Thanks, the late model would be cool, but I watch 'em race every weekend from the pits cuz legends and late models are almost always on the same schedule IRL. They are just like clown cars (except the cars are the clowns and the track is the car) on these 1/4 mile ovals, like WVSO up here in Washington, they take up the whole track, I'd be hitting walls not so much left than right

When is week 13? ..... I guess a better question is there a full year schedule somewhere that I can see?

That's a very good point with the 1x, the glen and spa are it then

There's a PDF of all the schedules somewhere in the documentation section (or maybe only in the forum, it wasn't easy to find), and otherwise check an individual series' schedule and you can tell which week we are on. Season 1 ends sometime in April so I think we're around week 7, without looking.

Ah. I haven't been very active in official races lately...I need to start scheduling myself to hit qualifying for everything and get at least one good race in for the Mustang, Skip and GTC. Took first in class for GTC last night, 3rd in the Skip behind Mr. Stretch.

Roush, doesn't look like you took my advice of having a look around the menus on top of your iracing screen instead of just simplying racing non stop...taking a 30 min break and just having a browse around iracing's website could do you wonders....

please don't race for a year and ask "what is the sporting code" :dopey:

I really need a SLI-PRO or similar device, so difficult trying to do good times without some indication of your speed without having to turn your head etc :( particularly at tracks like Laguna where you probably spin out if you dont do it right

Are you running a single screen? What FOV?

Single screen, on a 42" at 68 FOV. I know 45FOV is better but can't see the dash at that FOV. Also racing the Skip so the dash isn't a digital one. To accurately see my speed I have turn my head to see the bottom left hand corner and its creating 1x and slowing me down.

I mate give ispeed a try but it only works in windowed mode :(

Another thing, is it just me or in the SKip, having 45FOV is really a disadvantage. You can't see all of your wheels that well so when its locked up or not, and its more difficult to see left/right of you? (1 screen). If I get ispeed or some kind of speed indicator, I am thinking of using 45FOV...making me go cross eyed a bit though...

The thing is, the RUF they have shown in the picture is a 700+ hp RWD street car built for weekend racing duties. With that said, it will be difficult to put it into a multi-class race with "race cars."

I think they will start out with a RUF Supercup or something similar with just the RUF.

Also good news, looks like next season we'll be getting a GT-only multi-class series. So finally I can enjoy driving the Ford GT without having to concern myself with being divebombed in the corners by the much faster HPD's. Tony Gardner responded one (of many) posts requesting this asking exactly how we would like it implemented.

I was excited about the car until I read the specs! I can barely handle the little skippy with sumfink like 150hp so I doubt I could handle this beast! :scared:

I will still buy the car to promote iracing bringing in anything related to road racing! :)

From reading posts at iRacing forum I believe there are very very few people who run their single screen "correct" 45FOV for the exact reasons you mention above.

speaking of skippy,FOV, and LS....this vid of a nice setup was in the iracing forum:

If you have a android phone or a iphone/ipod get the iracedash app, but if you don't get a sli-m board and get an enclosure from derek speare or get a mounting plate from derek speare.

The suggested FOV for single screen is 45??? Dang. I run mine at like 68 which feels normal to me. But then again, I sit really weird in all of the race cars i've driven.

the suggested FOV is attained by using the suggested FOV calender, it really matters how close your TV/monitor is to where you play. It's supposed to be like your window out into the sim you know.

If you guys aren't playing with the right FOV I feel bad for you, because it is impossible for you see elevation changes as they are supposed to be with a bad FOV. Basically it means you're learning the courses wrong.

My FOV is around 51 with 1 screen that is I think something like 30 inches away from me I think use the in-game FOV calculator, and a tape measure to figure out your optimal FOV.

I'm going to have to see what mine is. i feel like I am about 30 inches away. Maybe even more. I think it would be weird driving that close though.

Bad luck in the couple of races I just had, ran the mustang and it was quite a huge field, got into 3 contacts which i mostly had nothing to do with. With that much contact, my mustang's steering didn't get screwed, was so relieved I could continue the race, after a few more laps I realised i wasn't accelerating as fast as before, finally when nearing the end of the race, my engine blew up! So much for thinking that mustang was bullet proof... Though with the same amount of impact the mustang suffered, the MX5 would've been immediately undrivable.

I really need to stop doing those late night races (11:45 pm). I end up being way to tired the next day.

Wowza, you're running a lot of series.

Why do you need to see your speed? I literally have never once looked at my speed while seriously driving in iRacing. When approaching a corner all I need to know is the braking point and the turn in point, and have situational awareness to make adjustments to either of these two points in case I'm going faster or slower than I typically do (such as in the case of drafting or being stuck behind traffic).

If you're looking at your speed to check how well you're taking corners, many people use the rpm gauge for this.

Also you can use "SHIFT"+"[" to move the screen downwards in order to see the gauges. I suggested this to you already in an earlier post.

Another thing, is it just me or in the SKip, having 45FOV is really a disadvantage. There is two important points regarding a 45 degree FOV. First, 45 degrees is simply the minimum allowable FOV. If the calculator recommends 45 degrees, chances are you're actual required FOV is less than 45 degrees, meaning you're still not using the correct FOV. Second, I can't imagine driving the skip using 45 degrees for the reasons you gave.

To get a decent calculated FOV I moved my TV 29 inches away from my eyes. If you can't move you're screen this close then I would leave the FOV around 65-70 regardless of when the calculator says.

thats so true. i only drive the HPD i just can not brake with the vette. but i am that guy thats always in the top 5 (never the lead ugh). i think what causes this. is the mid fielders are hot shots who have no practice. the leaders have already practiced for an hour+ so they know where the cars are slow and where its easy to pass. and i think the back makers are just people that are just to scared for their own good.

Definitely agreed! The HPD is an easy car to drive and it will make you feel like a superhero, but it will turn you into a superzero in no time! The mid-fielders will try to pass as soon as they catch you and there comes trouble, the backmarkers are too afraid to use the car properly and will loose the momentum they need to get past...
But when it all works is a great series!

Some people are just so impatient, they cant just wait for an actual passing opportunity, they just ram their car into yours ago move on past.

Absolutely ignorant. And with all due respect to members here but its always Americans or Italians.

Yea we know buddy. Can't do 45 for reasons
Mentioned above. I know iracing suggested 45 but I need to see my instruments. Hence why I am looking at some external devices to help.

As for knowing my speed. Not going to argue here. I want to know my speed going into corners because I want more reference points. Having another doesnt hurt and I feel speed is more important as all races will be different.

say you took a BAD exit out of an earlier turn thus carrying less speed into the next one your brake zones will be different but if you use ref points then you will lose further time because your doing it to early.

I know it depends on the FOV calculator and each person's wheel/monitor setup. However, it seems that the calculator always spits out something like 45-50 range for one screen. IIRC the calc game me a 45FOV which I found impossible to use.

edit...D'oh, I see Niexist answered your post!
:dunce:

Someone found that its a six speed manual sequential. So clutch + sequential is a possibility. Apparently the PDK trans is optional too but we probably aren't going to have that.
