I'm afraid GT3 will be trouble this whole season. Last seasons schedule had enough problematic tracks on it. But, this year, it's like they wanted the drama like we had near the end of last season. Big mess in the High SOF races with intentional crashing and Manufacturer wars. I mean seriously? Who in their right mind thought Glen Classic, Canadian Tire, Brands Indy (seriously?), and Okayama work?
What's wrong with Canadian Tire?

Yea I love that track. Not that I get time to race anymore but I wish that track was on every cars schedule.
Love Brands too, will be cool to lap the Indy configuration in the GT3 cars but maybe not to race especially with full grid.

GT3:

From 23rd to 4th only to have a Brazillian take me out. 2nd and 3rd got little close and slowed up. I rolled off to avoid collecting them. Back on it. Into t1 this Daniel Buck idiot dives deep and pushes out into my car. Damage and next lap it was to much of a handful I lost it.

Seriously not enjoying iRacing public races at all.

DB... He can be fast, but God he can be an annoying idiot doing the text and race thing!

I don't think Brands will be as bad as Watkins, there's really no draft lock. I'm really looking forward to it actually, it combines my 2 favorite things, short tracks and GT3 :D

Ugh, I've been away for a while and it shows. I used to be somewhat fast and "crashy", but now I'm slow and "crashy". I really struggle to stay consistent for an entire race.

On another note, did a GT3 race with the Ruf and really struggled, I was running 1:09s race pace, and eventually took myself out after I got a wheel on the grass under brakes. I then went and did a practice session in the McLaren, and was quickly able to work my way down to a 107.5 (on race fuel). Still not quick, but a massive 2 seconds faster than in the Ruf and I've no idea why. The Macca tends to lose the back in the carousel occasionally though.

More about your driving style and what car suits you better.

B Impala at Rockingham...

Trying to learn a car, and a track at the same time, while trying to figure out what works and what doesn't in the set-up. Surprisingly fun challenge.

There's a great setup guide sheet in the forums somewhere that explains what to do in any situation. Eg. Pushing, loose, entry, exit, midcorner. It really helped me tune for Iowa and charlotte. I'm not sure if it still applies now that ntm v5 is on the car though.

I have tried many, many setup combos and the car is just slow here. Even with my best setup I can't get under 6.7 solo constantly. The Z4 is about 3-5 MPH faster in a straight line. In the top splits, almost all the good drivers are in Z4s, so really nothing to do.

I tried a race at 120%, it was working for the first few laps, got up to 7th from 17th, some of that was on pace. Still my very loose setup gave up and I had a few spins. I hope it gets better at the other track, even the MP412C drivers didn't have it this bad last season.

It seems the RUF is a dog here, ruf ruf ( get it? dog? barking?, I'll see myself out ).

It doesn't matter what car you use, the Z4 is fastest. I can keep up with draft in the McLaren, but that's about it. Using my "look out for these guys" guide got me 8th after gridding 25th yesterday :)

@carracerptp The McLaren to Ruf disadvantage is the same as the McLaren to Z4 disadvantage this season from experiencing both.

Yes, I was just saying the RUF to Z4 difference is bigger than the RUF to Mclaren difference at this track.

This is the first track that the McLaren has been truly faster than the Ruf imo. I've been able to pass Rufs and hold them off whereas the Z4 just zooms back by lol

In one race i did i was racing against Nathan Growden who i know is pretty fast and i could rocket up to him in the draft on the straights but when i was ahead he was nowhere near as close of a closing speed as i was in the draft which is odd, i guess my setup has good straight line speed.

Also this weeks qualifying is a flat out joke, there is no point in even trying if you dont have someone who is willing to help be a draft.

Whoever put WGI classic on the GT3 schedule needs to be taken into a dark room and beaten with a 9-iron

Saved that replay.. Went from 22nd to 14th in one lap where I came to a complete stop. Was a bit of a joke. These short courses need to not be used as much. At least not in the beginning.

Bathurst will be a trip and a half though.

BMW racing BMW

Brazil and a RLL looking car, thats rules #1 and #4 right there. I almost got though if it wasnt for the OTHER RLL BMW not holding his brakes and just rolling back onto the track.

Last season's Bathurst though wasnt half bad, had an awesome last lap battle with 2 other guys in that race, and im always pretty quick there.

I was totally stopped for a decent amount of time. A totally messed up start, not only to the race but the season in general.

Hope to have a better week coming up.

Taken out again in the 12am race, gonna wait for the 2am one since everyone at that race yesterday was very clean. However now i can say hello to B class again and watch my iRating tumble.

Got taken out as well on 12am race. First race back, had about 5 weeks off. Get dive-bombed on 2nd to last turn. Good times.

He's one of my favorite guys to race against. Him and I talk quite often because we always seemed to be near each other on the track at the end of a race. Super nice guy, fast, and generally clean. When he does make a mistake or incident, he is usually immediately owning up to it.

I've started a hosted room if anyone is interested. GT3's @ Phillip Island(proper weather for week 4 race). I just bought the track & wanna learn it.
