It's been several months since we've seen our last DLC. The competition (if you want to call it that) is blossoming with new cars regularly. Us fans hold on to hopes of news by checking daily for something, but theres nothing time and time again. Is Kaz and his team focusing there energy on the next generation of the series? Is the game dead?

Only if you want it to be. Just because DLC hasn't been released doesn't mean a game is just dead all of a sudden.. Besides, Motegi was leaked in GT Academy and chances are it'll be coming to GT5 when the Academy finishes up. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.

I feel like it might be. But to be honest, PD is known for communicating to their fanbase.

If there wouldn't be more DLC or any new future content for GT5, I'm sure that Mr. Yamauchi would've told us already.

My bets are that we'll have one more major update (probably Spec III), and one more DLC car/track pack.

That will be the final update for GT5. Fingers crossed. :)

If the next update have saving endurance race feature and fast foward b spec races then I might play again. Otherwise, I am sticking to online play.

They can't go on updating it forever. At some point they'll have to turn eyes to GT6.

Mid endurance race saves were implemented a while ago. :odd:

I hope the game isn't dead, I planned on playing some this weekend.;) Mini rant, that is such an overused phrase, is blah blah dead. Why is it whenever someone on the internet becomes bored with something or doesn't like it it is dead? Hardcore gaming is dead, motion controls are dead, portable systems are dead, PS3 is dead, XBOX360 is dead, GT5 is dead, it's all dead if you believe forums.

To answer your question is GT5 dead, no, it is not. I was just on and it still works. People are still playing and enjoying the game. They are still updating the Seasonals and OCD on a weekly basis. From the leaked photos of Twin Ring Motegi it seems PD is still updating and adding to it. When the servers shut down, GT6 is released, and the game implodes on itself then you can say it's dead. Until then, I'm going to enjoy what I find to be a very very good game.

Don't they make good $$$ on each DLC?

Doesn't Sony need $$$?

P.S. Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?

👍 Awaits angry posts from people who don't get it and write back to point out your mistake.

I hope they will never do that ... it will be too easy... and too easy to get lots of money... ridiculous... do it like everybody... do bspec when watching tv...(change input during b spec is runnin) you dont even need to watch , just press x each every 2 or 3 minutes loll

1. Partially. Development of GT6 is underway, however more content is expected to come. If Prologue is precedent, PD will announce when GT5 is over (albeit likely long after, like Prologue). Also of note, no one knows if it'll be on the PS4 or 3, but that's for another thread, and another time (search).

2. This game is far from dead. If Prologue si precedent, expect Spec 3. We'll see what happens after GT Academy.

GT5 is now quite old and moves very slowly, when it moves at all. The trickle of DLC might come again now that GT Academy has been released, but at this point it all feels pretty stagnant. Racing AI can only be entertaining for so long, and online is way too messy to be worth the time imho. I wish they would/could make a solid online mode. If GT6's online sucks I won't be seduced into buying it.

*massive sigh of "are you kidding me??" and overall disappointment in the human race.*

What! Are you all Philistines?

Note to the OP. Heard of Academy 2012? That's what PD have been doing.

Are we talking about the same PD here?

PD has never been good at communicating to or with the fan-base at all, while things have got a bit better for GT5 its still a long way from what could be called good.

Personally I think we will get the content from the GTA (track and some themed cars) and that's likely to be it. If we do get more content after that I would personally like it to be more in the vein of Spa and not Route X.

Oh and just because the DLC ends doesn't mean the game is 'over', that point will come on pretty much and individual basis for each player, as an example GT3 and Enthusia are still not over for me.

Scaff

Agreed even if we get no more dlc ill still be playing gt5.

Im still playing gt2 after all these years.

Dead? Certainly not. Is my love of it waning? You bet. Every time I see a car pack released for the competitor, I cringe in envy, that combined with the fact that either Sony or PD's servers getting bogged down ruins my experience with the game, such as the game flat out hanging while trying to enter GTlife ffs.

Never dead for me ...even though on some days I will just go in, pick up a favourite car, take it to GT Auto and try to find the perfect paint job! Yes I know ...that is not much at all but for some reason I just cannot put this game away. Daily contact is a health requirement for me.

As someone who plays both I have to say that apart from Spa, the competitor has dealt the whole DLC thing far better than PD have, and in terms of communication are exactly who PD and Sony should be learning from.

With GT5 we never know what coming and when, the Porsche pack with FM4 has been communicated well in advance and now has a two car a day reveal. This is what PD need to start doing if not for GT5 then for GT6.

I'll never stop playing GT5...and it's fine to have a girlfriend who likes to paint my cars and her goal is to paint every car i have...ok, its sometimes hard to see her to paint my cars really strange, but ok...so they will have a special touch...and she painted now about 200 of 1050 cars :)

Apart from GTA 2012, I'm pretty sure that GT6 is where their major efforts are being directed. Hence the scraps (eg: programmed seasonals) that are being thrown our way to shut us up.
