My string of bad luck on iRacing continues. Took a 2 week break thinking it would fix things. Get taken out by a driver who went off and got over zealous with the throttle in the grass and spun into me.

That's 5 races in a row where I've gotten taken out by other people. It's really frustrating as it was not this bad a few years ago when I got on. Everyone was able to race clean and hard. Now there's just too many people who don't know what to and what not to do.

Wow, that is terrible luck. What series are you running where you keep getting wrecked?

I on the other hand have had a good stretch of races lately. Getting very familiar with the corvette and have been running the proto/gt series this week. I just wish the races were longer than 25 minutes.

Within those 5 races there was 3 series run. Proto & GT, Grand Am, and Indy Road.

I cant speak for Indy, but the other 2 series ive definitely seen some bonehead moves. Just because someone has a blue stripe on their car doesnt mean they're a smart driver.
 
Is it just me or are the class B guys typically the better ones, I often have fun clean racing around class B guys and when they're in the faster class, they're the most patient.

Nope, I've noticed this also over the past week. There's quite a few loonies in C class fixed races. The B class fixed definitely have a calmer feel to them.
 
Yes, but sprint cars are Class B and Modifieds participation is poor :p

Plus neither are road series.

Has anyone here actually raced the modifieds? I have the cars but never raced them.
 
I did the sprint car in the QA session they had a few months ago, and I wasn't impressed, I couldn't figure out how to slow down properly, hats off to those who can drive it but I haven't bought either.

I reckon I've done more open wheel racing, in real life, than Kamuifanboy. :lol:

Karting is INCREDIBLY difficult to replicate in a game. Because so much is dependent on the direct feedback that you get from your buttocks in a real life kart, it makes driving a simulation kart insanely difficult. GT5's karts don't actually feel so bad, it's just really hard to control when driving on the limit because you can't feel when the grip is starting to give way.

Maybe you do lol. I ran about 8 full seasons of karting. Does yours add up to more than that?

Maybe not really a good car to dive into open wheel racing with. It handles nothing like a proper Formula Car.

Early impressions are it feels a lot like the Spec Racer Ford. You cant steer in to a corner too hard and the slightest bit of oversteer correction seems to end up in a snap motion right off the racing line. Perhaps im too used to the grip levels of the vette, but i was a good 3-4 seconds off the fastest pace in practice. Im gonna give it an honest try though, i do like open wheel racing but im new to it.

Also, I found out on Saturday, karting would be horrid for Safety rating. I actually lost safety rating for doing that in my Optima. Oh, and I lost some safety rating for even posting that video, I bet.

Honestly I would skip it and move to the Star Mazda, never liked either of them but much, much preferred it to the Skippy. Just couldn't handle that oversteer.

If your willing to continue driving the Skippy though try leaving 5% of the throttle on in the corners to tame the oversteer.

Agh! I can't figure out how to on a mobile device, it was posted to meridian speedway's page by some guy who does racing videos and shared by a friend of mine, that's the only reason I was able to see it :lol:

Hey, what's the graphics setting I have to change to be able to see the dirt build up on the windshield? I've never seen it in person.

I didn't think that it was a setting but, don't quote me on that.

The baseline setups aren't that good, you can make it much more stable just by changing the pressures/spring perch offset/fuel load.

I don't think there's a specific "dirty windscreen" setting, its just down to how much detail you have turned on, mine is set to class4 on the slider at the top, and I get a dirty windscreen.
 
Yeah, I thought was just a level of detail setting but i don't know which one, problem is that I don't know how much more detail my computer will run before I drop below my locked frame rate of 130

It is the vertex shaders that turn it on and off. Its also where visual car damage is done among other effects.
