Is it just a matter of time until GT gets the F1 licence, or will it never happen?

Will GT ever get the full F1 licence, and do you want it to happen?

I wish the Indy 500 was an FGT Race! ;.;

Just do what I did- a One make race in practice mode in the FGT for 200 laps at Indy. Most fun id ever had in an endurance race. And since every car had a different color, i was like "Oh theres Danica! Theres Helio! Theres Will Power!"

Trust me, its fun. I found Roof cam especially nice.

I wish people would come to realise that it is the FIA that handles licensing, not Burnie/FOM.

It's not the FIA. Formula One Group (who own FOM and it's sister companies) owns licensing, the FIA are world motorsports governing body which any race series which has more than two races outside one country falls under it's jurisdiction.

I mean, it seems F1 teams really love GT. Ferrari has had F1 cars in 3 GT titles, and Im pretty sure theres none in Forza. Red Bull apparently wanted to be in GT5 so bad they found a loophole in the FIA agreement and made a whole new "Futuristic" F1 car. Jordan also said in a news post from the Launch Party that a F1 team rep said they "desperately" wanted to be in GT5. Im implying this is McLaren, as Red Bull/Ferrari were already in, and a McLaren rep would be there for GT5's inclusion of the MP4-12C(unless anyone can think of another F1 team that would have been invited).

I would have thought GT getting the F1 licence was impossible just 2 years ago, but then again, the teams apparently love it, GT5 has gotten the NASCAR licence(which I never ever ever ever thought would happen) and WRC licence(another FIA championship). GT also has a couple F1 circuits already made in Suzuka, Monza, Nurburgring GP, Indianapolis Road Course, and Monaco. F1 seems to mant a standalone multiplatform game though, ex. F1 2010(aka buggy mess). But, then again, sony has held the F1 licence before, so itll know how to get it again. PD will have to add more tracks though, due to the wineing now trademarked with the GT community, and the "Give a mouse a cookie, hes going to want some milk" idea. So PD will need to make Spa Franchorchamps, Silverstone, Hockenheim(with the old set-up as well, of course), and maybe even the eye candy tracks as well such as Singnapore, China, and Abu Dahbi. All which is a lot of work, which will take lots of time and resources from other parts of the game.

So do you think PD will get the F1 licence in time for a GT5 dlc, GT6, or will they never even get it? Or will they not want it due to the time and perfection f1/gt fans expect? Do you even want gt to have it?

Codemasters is the only reason it isn't in GT5 the producer is too selfish from what ive heard.

I've got Codemasters game and the damage modeling is awesome but its still not as good as it could have been for a focused F1 game and the career is pimp with real FIA regulations and restrictions for 2010 F1 season.

But I have to say for a focused F1 game it's simulation is hideous the graphics I could say that its as good as GT5 , without the real simulation everything is completely ruined and that's what F1 2010 Codemasters is.

the codemaster f1 is just too selfish
(that's what I use to describe it but I do not mean it well that's what I know at least)

But without a doubt the FIA would let GT5 have full license I mean even Sebastian Vettel on his own played all Gran Turismo's and I know some F1 drivers like Adrian who have played and has much more respect than any other game for its simulation and experience from like 10 years ago.

Obviously some people think F1 is overrated but trust me on this if you hear an F1 car once in real life your point of view on motorsports racing will be changed for ever. Its mostly about the sound but the performance is just some more than 20-30 seconds a lap faster than a GP bike or on a straight line the F1 car is still faster than anything that is made to go around the corners.

I would love to see and drive the McLaren MP4-25 , Red Bull RB6 - the fastest cars in formula 1 at least but to see everything would be nice. All cars in Formula 1 have different aerodynamic rules and different engines but almost the same specifications because of the regulations and restrictions and they do not sound the same in anyway you could only say its the same for its 18,000 rpm loudness but the McLaren MP4-25 just sounded the most brutal I have ever heard of , next to that is the Ferrari F10 different sound detail too and the rest are just fine like the Renault engine they used in the RB6 that won the World driver's Championship and World constructor's Championship but anyway I do not think anything can copy an F1's sound even in youtube if there was to be a 1000% that's nothing compared to the real sound and its not just the loudness its the sound detail too.

if its not going to happen on GT5 then it should be in GT6 :)

but maybe its about the producer of GT5 too having problems about marketing with Bernie Eccelstone "I mean that would entitle and involve money" I mean it won't be cheap for the most parts of the licensing but who knows what happened but for sure there is a reason why it isn't here and whatever reason that is wether its about money or profiting GT5 with F1 license deals would gain much much more at the end.

