Id imagine for next week that Bathurst is pretty tough for HPD drivers because you can only realy pass on the 3 straights. This Ford needs alot of track to turn and there aint much of it here.

You would be surprised actually. The crazy HPD drivers can't keep things together and will have hit a wall far before they can reach the GT's. Most of the guys that are quite good in the car, are patient with them.

The Ford GT is awesome to drive. It's a lot of fun. The only problem is that usually the proto GT races have 5 Fords, 5 Vettes, and 409285dn837d100*10^22 HPD in the race. They are horrible about shoving the slower classes off the track ruining the races of themselves and the GT cars. On a track like Bathurst, it's amplified by the narrow parts. I still like the Ford GT though. It's an awesome car and I recommend it

I've had 2 splits this week with 9 HPD, 13 C6R, and 10 Ford GT drivers, or a similar ratio. "They" does not imply everyone. Realistically, it's only 30% (guessing based off running the series since its iteration) of the HPD drivers that cause problems. You only choose to remember them because it ruined your race (I ran a season in the GT so, I get it so to speak). And it's mainly those drivers that cause problems in other races as well, nothing new there.

So, is filing protests for people who forget to brake in time for turn one even worth it? Any chance of 4x reversal?
I usually don't bother, but getting taken out from pole is annoying. I don't get too many of those.

Unless it was intentional, and have proof that it was intentional, protesting is completely useless.

No chance of SR or iRating change from reversal.

Not worth it. And honestly, accidents like that shouldn't be protested. The iRacing staff is certainly busy enough that they don't need to marshal every small mistake (it would be impossible anyways; that would be thousands of incidents per day). That's one of the reasons why safety rating and incident points exit in the first place: for people to self-correct without intervention by iRacing admins.

They isn't everyone. The top 5 are very careful and patient. In a 30 car race, usually the bottom 8 or so numbers are HPD, and those guys (esp. in races that don't split) are the ones that you've gotta look out for

Unfortunately, that's why I race the HPD :)
I can usually count on 5 of those drivers crashing out of the race.
I'm not fast in it, but consistent and clean.
If I drive the Vette or FGT, I just end up losing IR.

It can very tricky surviving on a GT car, the HPD loonies and idiots are a reality of that series you just need to learn how to use them to your advantage and learn how to get a message across loud and clear, make your moves and claim your line early on, force them to go the long way around and of course always be aware of what's coming your way 10 seconds out.

McLaren or Ruf? I'm proudly part of the McLaren minority in the series. I'm trying the camber trick tonight too to see just how fast I can get

With the Ruf, maybe I'll give both of them a run. Mostly when I'm settled with a car I don't want anything else xD And the Ruf drives just so nice :dopey:

Yea I did some laps in the RUF round Bathurst in a hosted session last night...Awesome fun. I'd imagine the Mclaren (and any car) is awesome fun round Bathurst though :)

At Bathurst it seems more even to me. Honestly, not getting taken out will guarantee a top 5 as far as I've seen in GT3 practice sessions

I've taken some time to drive both the RUF and the McLaren. The RUF is most definitely quicker. Easier to drive as well. Sounds like Road Atlanta all over again.

Considering most people are struggling to complete laps in the practice session, the race will be finished after the first 3 laps really. If 10 people finish the race I'd be surprised.

That's what I saw in the practice sessions. I've got a steady 2.06 flat setup which as long as I can survive, I'll be just fine. I'm going to start from the pits when I do race one

Jav
I had a very good setup last season, but I don't know how well it would work on the new tires...
What exactly would be a competitive time the the ford, my fastest so far is a 2.08 but i could still shave maybe another second off.
Edit: got it down to a 2.06.9

2:06 sounds about right to me. I think that was the times they were running last season, as long as memory isn't letting me down. 2 seconds slower than the GT3 cars around that circuit would also be pretty realistic.

The Class B car is a lot of fun around Indy. Since it's not a conventional oval and features corners like a road course, I'm not incredibly slow either! Ran a race where I started P10 and finished 6th. :)

Does anyone do Oval racing? Like the trucks? About to Fast track thsi week (Nearly impossible on Oval) and am going to get into trucks, which I am excited for.

@michrulejj I race the truck and it's fun but the people talk like it's a social gathering.

My first day trying out the new build and something seems wrong. The cars feel even more sensitive then they already were. I blew up and engine at New Smyrna, by hitting the wall at 46 mph (74 kmh) with the National Impala.

Ran street stocks tonight (I know lot of noobs Lol) I got 3 straight 2nd's and then in my fourth race I finally won. 👍

I've gotten my Bathurst time down to a 2.04.4

In the Mclaren ? Saw someone do a 2'01.9 last night in practice session :boggled:
I got my optimal down to a 2'02.8 but only banked a 2'03.6 so far in the RUF

I'm at a 2:04.999 ;)

I have plenty of time to gain, just need to be settled in now.

Yea that was in the McLaren. I was on pace for a 2.04.0, but I had to dodge a Ruf in the middle of the road. I've figured out the setup to use with 1 wing on the McLaren

Gotta love Bathurst but in a full session it's like dodgems

I'm starting in the pits when I do race. It's ridiculous. I will qualify, but if I'm not starting in the top 5 or so, I'm starting in the pits to avoid the dozens of crashes on the first few laps. Anyone who doesn't crash should get a top 10
