Same here! Really making me consider blowing my first pay check next month on a bigger power source, second graphics card and 2 TV's to add to my iRacing machine.

Mine is just upgraded computer! I got to start small but one day ill have a setup.

That money has been spread out over 2-3 years. Its a little easier to swallow if you just add a piece here or there. Next on the list is triple monitors. I just recently bought the new PC. I have accepted the fact that my rig will always be a work in progress.

Mind you, I started iRacing on a laptop connected to my TV with the wheel secured to a table.👍

I got my computer off eBay for €400. Cheap and very effective. Full 1080p graphics on iRacing apart from 2 Pass and DXnt (Or something like that).

In the summer I plan to build a sturdy table/rig and get a second hand car seat (Probably not a racing seat though as I want comfort) as at the moment I play on a flimsy desk in a recliner

Let me guess your parents bought you GT5, PS3 and a car?! You fail to realize not everyone here even needs a car to get around either so $2000 for a car might not be much to you but them you got to maintain it, tags, insurance and all that jazz.

So I highly suggest you get off the your better than others chair and get a clue how life works in general.

Jav
Lol!! Things like this make me so happy I don't have kids, hell it even scares me to think of having kids almost as if it was wrong to bring them into the world!!

Me is very very jelly!!

A It wasn't one little comment, it was an insult to a respected member in this sub-forum/thread.

B We don't know whether he has a real car or not and it's irrelevant. You can''t go racing on a road without serious consequences nor will he need to keep pumping thousands of dollars into his rig every year for racing licenses, racing insurance, fuel, tyres, modifications, entry to competitions, track days and general maintenance.

C iRacing isn't a game, nor does it claim to be. It is one of, if not, the best and most realistic simulators on the market.

D And finally you should give a crap about grammar on this site as when you registered here you agreed to the Terms and Conditions and Acceptable Use Policy which states many things including: Using proper grammar and to not insult other members.

TL;DR: Pretty much just a rage I needed to let out. Sorry to anyone bored of this already.

EDIT:

I'm getting one at the end of the month, desperate to have a quieter higher quality wheel, clutch and H shifter. My DFGT has suffered enough

Thank you, but seriously.. My rig is totally home made and didn't cost much, the computer with triple screen setup wasn't cheap though. But taking it to a new level.. Not really, you should open up your eyes and you see this isn't the most expensive rig owned by a private person.

And to your no life comment. I have paid off my house, I have paid off my car and the loan on the households second car isn't that high. My wife and I have a dog, a cat and we do have a life. Not going into explaining myself to you though.

Damn. You are judgmental here, Why are you the one in the world knowing what a life is? Calling people pathetic is a smart way to explain you don't really know what you talking about.

We heard your opinion. But most of us didn't agree so they state their opinion as well.

Your clearly have a different view on car games/simulators than the rest of us. Or most of us anyway. And I respect your way of playing GT5, now either respect my way of having fun with iRacing or shut up please.

Nothing wrong with it, but realistic.. not so much.

Over reacting. You are obviously a kid thinking you know everything, and when you explain we spent our money on junk you call us no life and pathetic. So I don't see anyone over reacting. I see someone just trying to explain to you that you don't know what the hell you are talking about.

Now leave us alone POS

Of course you're going to get bored with a G27 wheel. You have to turn left and right to get enjoyment out of it!💡

Drag racing in GT5? Really?

I would guess I have about $2100 wrapped up in my rig. This includes computer, 37" TV(going triples within next year or so), wheel/pedals, and custom made rig. Waste of money? I don't think so. Some of the best money I've ever spent. Iracing is not a game to me, its a hobby. So, thats my opinion for what its worth.

If you lot want to carry this on after I've dealt with it (thanks for wasting my time by the way), the next time someone comes in here and tries to stir things up don't bother me with it. 👎

JDmsz,
Now that you've stated your opinion I guess there isn't much left for you to post. I therefore strongly suggest you move on.

Thanks.

My rig has been a WIP for over 2 years now, the best thing that happened was the deal I got on my 3 55" HDTV'S. First one was half price, second one was free, the third one I payed full price. I would have never went that big if for Sony Canada screwing up on my order.

The rig itself was a custom Zalem rig that I found plans for that Zalem posted online. In fact I found close to 100 reference photos on the rig. It took me close to 3 months to obtain all the parts and get the work done. I could build one now in at least one month or less.

Next was the hardware, button boxes, tach, wheels, pedals and accessories. My PC, I had built for a cost of about $1000 with shipping, taxes, etc.. All told, I would estimate a retail price of close to $10,000.00 This includes my 7.1 A/V system, speakers, Sim Vibe and all the transducers, amps and other stuff to numerous to mention. On a wholesale price it was likely half that or less. Once I get my multi rev burner I will put in much more work on a dash and gauges.

LOL, got a 10 point worth of infraction for my last message and the message to move on. And I guess I will do.

It was a pleasure while it lasted guys, but it all comes to a end. This will be my last post on this forum as I'm not going to change the way I am because of any forum. And when some moderator fails to see the bigger picture because I put 3 letters to my post.

I'm done with it.

The day I can live with being called a no life by a even more no life without commenting on it, I'm buried in the ground.

