Is anyone else disappointed with GT5?

Being a long time GT fan I have to admit this is NOT A REAL DRIVING SIMULATOR at all, but its a good start.

I've been racing online simulator for years and have to say PD does seem like they RUSH the game due to other polictal motives maybe, like EA coming out with Need For Speed and Forenza 3 already on the market. Then PD markets to the NASCAR fans where you can only start racing nacar type cars when you reach level 21...wth is that? The Jeff Gordon school really? One track for nascar? Daytona wheres Talledegga, Bristol, Darlington....come on? HELLO Qualifing?

ONLINE is CRAPOLA! Go back to the drawling board and ask for some help from the folks at iRacing.com they have it down for online racing simulator.

I am dissapointed for the 6/5/4 year wait but I am still having fun racing the A Spec...B Spec is way boring but I do it when I do not have anything else to do...which is almost like never.

ANYWAY i hope more patches and updates come soon. I probally will not buy another GT game.

Well before yesterday I knew the AI was bad, unaware of you, just doing stupid unrealistic things all the time, but yesterday I noticed something very troubling, that it's actually scripted.

I kept starting a race over and over, and there was maybe like 6-8 cars in front of me on the starting grid, cant remember, a good amount of them though. I kept restarting due to mistakes, well every single time every car in front me took the same exact route to start the race, and heading into the first turn. It was literally identical.

There was even a white car on the right side of the track that kept doing this aggressive move where he would quickly cut torwards the middle of the track. He did this every time I restarted. This is just complete *******. Its been a very long time since I played a game with AI programming this bad.

I am not trying to defend it because it bothers me as well but it has been like this in every GT. Even GT5P had the same scripted A.I. every race.

I really noticed it in GT5P and then I went back and did GT4 again and saw it was there too. I only started noticing it because of Forza 3, where the A.I. was so dynamic that it was fun just to watch it jockey for position. When people say the A.I. is better in Forza, most fanboys don't understand that while not perfect, Forza's A.I. is light-years ahead.

very dissapointed - the AI is the worst AI that I raced against in a PS3 game

it feels worst than the AI from GT4 - maybe because theres more ramers than before (used to be only 8)

bought a 2000.00 credit car drove around a track once went to the garage and it asked me 500.00 to fix the body - did that drove another clean lap -returned to the garage and it asked me 500.00 again to do the same thing :grumpy:👎:ouch:

cmon who put my real life mechanic in the GT5 garage???? the biggest problem is that in GT I cant try to find a diferent mechanic- one that isnt trying to rip me off all the time

It's clear to me that you are not researching what you dislike.... That thing to fix the body will stay on 500, because it's like that. You don't need to repair it until the car is undriveable in a straight... And btw dude, alot of people here are above 30's, so posts like that will only get answered with a headshake and a little sarcasmic smile... Use the search button in this forum...

Gah, yeh just realized this recently when I tried to save a setup, effing ridiculous, I seem to find more flaws the more I play.

All you're other points are spot on too, alot of the same points I made in an earlier post in this thread, glad it's just not me that's hacked off about so many problems with the game.

Hopefully this gets a fix because GT5P had multiple setups.

Oh and the un-customizable gears in the strangely enough named """fully customizable transmission"""

This all adds up to the fact that this game wasn't tested in the least. I just can't see how it could have been.

I HAVE A VERY IMPORTANT QUESTION
Are there any premium prize cars that are not sold in dealerships or standard ones that weren't found in the used car dealership? I really wanna know but don't want to spoil too much prize cars for myself. I know there's the Art Morrison Corvette somewhere as well as some other cars but I want to be sure.
It would be very disappointing if all the prize cars are purchasable.

We are just voicing our opinion, nothing more, nothing less. I am hoping GT6 will fix the flaws. Until then, we will continue to enjoy this game as it is.

Yes, but please talk in the first person, because "we" is a wrong choice for a reply on one off the best posts in this forum. I really hope i'm not in the "we" part of your post. Because that's the last thing i want, being a very personal dude on alot off things.

