LOL. uhm. yeah, o.k. :lol::lol:

Well, quite obviously if you don't have the time to set up the FFB to setting's that suit you then you won't have time to setup cars outside of the MX5 and Skip Barber.

And by the way, try rFactor 1's settings, then come back and say iRacing's FFB is bad.

I just resubscribed for a year D: hopefully I don't regret it. its been a long time. got 4 gigs to download.

Erm, you didn't pay $99 for a year right? Because there's a promo right now where you get two years for that price.

Yeah... An entire community regards iRacing's FFB as the best out there or close to it and one anonimous guy says different... Hmmm... Who to trust...?
Yeah, nice try!

Good to see you're being rational and sensible about this. By all means, continue complaining about how bad it is, but don't take any time to try and address the problem, even after help has been offered to you.

iRacing has laser scanned tracks and with a good setup you can feel every bump. They have a reasonably sophisticated steering rack model that transmits the forces at the wheels to the steering wheel. If you're interested in actually experiencing this the way it should be, feel free to PM me.

If you're just looking to complain about it, might I suggest you go here: http://members.iracing.com/jforum/forums/show/677.page

Thanks Imari, that link helped my FFB! ironic right?
I know I don't have the profiler set right but I've become so accustomed to the 200 degree steering that I don't really want to change it. but I now have FFB at 16(up from 13) and min force at 14.6 (14.5 was the recommended for my G27) and I could tell the difference.👍

I just bought the three new tracks and the L49, and have been testing the L49 on all three along with interlagos (yes, the figure 8 too:p). The car is a lot of fun once you modify the rear ARB and brake bias. It's a kick in the pants but a race in it would probably be the equivalent of a rookie race. It's not a bad short track car either but daytona is sketchy with the baseline:D it's certainly not for everyone:eek:

hosted L49 sessions are like launch week for CoD games

Gotta say I love the Lotus 49. Only thing is I have to many off tracks and spins to feel I can actually go into an official race and not lose 3 licenses.

Otherwise a blast to drive.

Exactly how I feel about it too.

I've been running the H-Pattern with it too. That's uncommon for me, typically I run sequential but am forced to run paddles since my G27 upgrade. I am surprised how quick I picked it up. I still have trouble from 4th to 5th and 5th to 4th but I'd say it was easier than normal to pick it up b/c I was pretty much on a clean slate with a new car and new track so I figured wth why not use the proper gearbox. I'm still trying to get it with the clutch, I only use it about half the time the other half is just left foot + blip. I've always left foot braked in racing, some habits die hard.

Now I'm waiting on mid '60s Le Mans racers, bring on the Daytona Coupe and GT40! :sly:
Seriously though, that'd be awesome!

The L49 is amazing... I actually have more confindence in driving that car than any other car in the service.

Agree completely.

At the moment I'm trying to train myself to slow down a bit. I reckon if you can run a clean race and only be four or five seconds off world record times, you'll have a good shot at top five at least. And it's a small step from there to getting lucky and having the leader flinch and crash out, or get taken out by backmarkers.

Speed is way less important in the Lotus than pretty much any other car, I think. Consistency and safety is everything.

It is nice though when you get it right. The car responds really strongly to every input, and when you get it right it's such a good feeling. It hooks up so well.

I think the biggest thing with the 49 is knowing when to pass. Just because the car in front slides a bit or whatever isn't an instant passing opportunity. The car has such speed in a straight line that if they save the car there probably be straight enough to out accelerate you down the straight which will turn into a mess at the other end. Being patient and picking the right time to pass is key to a successful run.

Even going off track isn't an auto pass. The difference between the grip on the tarmac and the grip on the grass is fairly low. If you avoid spinning up the rear wheels you're pretty safe, as long as you don't hit a big bump.

That, and that most people have so little control over the car that being alongside them is about the most dangerous place you could possibly be. :sly:

Ugh, having iRacing withdrawals.

So because some people are still using Windows XP (why!?) they disabled the Oculus Rift until they can get a workaround fix. Apparently the Rift API clashed with Windows XP users for some reason. Just upgrade!

Sure, I could go back and play on a regular monitor setup, but after using the Rift in iRacing, I have no desire to ever go back to racing on a flat 2d screen again.

This sucks. Hopefully the fix comes out soon. :(

You would think that after almost 12 years people would want to upgrade. Stuff like this reminds me people do not like change.

@Aderrrm No. Just one car and the track you are racing at. This applies to official sessions also.

Cool thanks. I remember they were saying they were going to change that for a long time. Thankfully they have now!

Is it just me, or has there been a lot more "Pro sportscar" series talk as of late?

I haven't looked at the forums until recently, so maybe this has been going on for awhile...

People have been begging for different pro series for a long time. But it has reached a peak lately due to so many people getting fed up with how bad the iRacing F1 car is.

There's still very little wrong with XP. If I hadn't needed a 64bit OS, I'd still be using it because the incentive to change is very small. I can't think of any aspects of Win7 that I use now that are substantially different to XP.

DirectX compatibility is a huge one. DX 9.0c is the latest one available for XP, which will work fine for iRacing, but eventually even iRacing is going to move beyond DX9. Also XP is reaching it's "end-of-life" which means end of official support early next year.

While the aesthetic differences between XP and 7 aren't very substantial, the "behind-the-scenes" stuff is where 7 is MUCH MUCH better.

That's pretty much what I figured.

Would be cool if they did it!

One thing I have never understood about iRacing and probably never will, is why they treat the F1 car so badly.

It seems like the top cars for each side (oval and road) would be the first to get the newest tech developments and stuff like that. So the F1 car should have been the first with the newest tire model developments, and the first with enhanced sounds, etc, etc. But it seems that it just gets pushed aside which is weird to me.

I agree. I'm not sure why they don't push it more as a desirable end goal for a road racing "career" on iRacing. Particularly given the skill and effort needed to get a Pro license. Some people are always going to do their own thing, but you might as well use your flagship series if you're going to have it there.

XP was a great OS. XP is my favorite OS to date. I feel like games are being held back by some users you are still using XP. I understand the guys who have older PC's which won't run Windows 7, and I understand they are starting to lose a lot of games because they do not support Windows XP.

iRacing needs to say now "as of Season 3 2014, Windows XP will no longer be supported". It gives the guys who need a new PC some time to upgrade.

That'd be a good idea. Chances are it'd still work in some form, or somebody would make a hack so that it did work, but the responsibility would be on the user and not on iRacing.

Oval racing gets priority for some weird reason. Look at it this way, the FW31 is a 2009 car, the Gen6 is a 2013. The Gen6 car doesn't feel atrocious, but the FW31 does. Take it from me because I have drove in the FW31 for the past 3 seasons and this season was simply pathetic, almost as if iRacing is saying they don't care about it. Eric Hudec has said he realises (finally) the car is bad and they are working on a patch to fix it for the rest of the season after this build. The car has no grip at high or low speed. Unless it is fixed I am planning on going back to the Star Mazda for a season, and many other regulars have and/or are considering leaving that series unless it is sorted out.