Heck, if we never get another F1, I hope PD just gives us the Ferrari FXX. God what a car. Enzo mk.II if you will.

I guess PD could put some historic F1 cars in GT, but a real F1 game has to be a dedicated game. And we all know GT isn't that kind of game. It just has a bit of everything.

F1 2010 Codemasters is an F1 focus / dedicated game but it is hideous for what it is :(

If they put the Tyrrell P34 'six wheeler', the Brabham BT46b 'fan car', a Lotus 79 and Ayrton Senna's McLaren MP4/4 in GT, I'd never critisize PD ever again.

Oh and the Brawn BGP001 because I loved the cars colours and lack of too many sponsors.

I do like how in the absence of GT having a license they get creative and do something convincingly well like FGT, and the use of RUF in the absence of Porsche...

And CM did give us the best F1 game in a decade... I really want to see where they take it next... CM has a cool engine and gets the feeling of racing and trying to immerse the player pretty well...

Not to mention, I hear the FIM is nearly impossible to work with and is prohibitively strict...

An exclusive F1 licence for a PS3 exclusive game? Think about it, there are probably many reasons Codemasters got it this time, one of them is that their games are multi-platform (not unimportant I reckon).
Another reason is that GT doesn't focus as much on one series as a game dedicated purely to F1 is, regardless how spot on PD will get the physics and modelling, etc.
An F1 game is like FIFA or any other annually replaced sports-game, a game like GT with the lifespan it has (as in, isn't replaced with a new title each year) wouldn't be suited as the current F1 grid would be old hat after just a year (unless DLC is applied perhaps).
The only hope for more F1 cars is more classic F1 cars, not sure how the whole licence issue is dealt with regarding these machines though, Bernie probably has thought about that too if his legal tentacles stretch that far.
So far only Ferrari has a special agreement with the short grey-haired fella to licence their cars to other games apparantly, which sort of proves this whole shady business I guess, there's hardly any real logic to it.

I may be in the minority, but I thought Codemasters did a pretty good job with F1 2010. Let me put it another way....they did a better job with F1 than PD did with GT5 **in my opinion**.

Neither one is perfect, but both are pretty good at what they attempted to do. I'm betting F1 2011 is better than both. (Well, if Codemasters fixes what was broke and adds in what was missing).

Codemasters, in my opinion did an excellent job for a first attempt at an F1 game. Now the core of the game is in place they can spend more time on the little details for F1 2011. Examples being, the podium after races, mechanics that actually look different when you change teams, maybe walking around the team motorhome instead of a trailer, a better pre-race build up, non-repetitive interviews and press conferences, an optional TV style hud and maybe optional commentary for people who prefer a TV style presentation (not myself I may add but it would be pretty cool to check out). Add little things like that to the inevitable graphics and gameplay tweaks and we're on the way to a dream F1 game.

Also, if PD re-gains the license, that they had before (2006 C.E was a PD game) they would probably make another F1 Dedicated game, not put F1 into GT.

Good lord, if this happens, I shall have to kill myself...

The F1 handling in this game is horrible, I hate it, and the cars don't handle very realisticly at all. If they did get it, it would just be like the NASCAR and WRC lisences, not used properly.

Leave it to CM, they are doing a great job!

If you look at PD licenses they are very limited and tend to be from off years where no other publisher had the license... Or some very minor fraction of the license... It's better than nothing from a licensor perspective but with Activision taking on the Nascar license, it might turn into the next "FGT" of GT6 with fantasy liveries...

Regardless, PD seems to do pretty well without complete licenses though... Its that sand box quality... and an odd example of quantity and quality... though nothing is ever complete...

!

So who are you? Alonso? Webber? ......Coulturd?

I love posts like these. THE PHYSICS IN MY SIMULATED RACE CAR IS NOT REALISTIC I SHOULD KNOW. I'VE PLAYED THE LAST F1 GAME!

