Congrats to Mr. Down for having an awesome battle to the finish for the win. Wish I could drive as fast as some of the near aliens or aliens lol.

Thanks mate. Yeah was awesome fun racing with friends. We worked together really well to build a gap and then decided when to start racing. Then it was absolutely on, but it's awesome having trust in the guys you're racing against. I know when racing Sharman and Hamstead that they won't take me out to get a move done or to get a win.

Kev any advice for the Vette at Daytona? I was just in a practice session and another Vette was bumping into the Mclarens on the oval part of the course.. pretty funny to watch.

Kamuifanboy, if the guy was blocking pretty bad you should probably show that too, because it's against sporting code to block

Maybe blocking isn't the correct word to use. I know that I saw him impeed the other guys attempt to pass by moving over on him. The other times were him just using a protective line. I don't think that you can really give a penalty to a guy for protecting his line. That's more of an annoyance and you know the guy is a bit strange when he is doing that for 11th position on the 3rd lap of the race.

Again, I just wanted to know if his actions were protestable or not. I'm not at all mad. I could care less what happened on track. S^!t happens. What I'm more upset about is the lack of apology from the driver.

Anyone running Grand-Am tonight? It needs all the help it can get to make it go official..

Must resist...

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I am loving the Mustang at Mid-Ohio.
Car I am slow in + Track I struggle at = My most competetive week in the mustang, strangely. My fast lap is a 1:37.6xx, and I can consistently run in the 1:38s during the race. This car and track seem made to be together, the Mustang shows no signs of it's usual sluggish behavior here. I got a 5th place, in the top split, with only 2 incident points. Maybe I was a bit harsh with my earlier rant about the Mustang...

Yeah, the pedal on the right makes you go fast :dopey:

As far as setup goes im basically running the baseline, but i adjusted the caster and camber a bit to suit my driving style. Im still learning the car myself and ive got a lot to learn. You really cant nail the gas in this car until the steering wheel is almost straight ahead.

If you can left foot brake you should, that's what the conversation was in a practice session yesterday was, it's extremely easy to shift up and down w/o the clutch, just rev matching in the vette

And the falcon-gp setups are really nice, I just downloaded the one with the most downloads for each track

Well, 🤬 that was an interesting "Christmas gift" to myself. I had some money left over from Christmas shopping, so I bought a bunch of American road courses, Star Mazda, Mustang, and Riley DP.

You didn't buy the McLaren? Are you crazy?! LOL!

Nah. My interests are in touring cars, Rolex, and Star Mazda. I could care less about some ridiculous, overpriced (in real life) European F1 car with a monoshell... Nawh, too fancy.

I prefer a little bumping (BTCC,) a little strategy (Rolex,) and a little bit of car control (Star Mazda.) Put that together, and you have a very awesome mix. Then, throw in Aussie V8 Supercars, and you've got heaven.

Anyone else having problems to load event results or even own profile with all the stats at iRacing? Can't access them for 2 days now...

F1 car? We don't have the McLaren F1 car in iRacing. This is the one I am referring to:

It shares the same chassis as the road car, along with the same engine, but detuned for endurance racing. In the series it races in, they are always bumping each other. Granted it's not BTCC (British Touring Constantly Crashing) but they are far from "F1" like in the way they race. Also, if you want to talk about car control, the McLaren is like driving a surgeon's scalpel.

Don't get me wrong, not trying to convince you to buy it, simply saying don't knock it before you try it :)

Is a GT car really all that different from a Touring Car? Just curious. I always sort of classified them as the same thing.

GT cars tend to have large spoilers, splitters and diffusers and generate a fair bit of downforce. If they take damage to the splitter or lose other bits of aero, they lose quite a bit of performance and generally they can't always race close to each due to their reliance on aero.
GT cars tend to be quite a lot different in appearance and performance than their road variants.

Whereas touring cars have minimal aero and can take quite a bit of damage without losing much in performance. Touring cars are (or used to be) quite close in appearance and performance to road cars.

Its this difference that puts me off today's DTM because its effectively a GT series now...but with only 3 different makes and some fairly dull racing at times.

Also, most touring car series (such as BTCC) tend to run shorter tracks and shorter race distances. GT series tend to run 1 hour or more race distances on large tracks. Basically touring cars are more like national-sprint type races and GT are more like international-endurance type races.

I was about to mention DTM lol. I could have sworn that it's considered a Touring Car series, and they are putting out some serious downforce. Close if not more than Super GT cars over here in Japan put out.

Some people still do, but the fact they are linking up with SuperGT says it all to me....

WTCC and BTCC are touring car series. DTM and SuperGT are GT series.
I don't know where to classify V8 Supercars. Its kind of in the middle.

I'm still looking forward to the BTCC Civic and 5! UK tracks. They can't come soon enough, although Interlagos and Montreal will definitely keep me going during the long wait!

Turn 1 at Montreal and Interlagos will be troublesome for the start of races I feel lol.

Got to ask. Since you're from Manchester, are you Red or Blue?

Speaking of troublesome, I can't begin to think of all the SR that is going to suffer when the Civic comes out, my guess will be that people will be trying to act like a BTCC driver and just begin spinning and bumping other drivers on purpose

Maybe they can scale the 4x contacts down to 2x or even 1x. Or just move the threshold for 4x's way up. They'll also have to mess with the damage model too, since right now fairly minimal contact gives us wheel damage.

Just had a great drive,

Started 10th out of 11 in a MX5 race. 1st corner, some novice goes up my inside very late, locks up and practically T-bones me. I had bad wheel damage, yet drove the car through the field to finish 4 seconds off of the leader in 2nd.

Was gaining a couple of tenths per lap on the leader too. :)

Well in a way I think they'll keep it the same to try and prevent people from having contact on purpose, if they reduce anything (penalty or damage) it will encourage people to have contact.

Is that yours? That's one killer livery 👍

Yeah, but then Suzuka, Laguna Seca, Brands Hatch, Lime Rock, etc all have tricky first lap-first corners and generally people get through ok if they're careful.

I think really people should be wary about pulling certain overtakes at Interlagos and Montreal - the F1 drivers might make it look easy but its no mean feat to pull off an overtake around the outside into turn 1/2 at Montreal or on the steep, cambered turn 1 at Interlagos. I'm sure people will try those moves though (me included :p).

And I'm a red. Technically they are my most local team anyway as I only live down the road from Old Trafford and very close to both training grounds. Otherwise I'd be supporting Altrincham. :D

I'll be in Grand-Am in about a half hour if you guys want to take a break from the Mclaren...
