I hope they make it an option for hosted sessions and special events, but official series with four cars are going to be even more dilluted than they are now.

Yeah, we probably aren't getting any new cars, but some of the oval cars are getting reworked (which is AWESOME!) and the remaining cars should get the NTM. I'm particularly excited about the Lotus 79 getting the NTM (hope it does) because it's a great series with a bunch of great people running in it.

Yeah, that's the ugly side of the story I guess... Could they be preparing for multy manufacturer classes?...
Anyways, it should be interesting to trhow in the SR8 with the HPD, Ford GT and Caddy for some hosted events!

Me and some buddies are doing a hosted race in the Cadillac at Langley oval if anyone wants to join and have some fun .

I doubt there will ever be Multi-Manufacturer classes, just because one car may be deemed "faster" or "better" just in physics

I think people are sort of hoping the V8 series gets upgraded when they move to Car of the Future specs or whatever it is. Since the cars will be largely identical at that point anyway, iRacing could conceivably make a Ford, Holden and Nissan with identical mechanicals and just a shell change.

Won't happen, but one can dream.

they could do the same with NASCAR too, they may be different motors but they are all the same give or take a few numbers, they are just cars made to NASCAR specs with Manufacturer stickers

Edit: as a matter of fact legends too, there is a sedan chassis, a '34 coupe chassis, and a '40 coupe chassis. Which has the '34 Ford and Chevy coupe, '40 ford and chevy coupe, '37 ford and chevy sedan, and the '34 Ford sedan (aka the Bonnie and Clyde cars  )

And I know for sure sim setup isn't exact because IRL spring changes of 5 pounds make big differences but in iRacing your options are limited to 25 pound spring changes. so basically by reworking the chassis picture and body we could have awesome looking legends races. But that's probably really really low on that list that doesn't exist in writing but is just there in a few peoples heads.

Edit 2: I got some practice for next week's Mustang at Spa and I got loose coming out of the last sweeper before the chicane before the start/finish line and I slid all the way across the grass hoping I could catch it when I hit the chicane..... NOOOOPE! I launched off the arc where the grass and asphalt meet and bounced off the inside wall and sent me in a barrel roll into the ground then I bounced off the outer wall with the front and blew the motor with the rear axle shoved through the door. At least it was only a test session....

Yeah, I mean I really like the perfect equality thing and I wouldn't get rid of that for anything. But where there's excuses to make cars that look different but perform the same I think they should be going for it. Hell, charge seperately for each, I don't care.

And I just had the most awesome Mustang race at Road Atlanta. The track suits the car so well, and I ended up with a solid result in second and 111 championship points. There's two of us fighting for second in Division 4 at the moment, and this puts me in second by a good 30 points. I've given up on getting first because this Scandinavian guy has popped up who is beating me by 50 points with only 7 weeks run. :scared: My only hope for beating him is that his computer breaks next week. Am currently constructing a Scandinavian computer voodoo doll in the hopes of improving my chances. ;)

The Mustang is going great for me this season, I love it.

I think I will buy Spa instead of Road Atlanta, to practice more before the track hits the Mustangs, is it fixed setup? or can I use another one? if so, do you have any setup I can use ? I want to compete :D

I've got 2 setups if you want them, actually one is in the road atlanta mustang thread now from Trace McRae and the other is from me tinkering with a stiffer setup

Thank you, I could try both and tell you the results, how do you want to send them ?

One is in the iracing forums and you can download it from the first page, it's Trace McRae's setup he posted and the other I'll send you a link, modify it to your liking, it's kind of a rough setup nothing too track specific

edit: here's a generic setup I was tinkering with that's a little stiffer. http://www.racesetups.com/view/867
and here's the forum page http://members.iracing.com/jforum/posts/list/2008457.page

edit: setup changes

Thanks dude, downloading the track now and will begin testing different setups tomorrow.

quick question: If I keep repeating the same tt for the same car and track, does my SR keep increasing or there's a limit to it ?

I turned on iRacing today and took the Cadillac to Mosport. The steering of my G27 and the Cadillac where absolutely psychotic. Undriveable. What settings should I be using i nthe Logitech profiler?

Ugh, stupid black flag rules in oval iRacing.

Had a damaged car that I passed as the yellow came out, so it told me to let him by. But apparently instead of the guy resetting or driving to the pits, he decides to leave the race with his truck sitting in the grass. So I get a black flag and so do a couple other people. I'm sure the guy had some emergency or something which is why he crashed and left, so I'm not upset with him, I'm upset with the detection system for black flags.

I know it would be difficult for the game to detect someone doing that, but it sucks for the people who really can't do anything about it except get black flagged.

I made some setup changes (mustang), you can download it from the same link at http://www.racesetups.com/view/867

Entered my first Mustang race of the week, without quali I got stuck behind this guy who was all over the place like he wasn't watching his mirrors but nevertheless went from 19th to 11th and I spun to avoid a guy who had trouble and hit his brakes in the chicane and I made it back up to 13th, I almost had 12th, If I had 1or 2 more laps I could have had it. For some reason we had 23 cars and it didn't go official, but it was some fun tight close racing with some dicing:D

Dam* :D Hard luck dude. I bought Road Atlanta, Spa and Watkins Glen yesterday, I've never tried Road Atlanta before in any game, now it's one of my favs, I don't know why but I fell in love with it in my first lap :). Practiced alone and the best I got was 1:39:7xx I think, maybe a lil faster I don't remember exactly, don't think I'll be able to enter a race before the track ends, but will try this setup today in more practice.

Again I made MAJOR changes (Mustang), it's not even close the same setup and I was 1.5 seconds faster...http://www.racesetups.com/view/867

I was doing a quali run and I was 4 feet before finishing my lap and my internet died and now it says 404 not found.....:banghead::banghead::banghead:....nevermind, I just put down a 1:37.317 quali lap,

edit: I can't get the car to rotate off center

I was trying to sign into Iracing to re-new my subscription and error code 404 pops up???

does anyone have any ideas what is going on?

never mind, I guess I couldn't sign in because I subscription ended. I have to go to their main site I take it.

yep that was it, I said the hell with it and bought 2 years 👍

Happened to me 2 times while in a race, one of them finished last when I rejoined, the other finished 4th lol that was strange.

How do I put the setup ? :D

Do you guys want to know how bad the fixed setups for the IndyCar are?

On Saturday I was practicing in the fixed series for Mid-Ohio and when I was confident with the car I did a race. After that I went to the open series to do another race, and my intention was to use the fixed setup again. So I thought that since I had just used it on the previous race then that's the setup that would be loaded, but actually since it's a different series it loaded the last setup I used there, which was Nico Brandt's Sebring setup.

I realized that only after a few laps have passed during the race, and to my surprise the car was handling much better. I even improved my time by one second.

So there you go, a user setup for a track which is totally different from Mid-Ohio works better than the iRacing setup for it.

Speaking of setups, is there a site or documentation somewhere that i could read to fully understand iracings components and how they relate to the track? I understand the basic functions of tuning, but i want to know the finer details so i can have a clue on how to tune so i can improve on this game.

Other than the video I posted a while bac you can go to the forums and for some of the cars there's pretty nice and well written guides and tutorials on the particular car for that forum.