Did u tune up the rest of the transmission?

When actually playing the game, one thing got me truly disappointed:

weatherwtf.png

When I first drove a car in the rain with the cockpit view (and it was one of the first things I did when I started the game), and saw the water on the windscreen I actually thought "they fooled us".

The difference between the actual game and the video that first showed rain is HUGE. Sad, really.

I'm glad someone else also noticed that to the point of creating this image.

Other than that, my main grips with game were before it was released, and it was the news about the Standard cars and, when we first saw the complete car list, the lack of recent hot hatches.

EDIT: By the way: having said that, I love playing this game.

I love this game, but considering how long it has taken PD to make it it should have been a LOT better. I think they will be fixing most of the problems with patches by the looks of it but that shouldn't really be necessary. I haven't tried online racing yet but from what I've heard it's not nearly good enough so I'll be leaving that well alone till it's fixed.

You're an extremely annoying poster that uses speculation instead of facts. We're no Forza fanboys smartass, we're GT fans who feel deceived by GT5. This is only going to get worse, lots of my friends feel the same way and they also looked on the internet and saw all these people discussing the same issues. Stop pretending everything is alright with GT5, and stop flaming Forza, this has nothing to do with Forza.

He is'nt, he's just saying that gt5 physics are better then forza's, wich is true by the way. And has been confirmed by many racers (real life racers) across the planet...

In that post you quoting he's not pretending anything. What i hate about this "hate" thread is that nobody may say a positive thing or they get flamed...

Well prepare, i'm gonna flame anyone off you i feel like is saying to much hate about the best epic driving game on a console... How's that, it's just the same but black becomes white and white becomes black...

Oh there's a song about this by the way:

Which was never in question, so didn't require him to say it over and over again.

I am so loving this thread. Its the most satisfying read I've had in ages ... why? Read on dear friends...

I quite understand the defence of Gran Turismo 5, and the poor PS3 - I really do. If I'd spent the best part of $400 on the console for GT5, I'd not want to admit I was wrong either. I'd defend it, and I'd certainly display the exact kind of bitterness and resent that a large number of people here are showing - of course these people are angry and resentful, they've just been given the run around, by what could be one of the best hype-for-your-cash exercises in gaming history.

Thankfully, I waited (only just though, they nearly got me hooked with their media hype) and now, oh my, I haven't laughed so much in my entire life. No wonder the poor PS fanboys are stinging. Ironic really that the man responsible for such a game has initials like KY, when no amount of KY could possibly eliminate the sting of what has been shoved up peoples chuffs, dressed as the "Real Driving Simulator". Everyone that has played it, knows the faults, some choose to admit them, some choose to ignore them - whatever your persuasion in this area - there is a better way...

Ladies and Gentlemen, the door to the Forza lounge is open, you only have to step through it (and stop being so stubborn, we (Forza players, most of whom are actually ex-GT fanboys anyway) don't all like it for a joke, or because MS said we should - its because its genuinely a better game, with more freedom and tuning options to die for) and sample the joy, its ok, we won't hold it against you. We'll merely be glad that, just like I did years ago when I abandon GT4 and moved to Forza 2, that you'd made the step towards something not perfect certainly (hey, even Forza 3 has its issues) but far superior.

Nobody will force you to put the V12 from the LP640 into your Gallardo, or make your Dodge Viper(s) 4WD, or make you stick various other VW engines into your Mk1 Golf to turn it into the car it always should have been, we won't "force" you no. But, know that should you want to - you "can" do such things, for entertainment, for an experiment, or just for the sheer hell of it. Why? Because in our world, the gamer has freedom, and a huge stack of events (100 hours+) in which to exercise it. Personally, I like the Chevrolet Aveo with RWD and a Corvette LS1 V8 in it. Dangerous as it is.

Come to the dark side, not only do we have cookies, but we have visual tyre flex, fantastically bonkers tuning options, and a paint shop that you can use freely, to genuinely make your cars ... your own.

