Well said. When people rebut your argument by nitpicking your "prose", not the argument, you can safely assume that some bias is forcing their hand... Life experience? Really? Why even respond, not every anti-GT comment has to be defended. God know theres a lot.

I’m with you I can’t stand this game where do I begin on how bad this game is compared to the previous installments...

1. Since this is a Auto racing game lets begin with the cars I really don’t much care about a Kubelwegen or the Schwimmwagen even the sambabus that out of the VW Dealership along with many other cars throughout the new and used car dealerships I thought this was a racing game not a car show game who and the.

2. Since were on the subject of Dealerships let’s talk about the prices of these cars 25,000,000 credits for a car it well take you over and beyond the amount of time in a day racing the same race over and over again that becomes boering just to buy a car to do one race.

3. About those races so you bought that 20,000,000 credit car and you race in the old school race series what is your prize an accumulative total of 80,000 credit's and a Lancia STRATOS Rally Car '77 with a price of 250,000 credits in the used car dealership less than 1% the cost of the car you bought to race in the 2 races or here’s a funny one the Lupo GT race guess what your prize is? Another Lupo! “Great now I have two cars I’m never going to use in this game”. And the madness goes on and on.
3. The graphics only 204 of the 907 (not 1000 like they say) are in High Def graphics.

4. the Music dear good I’m not some 45 year old gamer I don’t even know what bossanova is and you call that Jazz no my friend Miles Davis, Thelonious Monk is Jazz that is something form a whole nether world that is just bad on some many levels

5. Speaking of Levels what is up with the level rankings so I have to be at a certain level to buy a car wow that is just stupid and B-spec level is so boreing. I don’t even watch my own replays why do I want to watch a fake race.

Look all and all I really give this game a 5 out of 10 the reason why I say 5 out of 10 instead of a 1 out of 10 is because it’s a Half ass job by Kazunori Yamauchi I still say the best Gran turismo is still Gran Turismo 2 because what you got was worth more than the price of the game

Well, good luck saying things like "other games do (driving feel) far better" and not offering up one title. Since even I gave a genre, I'll also give some actual "others"

  • Live For Speed
I know some people love rFactor, but I didn't care for it and don't feel like chasing down the dozens - perhaps hundreds of mods to make it something I'd enjoy. However, the differences between GT5 and these "holy grail" sims is very minor. I know some people think I'm unfair for intentionally leaving out iRacing, but I don't consider a game so boutique in the same category as any video game that to get it all and then do things like host races you have to spend perhaps $200 or more.

what updates? ive logged on every day since it has come out and not one time has it tried to load an update..... there should be THOUSANDS of updates before this game is through.

I'm not sure how you'd justify thousands of updates, unless you're thinking of downloading things like bodykits and wheels individually. ;)

But how you've been playing GT5 and not having it update at least twice is baffling. Just about everyone on the planet with broadband access has updated to version 1.03. If you mean something substantial like 50 new Premium cars or five new tracks, or new A-Spec events, or a fix to the credit or XP system, or even half of what was proposed for an online system, okay, we're all in the same boat on that. I have no clue when those kinds of updates are coming, and it's up to SONY to get on the ball to upgrade the capacity of the Playstation Network. That however is going to be a slow upgrade. MS has been working on theirs since the 90s, so SONY has some serious catching up to do.

All I know is something is coming. Limited damage has been added to online, so I know things are in the works. Let's hope that Kaz is having some people collating our complaints and suggestions, at least for our level of dissatisfaction. They did produce four magnificent games. All they need to do is to look at what they did in GT4, and do much of that as updates to GT5. And online when SONY gets sufficient server resources running.
 
I guarantee you that they had planned for this for awhile. So much so that they will find a way to capitalize off of every pack that comes out for this game. That way instead of $60 per every gt5 fan they will generate well over $200, the profits would be exponential...
 
I'm beginning to dislike it! I'm level 30 A-spec and 20 B-spec. Was really looking forward to the Vettel challenge, but realized after hours of trying that i can't make it happen with the ds3 controller. I like challenges but this is really frustrating.
 