Eric, best forget what some mod has penalized you for. I have been charged 3 or 4 times because of infractions. Keep in mind that this forum isn't a democracy of sorts. We have rules that we agreed on when we joined.

The best thing is to ignore the trolls, as you know they are every where. I got in trouble for trying to defend myself against them and it only resulted in trouble for me. Now I let the immature guys go at it, some even admit to trolling for fun.

You are one of the good guys, don't let a knee jerk reaction ruin it for you. 10 points against you is just a reminder, "forget about it" as Mickey blue eyes said to James Caan :D

Don't go Erik, everyone here was on you side. Would be a shame to see you go.

I wouldn't say everyone. I often found his condescending tone making me pull my hair out often. It is sad to see a member go for a strange reason like this though.

I will bite my lip on this one. So no comment.

It's probably just a thing where him and I don't see eye to eye on things.

It happens but if he felt he wasn't wanted here or didn't want to be here then wish him luck. We didn't see eye to eye on his new league deal but it is what it is, no hard feelings.

edit:

I bought the IndyCar finally and LOVE it at Iowa. I won in my 4th start but man it's fast, I wasn't taking a chance at Martinsville this week and for some reason The Rock isn't my friend so changed up pace.

I am thinking about buying the Mclaren. I have the Ford GT. How do these cara compare. Is the Mclaren faster, better handeling
Want run in the GT challange. Only at C lic so not a lot of experience.

Which one is faster all depends on the track, they are pretty close, but it seems the McLaren normally has a slight edge.

As far as driving goes, this is all subjective opinion, but I think the Ford GT (even with the recent physics overall) is complete crap to drive. Again, just my opinion, but I think the McLaren is a much better car. It just feels more intuitive, I feel more in touch with what is going on with it. Of course it's got tire model problems just like all the road cars, but of all the GT cars, I absolutely love the McLaren the most.

Agree with you 100%. So many people love the newly updated Ford GT. My opinion, I hate it now. It was fun to drive before but now, it just feels like an enormous boat.

I wouldn't be one to ask about either of those. I only have bought the IndyCar and DP since I'm oval guy through and through. Granted I will probably use IndyCar alot more since it seems like a fun car overall to drive but there is a fine line with it and not much give if you cross it.

Iowa you can NOT touch the yellow line or it will spin you if you stay in the gas. The thing is stuff happens so fast in this car that you barely have time to think so reaction is everything.

Same with the F1 car, you can save some slides but over correct or end up fish tailing and your pretty screwed in it.

Well at least they handle the same, I tell you it happens fast when I saw someone touch the line. Everytime I touched it I was off it and off the gas as soon as I knew it but still would get loose.

I have always liked the Ford GT, IMO the McLaren is much easier to drive. Not that it's a problem :) Look at the Grand AM races, usually it's a ratio of 3:1 for the McLaren's over the DP's in attendance, if not more. The DP is more difficult to drive.

The Ford GT, sounds very good, so does the McLaren but I'll give the edge to the Ford, especially when I have over 500 watts pumping through my 7.1 system and I always race with the volume loud. Also the GT does handle better since that last build. I think most of the people in the service would prefer the McLaren over the GT, so I'll go with the Ford :).

Maybe I'm the only person who thinks that it handles much worse after the update.

For me it's not that it handles any better or worse, it's just that it's more realiztic in that is much more predictable and planted as oposed to what we had before where it could change directions very quickly but the margin for error was way too slim, it always felt like it was in Beta stage.
For the McLaren I hate how the car is affected by the diff and how it want's to spin in every time you get on the gas mid-to corner exit rather than tracking out like a normal car.

Skip Barber was great, I did the two day driving course using Mazda MX-5s, RX-8s, and 3's. It was a great experience, all 3 of my instructors were excellent and I learned a lot. I was complimented quite a lot and was told I should look into one of the three day racing schools. I struggled a bit with heel/toe but everything else went great. I was soaking up all the instruction like a sponge and at the end of each day we had a race on one of the two autocross courses. Yesterday was in the automatic 3's and I won and today was with a manual RX-8 and I won that too.. Right before I took my final run my instructor said "remember Mac, Grand-Am is waiting.." and I ended up going 1.3 seconds faster than 2nd place.. It was so much fun and I think the racing bug bit me.. Managed to get all my instructors and even Skip Barber to sign my Skip Barber book.. :)

Love to read that Mac! Happy for you, if you have the resources to pursuit a career by all means go for it! We're proud of you, awesome job!!

In the HPD....on the opening pace lap....guy slows down just as everyone else starts going. Can you guess the result?

Someone rear ended him, then chain reaction all the way to the back. I was near the back anyways, impacted the guy in front of me at less than 20mph, had VERY minor damage to the front right, no wheel damage, appeared to only be cosmetic. Meatball flag.....pitted...."Too much damage we're done!" Three other guys in the pits with me had the same thing, very minor damage, but ended their race. Maybe some damage glitch that we got caught in? It's weird that such a low speed impact would end the race for four people at the very start of the race.

WTF? Anyone else ever had a VERY minor impact end their race like that? It's my first time in 18 months or so of iRacing regularly. Never had it happen on my old roommate's account either back as far as 2009.
