It was scanned some years ago, but they had some trouble with customs in Brasil and the equipment along with the data was confiscated. Apparently they where able to get it all back.

Limerock in the Mustang this week, qualified with a 59.459 so pretty happy with that. I don't know what the fast guys are doing though..

Don't take this the wrong way.

But that's slow I think. I can do that time in an mx5

The Mustang is not substantially faster than the MX5 around Lime Rock if I recall, mostly because you're fighting the mass of the Mustang almost all the way around.

Yeah there's a little bit in it. I do high 58's in the MX5 and I managed a high 57 in the mustang before. So i'd say about a second in it.

Is that a fixed setup series? In the Nvidia cup the best ive done with the mx5 around LRP is about 59.8, fixed setup.

Eric.
Check the lap times from our last league race there. Some will be a little slower due to coping with the MX5s.

How about a Mustang? ;)

I was thinking that, I know it isn't alien fast, but I was pretty happy with it.

Open setup, used a setup I found for Mid-Ohio, so probably not the best combined with me needing more practice in the Mustang.

Just did my first race ever at LRP in the Nvidia cup, I managed a best of 1:02, but hey its my first time :)

PS having raced on LRP a LOT in real life, its amazing how dead on this game gets it, almost scary. Like Simraceway was decent, but this is another world.

I see. I thought they had trouble with the customs when coming into the country, thanks for clearing that up.

I hope they can release it soon, and by soon I mean the first half of 2013. :)

So, I take it you decided to give it a shot?

Yes and I'm glad I did. Vs a game like GT5 this is just plain more fun because the car behaves wayyy more realistically and things I knew about the real life track translated directly into the game. Also the realism of the tracks is more fun as well. Thanks again for the advice, at the very least I think I'm just going to have a good time playing it.

I thought Interlagos was still to be scanned, that's great news.

According to people at iRacing the scanning group the Brazilian customs did not allow them to get their laser scanners into the country and the data came from another company that laser scanned the track.

I still run in a GT5 league and now to me, the thing that stands out is that GT5 tracks have no surface details. Obviously there are lots of other differences but the lack of surface feel makes it feel like driving on sticky glass.

I voted for the McLaren too. I think it would have made more sense to see the McLaren so we can get an idea of how close it is to being released (should be next season hopefully).

Can't wait for that mp4
Oh man! Same here! The Mp4 and Ford GT should run very very similar lap times and a bit of weight on the McLaren should get them pretty even and would make for an awesome LM league!

Don't take this the wrong way.

Don't get this the wrong way, but everyone can do that in the MX5 with practice, the Mustang on Limerock is a whole different animal! 59s there are quite competitive times, it may not be the fastest time but it can get you to the front with good racecraft.

The tracks in GT5 seem to be dumbed down when compared to iRacing's laser scans, most of the tracks on iRacing are much tighter than they are on GT5 and like you said you can really feel every detail on the tracks surface. Guess it's that way for the pad users.

2 seconds is a big difference in racing. :)

But that's your Mad. Us mortals have no chance doing that.

I agree with most of what you said except race craft. Don't make the issue larger than it is Jav. Your a better driver than I am and if your going to use something like "race craft" then its a pretty low dig. Can you measure race craft and how much its going to take off your time? Please tell me :)

All we have is times to compare.

Now secondly, it was never a dig or to make me look good regarding my comment to Mac K.

We can all be merry and simply say “wow awesome lap times!” and move out, but that’s not going to make us better drivers right? If Mad can do 57 and he was doing 59, then there is room to improve, we’re all here because we race, we want to win, and I want to push people to be the very best. So I stand by my comments to Mac K, I want him to be faster.

Also your forgetting, on such a short track, in percentage terms, 2 seconds is a lot considering the whole lap is less than a minute.

So Mac, push yourself, you can do it!

I think once us "noobs" learn the tracks more and get a handle on tuning, the times will start to drop. It took me a good year on GT5 before i was any good, so im not stressing about it really. Im really looking forward to a long career on this game, i sold my PS3 because of it so you can tell my commitment level. Hopefully next week ill be back driving full time and start buying some DLC!

Wow.....

I don't think Swiftwilly will ever be able to make a post about iRacing without getting completely riled up for no reason whatsoever.

Some people never learn I guess.

I don't agree with how he gets angry as well but hey, we all have our own personalities. Maybe he is actually a nice guy in real life and just uses the internet to get his anger out or something. You never know where he's coming from.

I don't think he was riled up, I'll admit I read his post and thought it was a bit harsh at first, but he's right and constructive criticism is good.

Thats my excuse for now :p I'm really enjoying Iracing, the more I race on it, the more I can stay consistent, run with faster people, and run fast laps. I love a good challenge.
