I'm not a member of iracing at the moment, can anyone summarize this thread? Supposedly it's Shaun Cole talking about his split with Inside Sim Racing.

Thanks.

"I agree it was weird.. Not easy for me to do alone and then edit that piece. He left without me knowing and I actually haven't talked to him face to face since December 23rd. "

Matt Orr a.k.a. Empty Box on YouTube stating that Shaun had asked him about a Job offer with ISR but, never really moved a long after that.

Hey Guys,

First I will start with addressing the posts asking me how I'm doing, I'm doing good considering the circumstances and thanks for asking.

Second, what happened between us is exactly that, between us. I will say a few things about the situation though.

I have lost my best friend (next to my wife) and it's not what I wanted.

I have lost my business partner and it's not what I wanted either.

I asked Shaun to come here, blog or come on the show to say goodbye and for reasons only known to him, he has chosen not to. I can only speculate why he doesn't want to and I'm assuming that it's because it's not the easiest thing for him to do. I can only assume like all of you why he went back to California and left the show, but he chose not to tell me. Matter of fact, I didn't know he was going to California until he was already there.

Were things perfect behind the scenes.. no.. Running this company has been a roller coaster ride to be honest. We've had good times, great times, tough times and bad times. But, please take into consideration that this company is a lot more than us booting up a camera and talking sim racing. We've always tried to be 100% professional for our viewers and our sponsors and based on all the great comments, that has come through.

It took me more than a week to get over the shock of him leaving, but now it's time for me to move on, pick up the pieces and do my best to continue this without him. I have complete faith in my ability to keep things rolling. Will it be tough.> Sure, but I love a challenge. Do I miss having my good buddy by my side to talk sim racing with on camera for all of you.. Hell yes I do. But like I said in the show (if you watched), sometimes good things need to come to an end and our business relationship has run it's course.

I've seen my favorite bands break up, favorite TV shows come to end, and favorite driver pass away as I watched (Dale Sr). Not that I put us into that realm of popularity, but I chalk it up to life and we all have to move on.

Thanks again for the kind words and I hope Shaun comes here soon to see how much people loved him and how much he'll be missed.

Those are quotes from Darin, not Shaun.

Shame.. I really liked Shaun. So, whose doing the Daytona 2.4 and in what car? I know I sort of asked this before when I was undecided on what car to run..

I'll be in the RUF and most likely running two of the races. Haven't decided which two yet though. I'm a bit scared about being in what will most likely be the 2nd split. I don't think that I have the speed or balls to compete with most of those drivers for 2 hours and 24 minutes. I'm running fairly competitive times, low 44's and high 43's in race trim, but, a lot of guys are running 42's in race trim 8|

I'll be running the RUF on Friday night. The other 3 are all during the actual Rolex 24, so I probably won't run those. I might do the Saturday night one if I'm bored of watching the race by then. :)
I ended up in a practice with Shinya last night. He shared his setup and after a good many laps I got my time down into the 44's. High 44's, but I'll take it. :)

Ruf here, I did a quali session early this week but it'll probably put me towards the back on my split since it will go by iRating rather than quali times this time qround. I'll see if I can get a draft off of a DP tonight and improve that time!

Thanks. I thought Shaun had actually replied in the thread. Maybe it's best not to know anyways.

I'm not because I'll be at the irl race.

DAYTONA PROTOTYPE BABY!! WHOOOHOOO!!! I don't know where I stand in the field of entrants i posted a 1:38.8 this morning on a qualifying session but I think I have about 6 more tenths to lose on my time. 1:38.2 is my fastest ever so ya. I'll probably be in the 3rd split. See you guys there!

Nice lap! I only got mine down to 1.39.1 in race conditions. I didn't practice a lot though because I won't be able to race the darn thing

The thread is basically a bunch of people finding any excuse possible to throw their morning dump at Darin.

Pretty sad, really.
Yeah it is pretty sad how people are hoping Darin fails on his own. While I never really cared for Darin or his reviews very much its no reason to wish failure on him. A lot are saying the show will die without Shaun, but in my opinion the show was dying with him their, so leaving doesn't have much effect. It was pretty pathetic when almost everything they reviewed got an 8 out of 10, but what really killed any respect I had for them was when they got Humanracing for a sponsor and the review of the seat when from 8 to a 10, or after the Fanatec fiasco they started saying how much better the T500 was when just a few months earlier the csw and elite where the wheels to have according to them.

Oh boy.. The Shaun Cole thread has been locked on iRacing. :scared:

That must've been really ugly. Those guys were about as big as it got for iracing on youtube. Hopefully Darin can pull through and sorta just move on with a different mentality. If he comes on the next show and goes off on everyone for saying he can't do it... Well... That may be the kiss of death. The guy they had do the DTM game review sorta choked during that too. I think if Darin can't get his toys put away soon... Hopefully Empty Box starts doing reviews! :P

But seriously, hopefully they can recover. Darin has some videos coming up pretty quickly now. Hopefully he can find a guy into this as much as he is. Remember that news reporter girl they had on who didn't have the slightest clue what was going on? Well hopefully he learned from that...

The Dirt Announced for iRacing thread broke Google Chrome for me on page 6. It does not load and it gives me this error. But that was the best quote tree until it go ruined on Page 5.

You'll be fine, this year it'll split by iRating instead of times so you will most likely be on pole with a good quali lap.

So, the draft seems to be pretty important if you want to be towards the sharp end of the grid after qualifying for the 2.4..

Oh yeah, been trying to get a good tow in quali to get a solid time, but have failed miserably tonight. That last session Owensracing had a solid 43 going but we got held up by 2 guys on the bus stop... I had a 43 going the session before but the tow I managed to find got involved in a wreck on the last timed lap and I couldn't avoid it. Will try again tomorrow!

At least you had a draft.. So the races will be tomorrow, Saturday, and Sunday at 8:00 PM Eastern?

Yeah, but it ended up hurting me... Lol! My best qualy is actually on clean air, need to get me a tow if I wanna be near the front on my split and away from the mess...
I believe there will be a race around noon EST on Saturday.

That's what I'm worried about. I have 3750 iRating which will most likely pumatet the bottom of split two. I am nowhere near as fast as most people in that iRating bracket.

I run 1:43.5 by myself. Drafting with my teammate with full fuel, 1:41.9. It makes a HUGE difference

The fact it's split by iRating is precisely the reason why I never bothered with quali. Did a quick 39 and got the hell out.

Anyone else having an issue similar to this? Whenever someone connects to a session I'm in, my screen gets really laggy for about two seconds, and this usually only happens in a highly populated server (such as practice for the Daytona 2.4). I turn off the connection from all my other devices (laptop, ipod, phone, etc) and it still does it. My connection is fine (wired). Am I better off maybe turning the graphic detail down slightly? (Daytona seems to be one of the "heavier" tracks anyways)

Happens to me as well, but I feel like it only started recently. Are you guys running SimVibe? Seems like it started around the time I got my bass shakers.

The only time I ever had an issue like that was when the Mclaren was first released. They had a patch and Ive not had it happen since then.

I'm not running the 2.4 this year but I did have lagging problems with practices for last years 2.4. The actual race last year crashed and they had to reschedule it. I ended up losing ~100iR from that fiasco.
