Not particularly. I still drive with the racing line sometimes. IMO its whatever floats people's boats.

Yes to both. The people who use them normally cannot drive without them, and are thus labelled as children or noobs of the Gran Turismo world and rightly so.

Sometimes I used the driving line, mostly for visual braking points though. I do find my self getting tunnel vision and just following the line though and not experimenting. The driving line is not necessarily the best line especially on user created tracks. Plus I start freaking out when people are infront of me and I can't see it. I don't think SRF should be used at all unless your really having trouble completing an objective.

Play the game however you want using what aids you want. Who cares if others think your a noob. :)

Skid Recovery Force. :)

never used that that. i use abs 1 and on a few cars i also use traction control at 1....have no idea if this actually does anything. my opinion is that anything other than a minimal abs setting will make you slower.

Good response so far! What do you guys think of ABS? I personally think having it on is not 'nooby', but what is your opinion?

Well, having ABS off with a pad is difficult not to lock up. So I'd say ABS is fine to have.

SFR definitely is. In fact offline game play feels like online with SFR . So offline I try to use less of a tire in whatever race so when i go online the car with better tires it feels closer.

The line is too sort of. I see using to learn a track but i found out early on that i was faster with out it. You will learn track cues instead of the line. Just following the line can lead you into trouble when racing with others. Knowing the track and where you can be on it helps you make a decision when overtaking and being setup for the next turn.

Biggest thing I hate about some guys that use the line online is they dont brake for any cars in front of them cause they are watching the line to turn RED. This is where it hurts you and can get you kicked for being dirty. Even though you werent trying to be.

500th POst!!

......and I think ABS depends on the car. If you're using ABS with a vehicle that does not have it, then yes 'noobish'. I only use ABS with vehicles that cannot have it turned off. And no, not every car can keep ABS turned off.

I don't think it's nooby to have these aids on if you can't drive without them, because otherwise you would be crashing into people. However people who can drive without SRF should try not to so races are more fair.

I've personally never used the racing line but I can't see it offering any advantage if someone is using it, I'd rather they brake slightly early than crash into whoever is ahead of them and it could help them learn the racing line.

As for ABS I think most people use it so it can't really be considered nooby, turning it off just makes driving more challenging.

No i dont think any of them are. Not remotely.
I drive with them on because i like a proper pedal to the metal thrash, where i mash the throttle and i know the back end will stick, its more exciting IMO. With it off im tip toeing round, not knowing when to put the power down and i just dont enjoy it.

^^ Why do people always have to have arguments

But i dont see it as 'noobish', for me its simple, i enjoy driving with them on, without them the enjoyments dissapears. It all depends on how people drive.

I think they make the game less realistic. That being said, you bought the game, play it how you like. People like to get all egotistical on boards. Play for you, not to impress a made up name on a board.

Knowing when to mash the pedal so it sticks is a huge part of the fun. Your missing out
And tcs is fine its a great technology used on many cars well but diving line is just not even driving to your style if u just follow blindly

Not really, no.

They're just tools to use to tailor the game to your tastes. I prefer to turn the driving aids off most of the time, but occasionally I'm stuck on a challenge or race that bores me and I'd like to get past as fast as possible, so I adjust as necessary.

I tend to keep the driving line on because only in a video game will you drive such a wide variety of cars on a wide variety of tracks in such a ridiculously short period of time. In the real world you'll spend hours with one car on one track and get to know it very well. The line makes the game more enjoyable because it allows me to at least have some idea of where to put the car when I'm swapping around so frequently.

And that is a noobish question. lol! Skid Force Reduction I'm pretty sure.

👍

It's a game and is meant to be played in the manner that is most enjoyable for the player. I enjoy the challenge when things are difficult but if you want a relaxing cruise at high speed, by all means, go for it. Oh and flip the tools the bird for me when you pass them, would ya?

Depends on the situation, 99% of the cars in GT5 are easy to drive with SRF off anyway once you get used to it. I use SRF on the FGT because I am mad that they stole the downforce (compared to GT3/4 FGT's). All other cars it should be off. I always use ABS 1, TC 1 for starting but TC quickly goes off once I have got up to 4th gear.

👍 +1

I never run with SRF unless forced to by the game. I usually do not run with TC unless its with the FGT. I run almost always ABS 1 due to using a DS3 (but never use it when running with the X2010).
