Yep I agree with this completely. Although, I often find that when I don't worry too much about my iRating or SR I end up having near perfect or perfect drives. Then, when I do care, I get wrecked or make a mistake. So I think not worrying about it is just a good idea in general. :)

I used to care, and this man b_tch slapped some sence into me from across the Pacific! Lol! Now I enjoy iRacing a lot more!

My last races went pretty decent on Jefferson course, racing against the top drivers of the championship.

The only thing i want to know is when i am allowed to report someone?

there are a lot of drivers who ignore the blue flags.

First off you should understand what the blue flag means in iRacing.
Rule Book
6.5. Blue Flag (blue with diagonal yellow stripe) – Indicates faster cars are approaching. This
flag is informational only. In all cases, it is the responsibility of the faster car to safely
overtake the slower car. It is the responsibility of the slower car to maintain a consistent
line. It is strongly recommended that a slower car being lapped makes every reasonable
effort to facilitate a safe pass.

So according to the rule book a slower driver does not have to move out of the way for you, it is up to you as the faster driver to safely pass the slower driver. If you use a aggressive tactic to pass him he could protest you.

He doesn't have to, but moving over for cars lapping you is very sportsmen like, if you're going to go a lap down, what do you honestly have to gain fighting faster cars? It's only going to make you drive over cautious and them impatient, and I don't think I need to explain what that could lead to..

Rules or not, on blue flags i always let the faster car overtake me.

When i get lapped i am either slow or made a mistake. So there is no need to ruin someone else's race too. You lose time by defending anyways and it leads to incidents for sure, specially on narrow tracks.

To be honest the blue flag rules in Iracing could be writed better.

i do agree with maxitsu on the blue flag part.. the person just has to get out of the way & not start racing the leader..

just today i was leading in the grand am premier but some guy in the mustang decided to completely block me in corner 2 & 3 on lime rock wich caused the 2nd person to crash on my rear & almost ended my race.. and 2nd time again th emustang did it too.. hitting my side making me spin on the hill & some other riley hit me at full speed wich caused me to get out of the race.. annoying when you know u got the race in ur pocket and some retarded person ruins ur race.. they just have to read the rules or just dont race! got -0.20 sr & - 80 iRating!!!

Well when racing multiclass races the faster car should go around. Problems with the Mustang drivers is that they sometimes can't keep their line because they want to "help" Messes up everything. I even hear DP drivers command Mustang drivers around.. They should read the rules also.

But when lapping slower drivers in your own class people should actually just slow down to let you have the pass for free in my honest opinion. #17 position car should not have the opportunity to ruin #1-#16 race if them come up behind him.

When it comes to Mustang drivers I would prefer is everyone just stayed on their line as the rules say. And everyone in the DP should go around them. They have a race of their own and I totally respect that. But DP drivers that doesn't respect it makes them unsure of them self and some of them moves unpredictable and some claim their line like it was done out of anger.

So if a Mustang driver where infront of you at turn in it was his corner and you should have to wait until you could go. If you are on his side before turn in you can share the corner witch is easy for the DP drivers. But being held up by Mustangs is part of mulitclass racing.

The blue flag is the way it is because you can't really have an automated penalty. I'm almost never driving in the faster class, but I don't remember the last time I've had a lapped car really hold me up.

When im in the vette or fgt in the proto series I always stay on my racing line and never move out of the way, because when im running the dp thats what I like when the mustangs do the same, makes everything predictable. I'm not sure if thats what the majority of racers do but I've never had any issues.

just today i was leading in the grand am premier

I saw one of the starts in the premier grand am. I was watching on blimp when i saw someone making a "jump start". It was like uhm.. ok thats someone i know :p

The speed diffrence between DP's and Mustangs is very insane and completely diffrent to the solstice and the MX5.
The way of lapping is very diffrent between those classes.

The Solstice and Miata run very similar lap times so that would explain why :p

Question about league hosts. When you schedule a race, does the race go on whether or not the league host is present?

had a great race at lime rock in grand am premier. from 9th to 5th in the start at the straight on 1st corner.. spun since my tires were still not warm to handle the speed.. :( but felt back to 12/13th place. made my way back up to 4th & was cathing the 3rd place guy but unfortunately a litle hessitante mistake caused me to go pit & get 4/5 min repaires.. got back to 9th but still managed to run a minimum mistake race wich ended me in 7th.. 3rd was definately possible but hoefully in couple mins it will happen:)

I think holding the line when you're being lapped is perfectly fine, you shouldn't be expected to just bow down, better for you to be predictable.

That said, I've had folks I'm lapping that I got a run on going into a turn, completely dirty chop me and nearly take us both out, and for what? I'm lapping you, you aren't going to gain a thing other than to piss me off and potentially ruin both of our races.

I've also had people come up behind me and send me a message that says something to the effect of "move the f out of my way" when all I am doing is holding my line (and they just got there not like they've been there a while). Even better is when I'm like mid turn where it would be impossible. For them I'd love to brake check them or put them into a wall, but of course that would do nobody any good.

Its all just a bit of racing etiquette which seems lost on some. If someone is lapping you on an inside pass, brake a bit harder and let them by. Hold your line. And when you're lapping someone stay calm, wait for a safe spot and make a safe clear pass. This isn't the F1 world championship, we're all just here to have a good time.

If a faster car approaches me I don't fight him as I would with someone on the same lap. I have heard from many racers that they just want you to stay predictable and they will get around you. Just as the rule states, when a faster car approaches and wants to pass the slower car, they should facilitate the pass.

From my experience (limited as it may be), the golden rule is "Hold Your Line". Let the faster driver / class of car initiate the pass. What you don't want to be doing is weaving all over the track, trying to get out of the way!

Last week I achieved my personal S3 goal of reaching a road iRating of 2500. Let's see if I can keep it above that now.

Very well done! I've been stuck around the 2750 range for some time now. I think I finally got mine to 2800 right now but, it is really difficult to break 3000.

Seriously considering getting Daytona, Oulton Park, and Road Atlanta to finish off my Mustang season, and then the Ford GT to run a race or two this season in GT Challenge and maybe even Petit in October, and then run it full time next season. Only problem is it'll cost me about $50.. I know I sound cheap :p I hate making decisions like this...

You will probably end up buying them in the future. What difference does it make? Just buy them now. That is the way I see them lol.

While I'm waiting for my seat to come I'm going to repaint my entire rig, right now its almost done sanding, also working on a new table top that's a bit larger.

It looks like there's a lot of stain leftover, but it's in very deep and I you probably won't see any of it once I get it painted black.

Sorry to ask a question that always gets asked, but how do you think this pc could run iRacing;
I5 2500k
Sapphire 7850 OC edition
8G D-Skill ram
600w psu

Thanks

That would run max on single screen and pretty close to max on triple screens.

It I'm slow enough to have leaders on me, I normally hold my line unless I see them coming up fast. I will move over on straights to allow the pass without being ran all over sometimes.

Screw it, I'll go for it :p

I purchased the 3,6 or 9 cars and tracks at a time. Remember 3 gets you 10% off and it goes up for 6 and 9. Give it a year or so and you will own it all, if you so choose too. :)
