Hey all!

Round 1 will be posted in the iRacing "hosted races" section in roughly a hour from now (check your GTPlanet PM boxes for the session password) 👍 As mentioned before practice will be open for 3 hours so I'm sure we will be getting a lot of people dropping in and out in that time. I wil be watching the re-airing of the Silverstone Formula 1 GP from 6-8 PM GMT, so I probably won't be able to get any laps under my belt in the practice session until about 8 PM GMT.

Heres to hoping for a soliid turn out and very enjoyable day of racing

Edit: I will post a few replays of today's event once I have time to figure out the capturing/editing software. So expect to see some videos posted sometime during the week 👍 If anyone else is experienced with capturing/editing and uploading iRacing replays to youtube I'm sure all of us would greatly appreciate your efforts as well

I had to take a guest to six flags, so i will miss the event :(

Great job with the thread btw, timeattack. a new video from the real mustang challenge was posted on youtube a few days ago :)

I can't seem to find our event in the Hosted racing sessions at the moment. Am I missing something?

Jordan you are not missing I was going to ask the same, hope it will appear for the qualifying session at 9 gmt

Something must have come up for timeattack, I'm going to host the session myself with the same password that he provided us with in the PM.

OK, I've finally got the session online. There's a 10 minute practice and a 20 minute qualifying, so we'll be running behind schedule a bit but at least we'll get to race.

Well, that was quite a disappointment. Only tingri and myself showed up for this race. You guys need to remember that iRacing charges the host of a race, and while we managed to have fun, it was mostly a waste of money. 👎

For what it's worth, I've attached our results.

Wow... :indiff:

Sad that this turned to go like that. I just closed my Bar and immediately open GTP-sites to read some exciting race-reviews... did not expect this kind of results. I must say that I was littlebit worried about participating cause so few only took part to these pre-race discussions.

Just think if you want me to ask some Finnish guys in too... they all are real gentlemens when it comes ask about racing-ethiquette. There is few Aliens too if you want to get beaten by large margin. :)

OMG..I just realized I made a huge mistake guys! :ouch: :nervous: I just looked up the GMT time and realized I created the the entire event an hour ahead of what I had scheduled, due to my thinking that I was minus 8 hours GMT and not 7 like in reality :dunce:

I'm extremely sorry for my mistake which caused you guys a lot of grief, as well as for Jordan to spend his money unnecessarily on a session of his own :guilty:

I was wondering why the turn out was so low ((but this explains it all ), as Carl and another fellow (sorry I forgot your name!) were the only ones in the entire session, because they happened to showed up well over an hour before my supposed time for qualifying.

Because of my rather ignorant mistake, I was thinking that instead of re-running Laguna for Round 1, we will do Road Atlanta next weekend (or whatever date gets the majority) for Round 1 and move Laguna Seca to the last round.

Let me know what you guys think. I'm still very much interested in getting this series running as long we can get a large enough turn out

Sorry again for my terrible mistake!

Phiuuh... nice to hear good reason for 'failed tech'. 👍 Next weeks RA sounds great! Love that track. Pity I must go to cottage for few days, I would rather do some testlaps and video. I'm so excited about my Sony Vegas! :D

Good night fellas... must sleep now. Too long workshifts.

Ah, that explains it, then. Looking forward to Road Atlanta!

I was the "other fellow". I knew I should have said something but I figured people would show up. I took a quick nap and ended up missing the start! I can host an open practice on Saturday if anyone would like to come. 5-9:00pm GMT

Ahh, i'm not really that surprised that it didn't turn out too well, no offense to timeattack. I think we a lot more time beforehand to gather MOAR interest. A little more activity inside the thread would be good too :)

How about this... Since iRacing cost a bit of bling, maybe we should start with a series of races with the Rookie Solstice first (kind of like preseason basketball)? It's in included in the basic plan (and most starter promos) along with 2 other cars and the 7 tracks. Since it's the basic plan, it's cheap, people should be more inclined to participate. Plus, we can go practice anytime we want without the hassle of hosting it ourselves (we just need to go at the same room/session :D). After a race or two (or more), new guys may get inclined to buy new tracks/cars, why? Because iRacing is awesome... and thus we can use other more high powered cars in the future :) or fixate it to the current one car series after we get more peeps to participate.