Some of these comments make me feel like I made the wrong decision in picking up a ps3 for the holidays. I may end up returning it. It just sounds like it is a lot of work and a lot of hours which I don't think I can currently give it.

i was talking about updating standard cars to premium cars and just changes in general. whether they be individual updates or not. they still have plenty of work to do, and THAT is what i was getting at.


and i dont know how to check what version im at. but im pretty sure it hasnt updated at all. im at A spec level 23 and B spec level 4. just fyi.

So you are the answer to everyone who posts here? Like you know,see more/better, lol. I've been around racing now 32 years ( I'm 41 ). So just a heads up and I can post pictures. I've owned the car you have in you avie since the 1990's in fact ( nice 99 front end ) and many other sports cars. Also, I think people levels kinda speak of the time invested in the game. So they might have some good insight to what they are talking about..... just maybe. I could have kept going... Load times on every action taken.... play for as much as some of us have and man those load times do get to you. I do not hate the game at all. I like everyone here have loved it since the PS1. It just needs some fixing is all. Like everyone else who's posted in here.

im not trying to be "the answer to everyone who posts here" im just posting my opinions. i have NOT been a racer and have NOT raced hundreds of cars but from just my car alone i can tell how real these physics are. i drive my car pretty hard. and from your other posts it did seam like you hated the game.

all i hope to acheive on this forum is to post my opinions and hope that someone important is reading them.

the load times do suck but ive gotten used to it.

You don't need to return your PS3 as there are good games for it.

The problem is, there are too dang many people who will be doing exactly that; paying for stuff that should have been there from the beginning.

The fact that you can't save it or back it up anywhere is pathetic. Whoever made this decision needs to be tarred and feathered. There have many instances of PS3 hardrives losing data even on the humble old Ps1 you could save your games to memory card and the cards were cheap and easy to move around and hide. So if you get burgled too you can't back it up to a USB stick and hide it somewhere so you have to start all over again. I can't believe they overlooked such a basic Goddamn feature. Someone needs to be fired for this and we need to have a patch that allows backups NOW!!

👍 This is also my biggest worry, what is PS3 brakes, if it gets stolen, etc.

How the hell is possible they didnt think about that, stoopid fockers.

I want to backup/copy my save file, i bought the friking game, i should be able to focking copy the file!

Well that is a problem too, because we all want to enjoy GT5 to its fullest. Not to mention the casual and general crowd who think GT5 is good as it is.

Maybe you're right, I can try and wait until I can find the game for under $35 and play some cheaper ps3 games until then. By that time, maybe some updates will make the game better
 
Let's put it this way, I spend a lot more time on this site than I do playing this game. Ive lost interest in it already. Might come back in 6 months once its been updated.... a lot.
 
I've won all the Level 20 and 21 events in the top level of races.

Yet I can't do any of the Level 22 events.

This sums up most of what is wrong with GT5.
 
One thing I've learned during my short time here is that console racers are a much whinier bunch than PC racers. I come on the forums for help and information and the front page is full of 'this sucks' threads. It's quite tiring weeding through the forum. I wish they would just merge all the threads into this one.

A lot of PC players get their games for free, somehow it doesn't seem comparable.

I stopped playing WoW almost a year ago and while the threads here are starting to resemble the 1st page of General Discussion and PVP I don't think it's quite that bad yet.

I play Iracing myself, it caters more to a older crowd than any other sim. It is also not a highly anticipated continuation of a very popular series, so I am not surprised it has less people complaining.

GT5 had a lot to live up to and it is not really contended that it fell short.
 
This game is just a disappointment from what it should have been.

I am 1/2 way through level 27 and I have pretty much given up on A-Spec. I have completed everything in the game and I am not even close to level 28.......... if I wanted to grind levels I would go play an MMO not a racing game.

At this point all I do is log on every couple days to drive a random care around the nurburgring. Hopefully this beta will be fixed with an update soon.
 
Can anybody get to the "Options" menu in 2P Battle mode before going into a race? I'm assuming that this is where you can select boost, etc. The tab is at the top of the screen, but the race starts without ever letting you get to the options screen.

Also... any word on when/if replays will be made available in 2P Battle Mode? I reeeeeally miss that!!
