on these forums can even compare to your experience and skill level. Your some finance/investing genius and spent 10+ years in real racing am I correct? your like Warren Bufft + Senna combined.

I got it to work on my iPhone real quick since they all on same wifi network.

Actually if you want to get technical (and personal) yeah, I raced both motorcycles and open wheel from the age of 5, starting in karts and a 50cc race bike, then onto Formula Ford and 125cc bikes, then onto Formula Continental at which point I stopped motorcycle racing. I was decent, but never the best, but it was more about fun family time with my dad than anything else. I spent close to 15 years racing, but that has nothing to do with this thread.

As for my finances? I do invest, heavily in both real estate and small capital stocks. I do countless hours of research and have done very well to support my family. Does that have anything to do with iRacing though?

Want to go more into it? I am currently finishing my Master's Degree in Financial Management. I have all of the pre-requisites, including an excellent score on the MCAT to start medical school, and become a successful physician as soon as I am done serving my country in the military. But does any of that have anything to do with iRacing?

If none of that has anything to do with iRacing, what is the point of bringing up? Trying to make me look like an elitist? I have said nothing in this thread that has inflated my own accomplishments nor have I talked down to anyone.

You made an assumption that there is nothing wrong with sandbagging, I, and a few others, corrected you. I used my iRacing experience to illustrate that I have indeed witnessed sandbagging before, and been the victim of it on many occasions (since I'm not very good at iRacing, but I still enjoy it).

So, if you are done with your mission to discredit me somehow, I would like to get back to talking about this wonderful game that we both enjoy so much.

I have been meaning to figure this out. I though iSpeed only worked for iPad and computer. But not iPhone. I dont have iPad or another computer...So iPhone would work great.

Grats you win. And as for you not talking down to anyone, you should re read your posts to me.

Are we going to measure our CV's? :) @19years old, CFO $350m property company, currently 10 years in Investment Banking as Financial Analyst. My real life racing consists of a radio controlled car when I was 10 years old, apart from that, everything has been from the television. I am also currently only (not even) a one onth iracing member so clearly I have no clue about irating like you said.

But this has nothing to do with iracing, so lets get on with the discussions about a game we both love. Although I am loving much less due to my horrible week in the Skip.