That just me though... 💡

p.s. i wish we had a banana man smiley 👎

I finally got around to posting some info on Round 1 @ Road Atlanta (see OP). Sorry it took so long, I was just hoping to see a few more people vote in on a time/date for Round 1.

Round 1 will begin tommorow (Sunday the 18th @ 6 PM GMT). Hope to see you guys out there! I will shoot everyone a PM in a just a few notifying them of the race date, as well as the iRacing session password 👍

I'm really waiting tonights race!

...though I yet haven't found seat-time at all to practice that combo. Grrr. I hope Mustang will be easy ride on RA.

I haven't gotten any seat time either  But I'm sure the Mustang will be a blast to drive around RA while not requiring too much seat time to get comfortable with the car 👍

Unfortunately I got a call in for a last minute job that I will have to take care of this morning. Regardless of whether or not I will be able to participate, today's race will still take place at the schedule times. I will try my best to take part, although I'd imagine I will be quite limited in my time to practice and set-up the car :nervous:

I've got nothing planned so i should be there for this race, though I have no setup and i've never raced here before...

I just created the session a moment ago 👍

I'll probably jump in for some practice laps in about a hour or hour and a half

Looking forward to a good turn out and great day of racing :)

Thanks to all... that was one great race-session!

Unbelievable that all who started race, broked 1:35.xxx... and Payne even 1:34!!!

👍👍👍

That was an awesome day of racing! 👍 :) Even despite my troubles in the race  Thanks to all of those who could make it, and well done to AutoAki on a flawless drive to victory! You will definitely be a tough competitor as the series progresses :scared:

Here are the results from todays race. I will post qualy results later on. Please send me a PM if I got your Iracing name and GTPlanet ID mixed up! As AutoAki said, it is quite amazing to see the entire fielld dip into the 35's or better during the race...well done all! 👍 Also sorry to cmp who had issues with the servers/connection during the race :nervous:

Congrats on the win, autoAki!

earlier today, i thought 1:38 would be an okay race pace -_-. I think my framerate problems may have been caused by vsynch being on? i will try just limiiting fps to 58 and turning vsynch off.

I was just watching the replay from today's race and noticed that my engine sounded considerably off/unhealthy throughout the race. Anyone know if this was possibly due to over revving the engine?

hmmm i think there may be damage from over revving but i am not sure. you can go on the oval and get up to speed then downshift to 1 and see.

NOTICE:

Since I don't have the ability to edit the poll in this thread unfortunately, I would like to get an idea for a race date/time for Round 2 @ Brands Hatch from everyone. For me, the same choices I voted on for Round 1 will work for Round 2 this coming week (19th-25th).

Edit:
you can count me in, i only got 4 outta the 8 tracks but ill show up

Mike Main

Sure thing Mike

Today's race was a ton of fun. The Mustang is a great car, and I like it better each time I drive it :) Congratulations to Aki (Kristian) on the win
And thanks to everybody for the race, and to TA (Brock) for hosting 👍

As far as timing for the next round, 4-8 GMT would be great for me then, and for pretty much every other race, but it's whatever everybody prefers. I can work around it :)

Last year when I started iRacing, I had similar problems... then I just lowered my graphic-settings and let frame-rates run free. Now I cant even think about FPS under 120. I highly recommend FPS over 100. It reduce overall lag what you see on your screen, and you dont miss apexes so easily. When I tried last time take some candies on, and my FPS was something between 60-80, my laptimes were 0.3-0.5 sec higher per minute. I have 60hz lcd-screen, but even that 120fps is way more smoothier.

I told this to one of my friend who really is deep in this technical stuff, and he said that what I feel is real. Then he started to tell me details why it is so, and after listening few minutes about that weird nerdy-language about some frequencies, I told him to shut up cause I was feeling some headache.

...and back to topic.

Damn I'm so frustrated at being stuck in work. I wanted to so much be at home and playing with yesterdays Replay and Sony Vegas. :( I hope I will have some energy at night when my shift ends... there seemed to be some great and thrilling racing just 2seconds behind me many laps. That's actually the main reason how I end up to runaway from you guys. I really was not fastest guy on there, but that fighting you had, ate atleast 0.5-0.8sec per lap imo. Everytime when I tried to littlebit ease my driving, the gap started to go smaller. It really was thrilling for me too... result page ain't telling a thing.

Hope to upload something tomorrow!
