The HSV is not mid engined.

Yes it is. Its FMR, as opposed to the McLaren which is RMR..but its certainly mid-engined.

But anyway, the original point was about the Lotus 49...and that the HSV is not such a wildly different car to the rest of the GT cars. Sure, its definitely different, but if we are going to call the Lotus 49 "pointless" then I think its fair to say the same about the Z4 and HSV.

Nothing particularly interesting in this build other than the Weather conditions and the content...

I'm not smart enough to understand most of it. LOL

I'm looking forward to finally trying the Lotus that there is so much hype about.

Do you not think there's a fairly significant difference between a front mid-engine and a rear mid-engine? There's a reason that why when most people say "mid-engine", they're specifically thinking about rear mid-engined cars.

The difference in handling between a forward mounted engine and a front mid-mounted engine is not massive, unless you're talking about something with the engine waaay out in front of the front wheels. Jack the engine in the HSV forward three inches and it's not suddenly a different car. The difference between a front mid and a rear mid is substantial, particularly in the way they react to driver input. The distribution of mass is significantly different.

I think this is one of the best build updates yet.

Dynamic Weather
Fog
Pit Function Macros
Content
Oculus Rift support (huge one for me)

Lots of people excited about the figure 8 track layout and the additional crew chief setup functions as well. Tons of great stuff in this update.

Oh wow!! Can't wait for Spa with fog!! Anyone up for a Spa 24 lap race on the Sunday of the Spa 24hr?? Ford GT vs McLaren GT-3 BOP'd??

I WISH I HAD TIME!!!!........ and internet for more than 3 days a week lol

This update looks good, according to that article, basically the L49 is a legend with 3 times the power and half the brakes......:D

I'm still going to buy it with the credits that have been laying dormant for the past year for it even if I can only get 1 hr a week if that and while I'm at it I might as well get long beach and villenueve and the figure 8 sounds interesting enough just maybe.

They run Super figure-8s @ Evergreen speedway from time to time and it requires a totally different skill and good brakes :)

Im kinda looking forward to this update. Finally the lotus is coming and the new weather effects. I just hope that the new options for weather is optimized and not gonna kill FPS, some tracks cant take another hit.

No joke, some tracks already are very busy.

Fixed so it applies to me.
btw, I finally got another 3 months, so happy to be able to use the iRacing service again! So sad they'll get rid of the Fixed series for the IndyCar and the P&GT series, but if the NTMv5 for the Skippy is drivable, I will probably drive the Skippy. Or the Star Mazda. Or I'll learn how to build a setup for the HPD (until then, I should be at least 70). Hmm, hard decision ...
I wish I'd have the money for a decent PC and some new content, but sadly, I found out this week (way too late!) that my summer job got cancelled. That means no money for at least one more year. :grumpy: I really hope I can still drive at least 8 weeks without buying new content ...

@RacingPanda and fatkrakr if properly optimized it should help not hurt FPS. Think of it as draw distance. Instead of the whole track being loaded graphically only what you passed and are currently approaching will be loaded. It should help with all GPU's hopefully.

Guys, gonna be hosting a server on Spa for the Ford GT and McLaren, both cars BoP'd for a possible Spa 24 special race on the 28th this month. Server goes online at 7PM US EST in around 25 minutes. Please jump in and do some fast laps and help me get these cars perfectly balanced!
Gonna be posting up more details about the race shortly.
