I think I won my 2nd race in it at Summit Point.

Once you realize "hey, this car's a bit... odd, and it doesn't handle like the others," I don't think it's that bad. The Mustang handles really nicely after you learn to control it. Like the McLaren, too. The throttle is a killswitch, but the rest is well-sorted technology.

So, wait, the GT3 McLaren is faster than the GT2 Ford at Zandvoort? :nervous:

Something's not right.

Why? GT3 cars are faster than GT2/GT-E cars in real life. By about the same ammount or a bit more than we are seeing on iRacing. Already the Ford GT is dead on in lap times with the real life 2012 ALMS GT-E lap times, so perhaps the 12C will gain a bit more as it evolves...

Mustang at Road Atlanta this week. Can't wait!

Just threw down half a dozen test laps. 1:37.5 was my best. Not sure how that'll stack up, but it felt good.

The V8 Supercar Series in my opinion is the second most competitive series on the road side. A Class Grand Prix is the most, V8 second. DWC and Pro obviously are ahead of those 2. The problem is with that though, almost everyone practices all week long for 1 main broadcasted SOF race (Tonight 9:45pm AEDT GMT +11). So therefore, barely and races go official. There are few smaller "America's" races and smaller Aussie SOF races on our sunday nights but really, less than 10 would go official weekly.

The ANZ Motorsport setups are a good starting point for newcomers, but are tuned with very little time and effort. They also don't have a lot of front end point so they're not fast. I can almost gurantee that's not what their top drivers are using in that team, but sure, it is a good starting point for newcomers.

Yeah, I'm using the setup you shared with a small brake bias adjustment. I'm still at work when the Americas group races, so I'll have to stay up late and do the Australian races instead. Unfortunately that will be at 00:45 my time, so ill be a little tired for work tomorrow. :P

Check last season's quali times? Might give you a better idea...

 I was just running that... Make sure you put at least MORE than 15 litres in to your Falcon in Time Trial. I couldn't even make five laps without pitting. :(

Oh my god I'm really happy now. I have that track :D missed Summit Point this time round and lack of Mustang saddened me..

The Lotus really is a fun car.. I noticed you even steer with the throttle as much as the wheel due to powersliding.. :)

Mustang at Road Atlanta is fun, had 2 bad races there last season, was punted off within the first 3 laps both times..

The top 10 alien qualifying times from last season were in the 1:34's (even one 1:33.9!), but I think 1:35's is a good time to shoot for. I'm quite happy with my 1:37 since I wasn't in qualifying trim.

Speaking of which, I've never changed me setup for qualifying versus the race. Never even used a lighter fuel load. Do you guys change things up to qualify?

Good question, I was wondering the same thing. The race I did this weekend, at Oulton with no chicanes, the guys were discussing their fuel load on the grid. And here I thought that the game defaulted to full tanks for race start... Learning, always learning!

That is awesome you find the Lotus fun! I think it is a wonderful car, but I am such a slow pilot I get nowhere near the edge when on the track with this Lotus. I have only run a couple of races and hosted events with the Lotus pilots, but they were hands down the most helpful group I have encountered.

Are you looking forward to the Lotus 49?

Looks like ill be busy this week with the Mustang and GT series. Its about time too, i miss driving in both series. This past week i havent done a single race really, i wanted to do the V8 series but i wasnt confident in my times or ability to keep that car on the track. Thats gonna be a work in progress for sure.

I'll definitely be doing some Mosport this week! Need to get my SR up and collect all the iR I can to stay in D2 and fight for that championship next season!!

What's the best way to stay in D4? I like being able to be competitive.

Having fun and drive clean and whit respect comes to mind... That go's for all Licenses. Atleast for me. Being competitive for me seems to be the last thing i care about.
for some people is competitive the same as having fun, not for me. I would lie if i say i do not rather win instead ending on the back. But i like clean races. This week i made a contact whit the raceleader it was my fault, even that doesn't happen very often lately. Even though i won the race i felt bad and didn't had fun at all.

My first paint :D

Took me... 15 minutes, I'm still trying to figure the program out!

Lol! I think you're past D4 already! Don't worry about it Mac, you'll do fine on D3 there's not that much difference! When you get to D1 there's when it gets real tough! Right now what you wanna do is rack up your iRating so you can start S1 with a good chance of getting into the higher splits and higher SOF races wich in turn will yield the most points.

Looking good! I've always liked that color combo!

The carbon is much more noticeable in the game. It looks pretty good, I need a better logo though!

Try googling nike logo vector which should lead you to a website called seeklogo and it gives you the logo in vector .EPS format which I know PSE works with but I don't know about gimp or whatever you use but it's worth a try

Alright, I'll give it a go tomorrow. That will help a bunch!

Yes. I felt a bit of a difference on a lighter fuel load. But, I tend to run with next to no downforce in quali, and a stiffer setup, since I don't care as much about consistency and tire wear.

I don't know how they're so fast. They must be aliens. Good logic. I understand that their lap times are possible, I just don't have the time to practice. :(

That quality in that time? Darn MX-5 must be easy to paint. The Jetta was confusingly poorly laid out.

I thought that after I got bumped to D3 last season. It's not as bad as you think. Anything except D1 you're pretty much in with a shot if you just do decently in all the races.

You might have compared your points to what the guys are getting in higher divisions, but remember that with a higher iRating yourself now you'll be getting into higher splits and getting more points.

Challenge yourself to excel!

P.S. If you really wanna drop iRating. Just enter a race and withdraw as soon as it starts. You'll be classified last and lose a lot of iRating. Do it as often as you like. Sort of sucks, but people can do whatever find fun. I end up with more championship points from a mid-pack finish in a high split than I do winning a low split, so it's no skin off my nose.

Also, when is the Roar Before the 2.4 practice coming? I don't see it, yet, under the "Race Now" button display thingy. Excuse my awesome knowledge of English vocabulary. :dunce:

My irating is at 1764 right now, I don't want to drop it or anything, if it moves me up then so be it.

I ran the Mustang Challenge last night and had a blast. Started 16th, finished 11th. No contact or major offs. Ended up with 2 inc from dropping tires. I think I had enough speed to finish a couple spots higher, but this one guy held me up forever. He was doing everything he could to keep me behind him. At first it was exciting, but it got old after 7 or 8 laps. I kept pressure on him and he finally took himself out at the bottom of the esses.

I decided to try a Legends race after that (still trying to get out of rookie oval). It was my first time driving it. I put in about 10 minutes of practice and felt pretty good so hopped in the race. It was quite fun as well. I finished 4th with 0 inc. Maybe I just got lucky, but it seemed a lot more civilized than the street stock races. :)

Just so you guys are aware it's against the sporting code to deliberately drop your irating by entering races and quitting. You could be protested for it.

Anyone ever just have their car randomly spin out? I was on Limerock in the Solstice today, I took corner 3 no different than I had before, and just I was starting to turn in the car spun out.. I didn't brake any later, go any faster or slower, turn in to fast or anything like that.. it was weird.

What's the World Cup if iRacing and how come nobody's doing it?

Ermm.... I don't believe iRacing has the time or patience to deal with all the protests of people deliberately dropping there iRating, because lets face it, there is a lot of them.

The world cup races are special events that they do few times a year. There probably isn't any races showing up yet because they normally just have 2 different times slots per race which are normally on the weekends.

I didn't say you "would" be protested but you "could" be because it's against the sporting code.
