I'll be running the Mustang this week in Grand-Am, GTP takeover anyone?

Ill be right with you, i think the next 2 weeks i have the tracks to run that series. I will be focusing on grand am and the mustang series for this season for sure, and hopefully some new tracks.

To spot, you'll need to find the person you're wanting to spot (either by looking up the driver name, going to your friends list, or in the list of your online friends in the bar at the bottom of the website. If the session isn't open yet, it looks like you still only get the "race now" option, so wait until it has started and then you'll have the choices for watching or spotting.

As a spotter, you only have communication with the driver you are spotting for, and any other of his/her spotters. You can also use a custom channel to talk to whoever. As a spotter, you'll be on the @TEAM channel with your driver and any other of his spotters. You don't get access to @DRIVERS.

Swift, yes. Only one will count towards championship points. SR and iR always in effect.

Eric.
Time change is at 00:00GMT Tuesday morning, whatever that is for you. Ends up being Monday night in the states.

Ok thanks, should be Tuesday morning for me, and it's a public holiday :)

Damn, I missed the race by 2 minutes because I was eating :D.

Good news is it looks like I am in the running for Division 6 Championship, I'm currently first out of 2 entries in the division :D.

Yay, I'm not the only one! Granted, different series, but... Close enough.

Edit: Leading the Division Season, and the Division Season Time Trial. :) Division 6, Jetta, Grand Touring Cup.

Is anyone else racing in the race at The Rock next Saturday?

It actually got moved to Dec. 1st. They are having a practice race still next weekend but the main race is going to be on Dec. 1st. I was planning on running it but won't be able to now with the date change. I'll still probably try and do the practice race next weekend though.

just a heads up. When you join as a spotter you will see a green button saying start spotting. If you press this you kill off the in sim spotter. So if you aren't ready to take on that responsibility, just don't press that key ;)

Also could be smart to set a spotter password so no random guy can join in and kill your spotter. Its says name joined as a spotter and if I did it to you. You could report me, but that would be to late for you.

Now: Leave me alone, I know what I'm doing!! (Kimi Räikkönen)

^ Haha

I forget, does Grand-Am run every day? Or only select days like GT Challenge does.

I think it is every other day (every 2 days).

And Erik when you were spotting for me saying just look after the tyres etc... I should have said ' Yes yes yes yes I know, no need to keep reminding me every time' - Kimi Raikkonen :)

I am gonna put that in my profile's favorite quote. I almost hit the floor when he said that.

Haha same here, and when Raikkonen and Vettel were swearing on the podium on live tv :D.

I also got the quote wrong but I wrote it correct in my signature. :)

Glad they changed it somewhat. I'll
race both!

Just had my second ever Grand Am Race, came fourth but had a great battle with third and just couldn't find my way past even though I had considerably faster lap times. In fact I had the second fastest lap of the race second only to the insanely quick Kiddhy Engström.

My SR has now shot up from 2.40 to 2.79. :)

Anyway I just had a question, does anybody know what the bare minimum amount of fuel is that you can use and still finish at Barber?

Yup, done that, still nothing. If someone is spotting for me, obviously they need a mic, but do I need one as well to be able to hear them?

Yeah, already did this after my teammate was "spotting" for me during practice. I definitely don't want any friends randomly popping in using the spotter option when they're really just going to watch. I quite like my AI spotter.

Mac: It just worked when my friend joined and spotted for me. He was automatically communicating via @TEAM (the only way he can, short of custom channels).

Must be a mic issue then, thanks for your help 👍

Finally got the mic working, is there a way to mute everyone else except the person spotting for me? I could hear everyone else no matter what channel I tried.

Jumped into a practice session for the Grand Am series just now, i was the only Mustang though. Needless to say i felt a little outnumbered lol, constantly zoom, zoom, zoom past me. But one guy, and i dont know if anyone knows him, james cather. He just slams into the back of me on purpose and tells me to go find another room that isnt full of DP's. Other DP drivers were telling him to shut up, but he was really being a jerk about it. Anyway it was fun and such a nice break from doing redundant Mazda races over and over again. Ive got some things to learn about sharing the track with those DP's, i never can tell what line they will run. I tried to just stick to my line, but even a pro driver ran through me coming out of a turn.

I find sticking to my line but checking my mirrors a few times before apexing helps, never been hit yet knock on wood. As for GTC tonight, that's another story.. :p

Does anyone have an opinion / review of the Cadillac series?
Laguna's up this week and I'm really getting into it but it could be a while before I jump into a race. Quali cost me -.10 and I'm hardly safe through the corkscrew lap after lap.

That is the point..

@team will have priority over @drivers

If you don't want to hear communications from other drivers (which I think is a bad decision), you can unscan @drivers by typing @scan drivers

Basically, stick to your line. Definitely don't change sides on a straight. In a race it looks like the safe way is to possibly hold the very inside or very outside line. Like I said earlier, we can get around you on pretty much any line, but not if you take the usual outside-inside-outside. In any other multi class I'd say not to worry about it, but the Mustangs are a serious hold up and you put yourself at risk of being wrecked if you do end up making a DP slow down too much.

I have to mute every channel, it seems the radio got higher priorities than my engine sound. I don't like that. And during a race all I hear is Sorry anyway. I don't care if their sorry if they ruin my race. Sorry doesn't help me at all.

Nice idea this radio thing, but let me give you an example.

In a race you get 2-3 guys chat away or argue. In the old build I could just mute the chat and that's it. But today I have a friend spotting for me so I can't mute it. Is it the meaning then to pull over and type into the chat: unscan @drivers and then start driving again?

I might start to do it before the race of course, as useful information over the @drivers channel isn't happening all that often.

Good thing my spotters know about teamspeak. Those Radio channels are a nice gimmick, but I need to be able to have more option to it. Mute one channel etc and I have to do it with a press of a key. Typing while racing... I know they made touch racing available, but I still drive with a wheel. I have no time to type during races.. if I want to stay safe and fast.

I pick and choose Caddy races , I only do them for fun and only if its at a track that I feel safe and consistent on. In your position , I'd either practice until I felt that doing a race was going to be safe and enjoyable for myself and those around me ..... or forget it. Being open to rookie and upwards , you tend to get all skill levels in one race. Some guys have got it sorted while others struggle and it can inevitably get a bit messy in the first few laps.

Having said that , Mosport and the Caddy is a match made in heaven. Don't miss that week ! 👍

I haven't checked myself but does the 'mute driver' button still work with the new radio setup. That worked well when guys thought a race was actually a chat session.

Assign a button to mute an individual driver. This feature has existed for over a year. You can also assign buttons to adjust chat volume...I don't know how you cannot have voice chat in something like Grand Am. Lots of communication from the slower class letting you know that they see you and are staying wide, etc.

This would also be a great use for a button box and Glovepie or whatever people used to use to have keys that entered "sorry" or whatever. Instead you can have one for a few radio commands. "@scan drivers" and so forth. Also, I believe its simply that command to scan OR unscan. Not "@unscan drivers". Check it before the race using @list to see which works for sure.
