This was just posted on the iRacing forums, anyone see anything odd about the shape of grips?

LOL!

Simracing as double handjobing :) That's nothing wrong with that, except that they are circumcised.

Rumor is that it will be like the Caddy, free but it has to run it's own series for a year for promotion purposes. Mr.Melencholy is going to be thrilled, another FWD car.

Edit: And Interlagos is looking nice!

Hi guys -

Noob here. Just ordered a ton of equipment and it has been arriving daily (my Fanatec order arrived yesterday). Should have it all pieced together by next weekend.

I'm about to register for iracing but have a question. I searched for a few tracks I run (Lotus Elise) but did not see them listed (Buttonwillow, Willow Springs, Chuckawalla) and was wondering if there is a way to run them in iracing for practice purposes.

Thanks

Nope, what is listed is what you can get. Although with the rate iRacing is making cars, tracks and developments it wouldn't surprise me if one of them was on eventually, probably Willow Springs.

I don't think anybody makes track/car mods (beside sound etc) because they cannot match iRacing's mm perfect scanning.

I recommend rFactor if you want this sort of modding simulator.

I'm not 100% sure on what you mean exactly but I presume you want to use iRacing as a tool in part to help learn tracks you run in real life. So I will answer as broadly as I can.

In iRacing you can run any car track combo you have in offline practice, any car/track combo you have the correct license for that is being run in that particular week in online practice, qualifying and race or single-player ranked time trial. (At the very beginning it's MX-5 at Lime Rock or Okayama Short/Street Stock at Charlotte/USA International)

Later on as your license goes up with SR (Safety Rating[Rewards you for safe driving]) you gain licenses in road/oval. (Whatever you prefer or both if you wish.) The license go from Rookie through D,C,B and A to Pro in both sides. When you go Pro you can race whatever you want on that side whether it be road or oval.

Basically if you buy a very fast car and a load of tracks straight away you can use them. And if you buy certain tracks that you use to race on in real life with a car that you also use you can drive it straight away by yourself. Whether it actually helps or not I'm not sure, but I believe other can help you on that.

Check this out, we've got a Kia coming soon to iRacing. Hopefully it can run with the BMW 1-series and Civic.

So Andrew was right then!! Pretty stoked about it! More so that it'll likely be a freebie like the Caddy last year!!
And Interlagos is looking pretty damn amazing!!

But I seriously doubt it'll run with the BTCC cars, this piggie weights close to 3000 pounds and is somewhere near 400hp.

Well Willow Springs has already been scanned for over a year now but work has stopped ever since. They just switched priority to bigger high profile international tracks. Personally I'd love to see it finished along with New York, Miller Motor Park and many of the ones that are already signed or in development. But on the other hand we all want the great big name tracks of the world!

Thanks guys. Yes, I'm looking to use sim racing as a tool both to help learn tracks I run in real life and learn to heel/toe (it's tough in an Elise!).

Then it'll serve you very well! The tracks ade laser scanned wich means every dip, every bump, every camber change is there as well as most of the vissual refernces, though the later ones do change all the time.
At least we have Laguna wich seem to be on your club's region but I'm not sure if you do use it. I know you guys hate the silly noise limits on that track!

When are the GT races going to get going? The past 2 days i dont see any races available, i think ive practiced enough and want to get out there.

Can someone send me the link to the Kia thread please, not very good at navigating the irscing forum!

Laguna is absolutely amazing but yes, those silly noise limits are quite restrictive.

Jav, How how long is practice and what time does the race start tonight? I've got to hang out with Jeff Gordon, but may be back in enough time to hop in late in practice.

Finaly ;)

Lastly, to help with price, for you folks that like to drive in leagues or in hosted, we are working on a development project that will allow you to race with other cars in multi-class without needing to own them in hosted. For hosted & league racing now, you need to own all the cars in race to be able to race with them. Across the board for all cars, that will change. We hope project is complete for this build. While we are at it, also moving number of allowed cars in multi-class up from 3 to 4 cars. Again neither of those projects are 100% for this build but relatively optimistic will be in build.

I call a bit of BS in those words! It was announced a year ago and it fell on the back seat!
A few seasons ago when they where using the oval cars at Road America the first few hours you needed to own all content. It only took a few hours before they caught up to the mistake and fixed it!