Nobody used to hate Microsoft, and for that matter, the Xbox more than me. But the time has come to realise, that actually - many millions of people aren't wrong. I was.

So that a hidden steering wheel takes over constantly? no thanks, in my personal opinion, i'm better off with gt5, wich is woooooooooot, foching amazing!:)👍

Yes, try golding the last license...:nervous:👍

Im 38 and a «was» huge fan of the GT series - english isnt my native language so I probably didnt express myself the best way. but you try speaking or writing in portuguese and we'll see...

in GT4 you would only be asked more money for repairs after 500/1000 km racing not 2 km

I'm back on Forza almost daily, but I'm hitting the career mode hard, haven't played online in months I must admit.

I'm actually more enjoying it for the sake of driving to be honest, sad as that sounds!

Indeed, what wheel do you play GT5 with, on what kind of setup: arcade/pro/sim? skid recovery on/off, grip on rain and next to track REAL?
TCS, ABS, ASM,.... How did you test them?

Actually do you even drive a wheel?

Because i hate people talking about physics without even something proper in their hand to feel the physics....

Not saying you do that, but reading that and using my humble logic mind, it certainly feels like that...

It feels weird guys, after reading 40 pages, that mostly only americans dislike the game totally....

To much national pride?

I am talking in third person, speaking for those of us that are disappointed. If you don't fall into that category, there is no need to worry yourself. Carry on son.

I tried going back to Forza 3 last night, just for a quick blast from the past.

But the physics feel so dated now, after playing GT5
Odd, I went back to FM3 as well, and I was like...I think GT5 should have taken better notes.

Yes true, but that amount you get now will stay the nubmer you say it is, because it'll cost that much no matter how hard you crash in future or not. So only the pop up after the second crash or bump or whatever is there is new, but the rest stays the same, you DON'T HAVE TO REPAIR, because it tells you it will cost a thing!! The car will feel worse after 1000 km, so then you repair with the ridicously small amount off 500 euro's dollars, whatever...

So basically, you can threat it just the same like gt4, until the update of the beginning of december offcourse, when it all will change...💡

I'm not worried, not your son, and i'm not carrying on, i'm gonna go head to head in the discussions, instead of just sitting here and nodding yes.

I hope that is possible, or is this literally: THE HATE THREAD?
If so, i'm not a hater, so it could be time to carry on...

What ever floats your boat. 👍

This game could have been so much more.

*They could have put more events
*They could have expanded on the Top Gear challenges
*They could have integrated at least half of the NASCAR schedule
*They could have incorporated weather & time of day into all tracks (at least have on/off options even if it wasn't dynamic)

That's just a few things that could have been expanded on to make a better game. PD already coded these into the game, why not apply it across the board?

Have you calculated how much the cell is working now, how much is possible to PD to put on the disk, do you know about the future updates, what will be implemented? maybe it is not just coded into the game, but coded into the track...

Are you a programmer, or a modeller, or a game producer?...

It's pushing ps3's limits and you guys go like, they could've added this and that.... maybe read this:

Yeh the fact is the core mechanic of the game, the driving is still far supirior in GT, even with all the assist turned off forza still feels rather arcadey.

Maybe they should just release a finished game to us, not a beta that has three 133mb patches within a week, with more coming.

I want a finished product for my $60, not a product that requires more and more bandaids.

it was better before...

and

do you realize that this thread maybe something that will help the developers turn the game into something better?

I could care less about forza or Iracing or whatever - I started playing racing games with chequered flag and pole position but it wasnt until GT3 that I got really hooked.
I could care less about costumization or 3d or...

what I would like is to have a game that has grown 6 years in development to be at least as entertaining and its previous version - and not to have to quit my job just to be able to grind away to the very short end quickly because Im feed up with it already but always waiting for that cheery on top that never comes. as in the last two It wasnt about getting there quick it was the pleasure of the ride

maybe Im not making myself very clear - probably because my mind isnt thinking straight after the huge AI ramming sessions of yesterday
