How about private practice hosted sessions? I can do that right? My friend wants to learn the ropes before he starts racing. Does it count towards safety rating?

How about open practice? Works fine and even if you wreck 10 cars it's all good when you say sorry. And no SR as well.

No SR/iR involved in hosted sessions Mac

Just threw away a 2nd place finish in the SRF series, i almost made the whole race without a mental lapse but it was bound to happen lol. I swear im gonna pull every hair out of my head until i can reach the consistency level im happy with. I really like the close racing this game has to offer though, for the most part people do a lot of give and take out there and it keeps me coming back for more.

Mac what times are you running in the SRF series? I can do a 1'00.3 on a fast lap but im mostly in the 1'00.6 range, at least until i get loose in turn 1 haha. That turn is my achilles heel for limerock.

1:01.6 at the moment. Just embarrassed myself in my latest SRF race though..

Do you set the car up yourself or use the baseline? Ive been able to put together a fairly stable tune that allows for a little oversteer in the corners without getting crazy. The biggest difference for me was the brakes, if you move the bias to the rear (mine is 60.5%) the fronts dont lock up and you can brake deeper into your zones.

I found a setup on the Iracing forum, supposed to be good for a 1:01.4, so it does as advertised I guess :p. I assumed that was decent until I saw people in the 1:00 range and even breaking into the 59s range. I had no problems driving the car (with the exception of my last crap tastic race where I drove like a complete noob) so with a bit more practice I think I can get into the high 1:00s at least. Thanks for the tip 👍

Yeah watch out for the aliens haha, i havent done a 59 yet but i hope i can get it eventually. We should get into a practice session and compare racing lines if you want.

Just qualified for Mustangs, gonna try to get in the 4:15 and 6:15pm races tomorrow. Only put in a mid 2'08 quali, but it'll be enough to be upper-midpack.

Sweet! I'll jump in and join you!

yep an expensive thing. Buy atleast 6 at one time you get a 20% discount.

I am going to test the riley on Infineon today. Its a quite dificult car-track combo. A mistake easy to make. Specially if you don't know the track.

For the SRF folks, there is a really good instructional video for Lime rock. It advises the baseline setup until you are familiar with the car. As it says elsewhere some of the forum setups are asymmetric, which in this car can make it less predictable in left or right turns and more difficult to learn. Anyway, its late for Lime rock this time but still useful:

I moved from the "fast guy" setups to the baseline and improved with practice. Made some small tweaks now but kept it symmetric left to right and it noticeably helped. Best is 1.00.3 and I won my last race even :)

Thanks, I'll take a look 👍

Darn i just ran a 1'00.038 at limerock and once again i was cruising along in 5th with 4th and 3rd in front of me. So what do i do? Spin out in turn 1 naturally with about 7 to go, but at least im getting faster. I see some guys running mid 59's its not fair lol, i wanna race split 2 so i can win for once.

Going to run a race quick then you want to jump into a spec racer practice session Kev?

Another crap result in the SRF.. Yay me :p

You're telling me, i just started the race then the 2 cars in front of me got into it on lap 1 and took out 4-5 others including me. I attempted to bring it to pit lane and continue the race but by then i was already 10th and i started 4th. So i just exited, i literally cant catch a break in this series. However i did manage a 59.989 in practice and was running much more consistently. Maybe later when i calm down ill try again.

Sounds like my last race, people were getting aggressive right after the drop of the green.. the setup I had was uncomfortable in the 3rd corner, so I'm going to switch back to my old setup.

Edit: Honestly they need to work on their safety rating system, I spun twice, never made contact with anyone and some how I lost 0.56 safety points? How?
👎

Just means to me that you lost .11, and the rest was a whole number drop.

Lol! It's meant to keep people from bouncing back and forth in license level...
You guys have to be masochists driving the SRF! That thing and the Skippy are SR and iR deathtraps!

I was in 4th place halfway through the 4:15 race. Messed up my braking point and spun 90 degrees on turn 8 (? slow right hander), had to play catch up. Missed a lot of points. :(

Will be able to make tomorrow's 6:15, hopefully its a good SOF and I can try again.

How'd you finish? Looks like we've all been having a crappy day..

They need to start penalising for jump starts, I believe the rule is you're not allowed to pass until you cross the start/finish line correct? Today in a Mustang race, everyone except one guy respected this, he started mid pack and past us all before we even reached the start line! Afterwards he bragged about his awesome start.. What? Still an awesome race, even though myself and two others who I battled the entire race were held up by a car who just didn't want to give up 4th spot.. It was funny because the three of us kept taking turns trying to get by, using up our tires so he pulled away. So I guess he wins this battle ;)
