Does this mean we get our own CTS-VR for us C+ guys? Or is that still an everyone rookie? I think an open setup CTS-VR would help tremendously! (I didn't check)

That would be awesome! But unfourtunately the answer is no. Caddy is still a rookie series and will use the same tracks as it did on S3...

I occasionally pop in practice sessions, hoping to do a race at Laguna Seca, when I realize that I can't drive the 🤬 car so I just go back to Mustang challenge, Grand Am or the FGT

Very happy to read that! The Caddy is by no means a rookie car! Also looks like the Fun series got the axe! The should make a Proto/GT Fun series!

Got my pro sequential back and a car seat mounted now!! Here's some before and after pictures.

I am going to buy wood filler to fill up those ugly holes by the way. :)

looks nice, how did you managed to get T500 pedals but not the wheel?

on a side note, it'd be cool if they made the apron configuration for bristol and ran legends there like battle of Bristol. I know this is a wreck but my point is that they actually race there (i don't know how often though, I assume annually)
Edit: no matter how hard I try I've never been able to embed a video here:banghead::banghead: just use the link

I bought the pedals from brad pennington (brad broady I don't remember his name) off of iracing for I think 120$ including shipping. I used a t500rs to bodnar cable cable adapter and hooked it up via usb.

Have you ever seen a rookie race that didn't go official?

How often does iRNC go official? Also that's going to be a weird series now with just the MX5 and Solstice. And I can only race GTC four days of the week and only from 6pm one day to 6pm the next, then off for the next 24hrs.

Edit: And Cadillac has full control over the CTS-VR for a year. I think participation has been dropping on that car as well. Maybe if it didn't drive like **** with the fixed setup.

Yeah, that ind of sucks... I was surprised they let the car run for the 120 of Thunder!

Was having a beautiful race in the Mazda for the iRacing Grand Cup until the circuit breaker decided to "interfere". Well there goes the race, and a ton of iRating. :grumpy:

Guess ill try again at 10:15pm.

Just got my CSP V2! Now I'm torn between learning how to set them up or finish a race at spa this week so I get my $4

but it wasn't the fixed setup though right?
I think they should redo the baseline and make it stable but it doesn't have to be fast, maybe something like one of my earlier setups in the GTP caddy cup;)

Hi there, iRacing noob here taking advantage of the Cadillac 6-months free promo.

So far I've done a couple of practices around Okayama Short with the MX-5 cup car (my best lap around so far is 1'03.9xx). Now I know what all the fuss about iRacing was about! I'd like to ask you guys, how much time do you reccomend practicing before jumping to the races or to a Rookie league/tournament? Also, how do iRacing leagues/tournaments work? How do I sign in one or what are the requirements for it?

Thanks in advance and see you on the race track! (My iRacing name, is Alejandro Ramirez Pulido).

Welcome, im a noob myself but ive been on for about a month now. 1'03.9 is a decent starting point, although you will get faster as you learn the car. My best is 1'01.8 so far, its a decent track with a few tricky corners. I would just do enough practice to where you feel comfortable that you can run competitive and stay on the track. Once you get into the races its ALL about staying safe and not wrecking, if you can manage that you will be out of rookie in no time.

Practice until you feel that you will make very few mistakes. it could be a matter of hours or a matter of the week and you don't race til Sunday. with that said don't go into a race focusing too hard on that because for whatever reason you will end up doing whatever you are focusing not to do.
If you can avoid wrecks and stay on track for the most part you have a top 5 finish made.

Better yet do a couple time trials and if you can successfully finish a couple you are ready (SR is affected in Time Trials)

The league/tournament system is going to be fully reworked in less than two weeks. I wouldn't bother learning about the crappy system we have in place right now, the new system should be MUCH better and MUCH easier to use.

Welcome to iRacing!

This!

Welcome to the dark side!
:)
I was told by the veterans to approach racing in two steps; learn the track and learn some racecraft.
First, focus on running a Time Trial (TT) the full distance of the race with no incidents or off-tracks (do not worry about bring your lap times down, that will come with time and experience).
Second, to join a few practice sessions to run with other pilots. This will help you get used to running next to other cars. And any incidents you incur in practice are less than an official race as in TT as Roush mentioned above.

In your first few races focus on finishing the race and not on winning or battling for positions. Do not disconnect if you crash!!! I see a lot of people do this and your SR takes a big hit! IIBC you get instant repairs in your pit for rookie class so it is best to pit, get repaired and continue the race.
:)

I'm not sure but I think the insta-repair was a glitch. Because I think it only worked if you used a Fast tow instead of driving yourself? I'm probably wrong I'd like clarification on this.

First pit stop (damaged or not) in a Rookie or D class race resets the car, whether you towed or drove the car in yourself. Just remember to uncheck fuel and tires or you'll be there for 40 seconds or more.

That's a great reason to use a button box, I flip a switch and can go from xxx liters to nothing, same for tires.

Any link/ video on how to make one or switch the tire fuel option off? I always forget to turn it off when I race and I don't know where it is.

I'd love a button box, but not in my price budget right now. It's hard to try pit under green, and change things.

It's F4 I think, and have to setup the keys you want to toggle on/off. I pretty much use space for on and off, arrows for up/down or I'll have to hunt.
