is gt4 as good as you expected?

No, GT4 isn't as good as I expected. 700+ cars, 50 tracks, photomode, B-spec. All well but I expected to see more new things on the game. GT has always stayed the same, 6 cars on a track, thats it. And that is what's beginning to bother me. I hope to see a bigger field, better AI, etc. in GT5

I thought that maybe the PS2 wouldn't handle more then 6 cars? I wouldn't understand why the PS2 couldn't handle more then that though. The cars are as stupid as a rock so i thought it wouldn't be such a hard thing to add more cars.

i think its more because of fps (frame per second)
those car are really well modeled, it suck some juice!! :dopey:

and the ps2 dont have a big processor, its surprisingly nice for that power.
gt1 and gt2 was a revolution, its hard to have a revolution again after that.

gt3 was good, but people dont like the fact that it have less car than gt2, now gt4 have more car, but its not enought. i know the game miss some improvement,

but IMO its still the best. even more than GTR, i have GTR, played it a lot, skin a lot of car, but it get boring too after a while, think about it,

im sure you play GTR 1 year and you will be bored, gt series is here since what...1999 or so... not bad , we still keep interest for a game 6-7 years old.

its hard to beat if you want me.

and if you have no more than a P4 (or equivalent) GTR will not be sooo good,

i have a AMD2200 1gig ddr, fx5700(overclocked) , and the game run fine but when i play a championship,i cant play with more than 2 other AI without lag.

to play with 5 other AI , i need to bring down some graphic options, wich is now not very good looking, but online its good.

with a good machine everything is fine.

sorry offtopic,

i think the online version will change many thing and will bring back the flame. 👍

GT4 is not the best driving sim ever, but it's currently the best on the PS2.

What will be really interesting, though, is ToCA3. It stands the chance of blowing GT4's doors off, doing all that they plan for it to be capable of doing (improved physics, GREAT sound, 10 on-line, a better on-line tracking system, damage engine, GREAT graphics, a head-tracking system, etc.), all on this old console! The PS2's best kept secret. 👍

As my title indicates, I am most dissatisfied with GT4's quality. The game is no more than a good or late beta. It is full of holes, weird physics and bugs (and more are found each week), the AI is still childishly poor, and content is missing. It's an unfinished product and I wish more of you would speak out about this aspect. Pray that the Greatest Hits version fixes all of these things!

I love this game, but, come on PD, get real!

Cheers,

MasterGT

OMG, THANK YOU MASTERGT YOu said it all a Beta Release of a GT game, THANK GOD SOMEONE FEELS THE WAY I DO.. How many bugs and holes does the game needs for all these FanBoys to realize what is going on.. I hope all you younger people and Fanboys speak up with yoru dissapointments, because MasterGT hit it on the head and the more u speak up the greater the chance things might change.. I am personnally exceptionally dissapointed with GT4, Yes its still a GT game, YES its still the best racer on ps2, NO its not a complete game, NO PD shouldnt of spent more time on "Content" then they did on Create a "GAME" remember people this is supposed to be a "GAME" lost of these aspects brings gt4 to a lower level then what it should be to uphold the title of "Best Racer"

grantugorismohp
we all know that granturismo is the best racing game ever made on the market.
Speak for yourself. To me GT4 is a driving simulator as it says on the package. And yes, there is racing in the game, but IMO the game isn't a racing game or if it is I'll say it's very poor racing game. Anyway, I think GT4 is quite good game. My answer to the topic: No, GT4 is not as good as I expected. No need to explain, it just isn't.

Now, back to play Richard Burns Rally 'til ToCA3 comes out...

I think there are alot of things they couldve improved on...personally I wouldve rather had them give us 1/2 the cars but no screen shake, maybe damage, more clear gear adjustment screen like in the origonal & more cars racing at the same time...in addition to a bunch of other small things.

GT4 feels too slow, they should have it mixed with something like NFSU & Burnout to have some sense of speed. Yes, I love the cars, the graphics, the sounds, photomode and everything else, but it's simply not fast enough for me...

Gran Turismo is more than I expected simply because I lowered all expectations after GT3. It disappointed me... and besides, I only use GT4 for drifting (and even there, the physics engine isn't all it could be). Oh well, it's more, but that doesn't make it a good thing.

Its now a little over 4 month ago that I started playing the game. Over this period, my view and opinion about the game has definetly changed :
I still like the fact that they have given us a wide range of cars, and also that they have given us some really good racetracks. It is for the Ring alone I would have bought the game....There the game was/is as good as I expected it to be.

But: I also was disapointed:
- The sound of the cars is not exciting (I dont have surround) and does in many cases not enhance the game play.

- The AI doesnt give me the satisfaction (hard position battles) I was hoping for.

- The main menu is not user friendly at all. The garage is a mess (despite the search functions) and to find at time the right car for the right race takes more time than the race itself....

- The career modes are too quickly played and dont offer longetivity in gameplay. The fact you can not save the endurance races is idiotic. You are forced (most of us) to use b-spec for those events, and I still wonder what the point of that really is...

- The cars: I think it is nice to have certain historic and funny cars (e.g. autounion, FIAT 500, etc) in the game. I like that a lot. I dont like the fact that too many ''similar cars'' (e.g. the Skylines) are in the game, while some cars are not in it at all (e.g Pontiac TransAm, Saabs, etc)