+1

I couldn't even count the amount of times I've had to say this to people talking about F1 games "unrealistic" handling and physics on forums.

GT should be more about the classic F1 cars of the past, rather than the current stuff. So i would prefer them to sneakily add historic cars under chassis codes than jump through hoops to get the 2011 Ferrari in the game.

I have Codemaster F1 2010 game

and it drives in absolute rubbishness

that's not a joke I actually bought it lol

at least in GT5 F1 World Champion Sebastian Vettel helped in GT5's F10 simulation also the test data / simulation data from Ferrari were used in the making of F10 in GT5

/quote this if you agree

^^

Ferrari wouldn't let the esteemed world champion (Who should have been Webber) within forty thousand miles of a Ferrari for data acquisition :/

@enzo dude(lol this is a way around the quote)

I hate playing moderator like some people like doing, but don't use that huge text. It makes you look annoying and akward, like that guy from the PSP commercials.
tmpphpqnnrti.jpg

"Hey there watcha got OMIGOD A PSP WITH DARTH VADER GRAPHIX ON THE BACK OM MY GOD CLUSTER BOMB CLUSTER BOOOOOOOOOOOOMB!"
Its just anoying and takes up space.

And this isnt youtube. Quotes arent like thumbs up. Stupid on youtube, stupid here. Do you like it when the 2 top comments on a song are "I HATE VEVO BLAH BLAH BLAH" and someone quotingg a line from the song? NO ONE DOES!

damn, rant over:dunce:

Yeah, I know someone who works at codemasters and a lot if the things in the F1 2010 game were like it cos, I think the FIA, wouldn't let em do stuff. You only need to see how videos of F1 races etc are always getting taken off YouTube to see how strict the FIA are.

Hopefully it will happen, but I honest would be happy with 10 made up F1 cars, as long as they premiums. You could easily get around it somehow. But just imagine all the F1 cars as Premiums in GT5, it would be so cool!

I'm fairly sure that the wishes in this thread could be solved with money. Money to FOM and to Codemasters. But its money that PD doesn't want or really need to pay. Not to mention the time needed that we'll have to wait.

Should updates include more F1 tracks (renamed and slightly altered) and a livery editor I'm sure we'll have us some user made F1 action but that would make too much sense.

Thats why my friends and I love GT. Almost any racing series we want to drive on we can!

Formula 1- Ferrari F2007 and Ferrari F10- Cote de Azur, Autodromo Nationzale Monza, Nurburgring GP, Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Suzuka

WRC- Citroen, Suzuki, Ford, and Subaru WRC Cars- Level Editor Dirt tracks

IndyCar- Formula Gran Turismo (Not a Indy Car, but all Indy cars are Hondas, so a pack of these is very similar)- Indianapolis Motor Speedway

WTCC/DTM- Pretty much any touring car- Autodromo Nationzale Monza, Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Laguna Seca, etc.

Super GT- Nissan, Lexus, Honda, Lambo, etc. Super GT Cars- Suzuka, Tskuba, etc.

24 Hour Endurance- Any LMP Racer- Nurburgring, Circuit de La Sarthe, Daytona Superspeedway

NASCAR- Any Chevorlet, Toyota, or Ford Nascar- Daytona Superspeedway, Indianapolis Motor Speedway

D1- Blitz D1 Drifters- Dont know any D1 tracks

Rally Raid- Mistubitsi Pajero, Toyota RSC Rally, etc- Level Editor Dirt Tracks

Pike Peak- Suzuki Esquedo- Level Editor Dirt Tracks (or according to Red Bull, Pikes Peak Itself)

Jesus, just looking at this, why all the complaints about GT5?

*DO NOT ANSWER THAT QUESTION*

Because out of all of these you just listed only NASCAR and SuperGT have enough premium cars to make a decent race with friends online. Remember guys to some of us, and I hate using the term but for me and a LOT of others it's very true here, the standards are unplayable.

Besides that things feel tacked on. Look at NASCAR. Two ovals?!?!?!? Really? Come on. Even FM3 had more ovals than that. PD has the license and at no point did anyone say, "Hey you know two ovals ain't gonna get it, Let's at least make some ish up"

Lifes too short to be a downer, put your hopes down and everything will always exceed you expectations. Put it on roof cam and suck it up.
