Way to go Shinya :) Good luck and most of all "have fun"

GTC on Watkins Glen is amazing, I've finally started running competitive times with the leaders in the top split. I was losing 2-3 seconds just in turn 2 in the boot alone, now that I'm competitive its tons of fun. Sadly I spun it in the bus stop half way through my last race and was introduced to a wall.. Oh well. I'll be back ;)

I think Michimi-san (Kamuifanboy) just finished 8th, I might be wrong though, there was an off during the last lap by the 2nd place car.

Here he is fighting for position! (#9)

Watkins is awesome in anything!! Too bad my pedals decided to brake yet again...

I've been to the real track 3 times, Iracing has it bang on. The only thing they don't have is the new grand stand in Turn 1, its dare I say perfect.

Oh snap, the GTC is @ Watkins? The one download i actually have, ill def be trying this one out before the schedule turns over!

edit: joined the 12:15est race and placed 7th overall, 1st in class with the Solstice. Started 15th and had pole in my class with a 2:16.0. I got passed on the first lap while i was waiting for mx5 traffic to clear, then while i was flagging him down he spun out coming out of the boot. The rest was just driving to the finish.

Is anyone racing on the 500 today?

Not me. I do right much oval racing but I hate superspeedways. Had a talladega race in my league this past week and it's all I can take. I always get caught up in a "big one" so I only race them when I have to like for league points.

It makes sense! It can be a crap shoot and noticed two things, one I need to tighten my steering up for it (which I'm not sure how on DFGT) and people can't hold their line in a corner on inside worth dog mess.

I'm debating mainly because I don't get to race alot of events, and this one can be fun. I need to find a setup though considering I don't think I'll do good with basic.

Can you play with the steering ratio in game settings ?

I'm keen for the 500 but it starts at 1am here , I'm a little hesitant already !. That and from all the practice sessions I've been in , I can almost guarantee getting caught up in a big mess at some stage. Still , I don't have a lot of SR or iRating to lose so how bad could it be ? If I race for just an hour , (or until that inevitable wreck) will it hit me hard on ratings ?

Edit: I tried a shared setting but I find the baseline easier to drive.

Yeah I can play with ingame settings, and actually it's not terrible before.

One of the lobbies I was in had someone sharing a setup that wasn't bad so I am going with that. Qualified with 50.423 or something like that and seems to do fine for me.

Was hitting 2:15s in the Solstice in practice, nice to know I can run competitive times close to you :p

As you guys may recall I'm locked in a tight battle with someone in the rookie division for the championship in the Inracing News Challenge, I've had a win in 1250 SOF race, and a win in a 1650 SOF race this week on Summit Point. He has run one race and finished 3rd in a 1700 SOF race and now is 33 points ahead of me, am I missing something here or does this maybe contribute to my earlier race results or something like that?

The SOF (strength of field) alters the number of points you gain. The championship points are an average of your results for the week, so:

1 very good result (e.g. 3rd) in a high SOF race > multiple wins in low SOF races.

If you're trying to race for the championship, its best to work out when the highest SOF races tend to happen during the week and try and enter only that race and score high. Entering multiple races hurts your points.

So basically, his 3rd place in a 1700 SOF race will give him more points than the average of your 2 race wins which were in lower SOF races (particularly the 1250 race). If you had only won the one 1650 race you would have more points than him/closer on points (depends how many he got for the 3rd place).

So the field size does not matter for championship points?

So the same solstice car gets more champion points in race 1. Even if he finished last.

Clearly the second race have a bigger grid and could be harder.

I don't particularly agree with that, but whatever. Should I run one more and "risk" it or just stay where I am? I have a rant, I'm sure anyone who runs the GTC has experienced this at least once before...

The VW Jetta is a good 2-3 seconds a lap faster than the MX-5 and the Solstice as you all know. I was just in a race, driving the MX-5. A whole bunch of Jettas didn't qualify for whatever reason and started behind those who did. They came barging through the field and were driving way to aggressively for my liking, with each other and with other classes. Me being in a slower class car I gave two of them the line into the bus stop (Chicane), entering the boot one dive bombs the other, spinning both of them out and me with no where to go clips one of them, this follows by a chain reaction of me having a broken front suspension. In my attempt to pull off the track, I get nailed by two more Jettas, which then triggers two MX-5s to hit each other. Keep in mind we weren't even through the first lap yet. I propose that all Jettas should start ahead of the MX-5s and Solstice no matter what, and have the MX-5s and Solstice continue to grid the way they have been. I understand multi-class racing involves several classes sharing the track, but faster classes shouldn't be starting behind slower classes, simple as that.

I usualy stop race when the champ points matches my skill, or i have must a big need to drive races like now.

I did a first race in that touring leaugue, its intresting whit so many diffrent cars. And it looks more fun compared to the iracingnews challenge. Only i like the roadster more.

I had no qually or pactise in the car or haven't been on that layout in my life still was running in 5th when taken out in the bustop.

Right on, i knew it was good for 15's if driven correctly. I just dont have enough practice yet, but thats a good time for sure. Hopefully i can tweek some things and get it down to that number. Ive seen the mx5's running 14's though, they brake and corner so much better, i feel like im blocking almost.

^ I think I can break into the 14s in the MX-5, one guy was running 12s!

His finish replaced a poor score on a previous week, keep in mind we are on the 10th week of the season and solid finishes will now replace poor scores from previous weeks.

Nice run Kevin, I was held up by some Solstices, got taken out in the bus stop by one, not sure whose fault it was..

So that was you off to the right that got spun? That sucks, i got into it with another Solstice and got spun as well. I started dead last and finished 14th overall out of 18 so technically i had a decent race lol. Broke into the 15's for the first time 👍

Yes it was, any chance the other Solstice was red? :p
